Installation of a wall-hung toilet

  • The basis of the design is a rigid steel frame, which is equipped by the manufacturer with a special device for adjusting the height. This frame is securely attached to the floor, as well as to a wall made of solid brick or concrete. Such equipment cannot be attached to false walls made of plasterboard. The toilet bowl is suspended on special pins to a steel frame.
  • Plastic cistern, which is additionally insulated with styropol, a material that prevents the formation of condensation. The cistern is located on a steel frame. There is a special cutout on the front of the tank through which a push-button type water drainage device is mounted. During operation, the same hole provides access to the mechanism for maintenance and repair if it is necessary to replace faulty components. Modern models provide dosing of the volume of drained water using buttons; pressing one of them drains three liters, and the other – six liters.
  • The toilet bowl is the visible part of the entire structure after installation.
  • Hardware and tools included with the product in the packaging to complete installation. When purchasing, you should check the integrity of the package containing the fastening elements. Otherwise, problems will arise during installation.

Materials for installation

To carry out installation work, it is necessary to purchase a set of parts needed to connect the device, a polyethylene outlet for organizing the drain, Teflon tape, studs, flexible hose with an angle valve, through which the water supply pipe will be connected to the flush tank. Since the equipment is different manufacturers is different, it is better to first purchase a toilet, and then purchase all the materials recommended by the manufacturer in the instructions for its installation and connection.

Installation technology for a wall-hung toilet

Is installing a wall-mounted toilet really much more complicated than installing conventional floor-standing equipment? Let's take a closer look at this process.

  • Installation work begins with the installation of a rigid steel frame (installation), which is firmly attached with dowels to concrete floor and to the main wall. In this case, a sewer pipe with a diameter of 110 mm must already be installed at the installation site. We also need to worry about the water supply pipe. The installation must be leveled relative to the vertical and horizontal planes, for which a regular building level is used. Adjustment is very easy, because the design of the steel frame includes retractable rods, as well as special studs for attaching the frame to the wall. You can adjust the height of the bowl depending on the height of the people who will use this indispensable plumbing product. Optimal height The installation of a wall-hung toilet can be selected experimentally. Usually wall hung toilet mounted so that the seat is located approximately 40 cm from the floor.

  • Next, water is supplied to the tank, while experienced craftsmen it is recommended not to use flexible liner, but a pipe whose service life is much longer. Do not forget that during the water supply the valve located in the tank closes.
  • The next stage of work involves connecting the outlet of the wall-hung toilet with the sewer outlet, using corrugation. To check the functionality of the connection, attach the toilet bowl to the frame and perform a test flush. After checking, the bowl will have to be removed, since its installation is carried out at the very last moment.
  • Next, the installation site of the frame is covered with sheets of double waterproof plasterboard, which is attached directly to the installation and to the wall metal profile. A template for quickly cutting the front part of the casing is available in the instructions that are included with the hanging equipment by the manufacturer. Using this template facilitates the process of cutting all the necessary technological holes in a sheet of drywall.

  • Next, surface finishing work is carried out. ceramic tiles, matching the color of the interior of the entire bathroom.
  • After the tile adhesive has completely dried, the toilet bowl is secured, which is hung on two studs. They are wrapped directly in metal frame installation system located under the cladding.

Today, more and more often in apartments you can see a wall-hung toilet. Some time ago, such a design was a novelty and raised doubts - would such a toilet bowl fall off the wall if a fairly large, densely built person sat on it?

And in fact, is a wall-hung toilet reliable enough? Does it have any advantages over a conventional toilet that is placed on the floor? How to properly install a wall-mounted toilet yourself?

All these many other questions will be answered below.

Why is a wall-hung toilet better than a regular one?

The most important advantage of such a toilet is its compactness.

If we measure the distance from the wall to its front edge, we will get approximately 50-52 cm. While a regular toilet protrudes into the room by more than 70 centimeters.

In addition, the hanging design is much more convenient in terms of cleaning the room - debris does not accumulate under it, the distance from the bottom of the toilet bowl to the floor makes cleaning easy.

Visually, the room seems more spacious due to the absence of a bulky leg and flush tank.

Wall-hung toilet design

What is included in the wall-hung toilet kit?

As a rule, the manufacturer includes a frame in the installation kit, which is the element that holds the toilet and transfers the load from it and the person sitting on it to building structures, to which this frame is attached during installation, fasteners, as well as the toilet itself with pipes for connecting to the flush pipe and flush fittings.

The wall-hung toilet is attached to a frame, which is covered with a false plasterboard wall and then covered with tiles or wall panels.

This design looks very aesthetically pleasing and the room takes on a completely different look:

Installation of a wall-hung toilet

This short instruction will come in handy when installing a wall-mounted toilet. Below you will find a description of the installation sequence of all elements of its design.

First of all, install the frame on which the toilet is mounted. Many people call this frame an “installation,” although this name is not entirely correct (English installation - installation), but it has taken root among the people and today, when they say installation, they mean a frame for a wall-hung toilet.

Installation of the frame is carried out at the very first stage repair work in the bathroom, when there is no finishing on the walls and ceilings yet and it looks something like this:

The frame is equipped with all necessary elements for installing a toilet - pipes for water supply and drainage, mounting bolts And flush fittings. All available fasteners can be slightly adjusted for more precise installation of the toilet.

At self-installation The question often arises: at what height should a wall-hung toilet be installed?

The answer here is quite simple - you need to install the toilet at a height that will be convenient for those who will use it.

The thing is that the frame is adjustable and this makes it possible to choose the most comfortable height installations.

After the frame is installed and securely fastened to the walls and floor with anchor bolts, it is covered with a false plasterboard wall, which is finished in the same style as the rest of the walls - ceramic tiles or decorative panels. A graphic representation of the sequence of actions is shown in this scan of the instructions:

The main thing is not to forget to mark and cut in the right places all the holes that will be required for further installation:

After the frame is placed in the wall, and all the necessary holes are made in the wall and finishing you can start direct installation the wall-hung toilet itself.

The sequence of operations is as follows:

We will need to screw in the mounting threaded rods, on which our toilet will be attached, and also attach to it the outlet pipe and the water supply (flush) pipe.

To avoid mistakes, you should first measure the depth of the holes in the wall into which the pipes will be inserted and mark this distance on the pipes of the fan (outlet) pipe and the water supply pipe to the toilet (flush):

The pipes cut to the required length are attached to the toilet bowl:

Important! When assembling, you must first attach the pipes specifically to the toilet, and not insert them into the wall, and then try to attach the toilet to them.

For reliability, all joints and rubber seals located in them can be coated with sanitary silicone sealant:

This will improve the tightness of the connections and prevent possible leaks.

After all connections are coated with sealant and the gaskets are in place, you can put the toilet on the mounting studs screwed into the wall and secure it with nuts to the wall:

The nuts should be tightened carefully so that the fragile earthenware does not burst from excessive force.

Once the toilet is securely fixed, you can cut off the protruding edges of the sealing gasket using a utility knife:

Also after this you need to cut off the extra accordion for the shutter button:

Now it's time to turn on the water supply to the tank. To do this, you need to remove the plastic cover in the hole where the shutter button will be placed.

Greetings, my dear readers.

When purchasing an apartment in a new building or spending major renovation of your home, sooner or later the question arises about choosing new plumbing fixtures.

Scientific and technological progress fills modern human life various techniques and equipment. An irreplaceable item toilet room- The toilet is also being modernized. New look and the design of the equipment will fit perfectly into any interior. Therefore, consumers increasingly prefer a wall-mounted toilet.

Despite the dramatic change in the appearance of the toilet, the item has not undergone innovation in its basic functionality, but the water supply and drainage systems have been thoroughly modernized.

The plumbing item is made in such a way that during installation all elements are hidden, with the exception of the toilet bowl. The drain tank is installed in the wall, and the liquid drain button goes outside. This installation is called hidden installation.

Wall-hung toilets are divided into two types according to the mounting method:

  • Block installation

If you plan to install the toilet on a load-bearing wall, then installation of the equipment can be done using a block installation. To do this you will need metal plates and anchor bolts. After installation, communications and the drain barrel are hidden behind a false wall made of plasterboard.

  • Frame installation

To install a wall-hung toilet with your own hands on a non-load-bearing wall made of plasterboard or other material, the installation is carried out using a metal frame. Steel pipes welded together, they are attached to the wall and floor. The main load of the frame is determined on the floor. This type fastenings are designed for loads up to 400 kg.

Toilets hanging type vary in size:

  • small (length 50 - 54 cm);
  • medium (length 54 - 60 cm);
  • large (length up to 70 cm).

The width usually varies from 30 to 40 cm. The most best option for most consumers - an average toilet. Small and large sizes are less popular, but are also in demand.

Manufacturers present model range and more expensive copies with additional functions.

  • Anti-splash system provides a certain protrusion in the design of the bowl - a shelf that prevents splashes during operation.

  • Microlift system Thanks to the smooth lowering of the lid, it prevents impacts on the toilet body and avoids any damage to the integrity of the device.
  • Backflow helps maintain cleanliness and hygiene, water is flushed under the rim, washing away unwanted contaminants.

  • Anti-dirt coating an additional layer on the inside of the bowl prevents the formation yellow spots and rust, facilitates the cleaning process.

  • Rimless design without any bends eliminates hard to reach places, in which germs hide, allows for easy cleaning.
  • Drainage system completely cleans the bowl using two sprayers located on the sides, through which water flows for flushing.

Manufacturers present installation options with bowl height adjustment, which allows the consumer to individually install the toilet to the desired level.

The installation system is divided into several types:

  • standard: width 50 cm, height 112, depth 12 cm. Used in rooms where the dimensions of the structure allow the installation of the system
  • low: if installation is planned in a place of limited height, for example under a window sill, the installation height is up to 82 cm
  • double sided: provides for installation of the toilet bowl on both sides
  • corner: the frame is installed in the corner of the room
  • linear: used when installing several plumbing fixtures, such as a toilet, bidet

To complete the installation of a wall-hung toilet, you will need a set of tools:

  • hammer drill or hammer drill
  • drill for concrete and brick with pobedit coating
  • screwdriver with bits
  • construction level or laser axis - builder
  • anchor bolts

You should open the packaging and check the toilet for integrity, absence of cracks and chips, as well as completeness. The box should contain assembly instructions and a product passport, which specifies all the elements included in the kit.

If necessary, by turning off the water supply tap, carry out dismantling work for removing an old toilet.

Before proceeding with the installation, it is necessary to check whether all communications (sewer pipe, water supply hose) are connected for further connection.

  • Step 1

The first step is to install the frame. The location for mounting the frame is determined, necessarily on a load-bearing wall. It is necessary to carry out a quality installation frame structure, since the reliability of all equipment during further operation depends on this. Using a laser axis builder or building level Horizontal and vertical lines are determined for clear installation of the frame.

Markers are made on the wall with a marker through the holes in the frame. Using a hammer drill or hammer in impact mode, holes are drilled at the fastening site. The steel frame is installed and secured with anchor bolts under strict level control.

  • Step 2

The next step is work on connecting to the water supply. The tank valve must be closed during all installation work.

  • Step 3

The installation is then connected to the sewer drain. There are several connection options, the most common is using a special corrugation for connecting toilets.

  • Step 4

When the installation is installed, the next step is decorative design- hiding communications by creating false walls made of plasterboard or other material, followed by decoration with tiles.

  • Step 5

When the wall is completely ready, the toilet bowl is hung on special studs. After complete connection, the water supply tap opens. A visual inspection is carried out for leaks.

Installation of a toilet without installation on a concrete base

There is another option for installing a wall-hung toilet that does not involve installation. In this case, fastening is carried out on a concrete base. This method is more budget option, but requires additional work to arrange the necessary foundation.

  • Step 1

Wooden formwork is assembled. On the front part, it is necessary to mark in advance and drill the places where the bowl is attached, through which a mark is applied to the wall through the formwork. Next, holes are drilled in the wall into which it is poured. chemical anchor. This action will allow the metal pins to be secured to concrete and brick by the force of cohesion and adhesion.

  • Step 2

Through the formwork, pins of the required length are inserted into the wall with a chemical anchor and pressed with nuts to wooden formwork. On the front side it is necessary to glue a small piece of foam plastic, which will later be removed, and the recess remaining after it will serve as a place for the coupling.

  • Step 3

It is poured into the formwork cavity concrete mortar(about 40 liters) and left until completely dry (about a week). After hardening, wooden boards removed, remains monolithic base with knitting needles for hanging the toilet bowl. The foam is removed and a coupling is installed in the recess connecting the pipe and the sewer.

The drain barrel is being installed, the wall is being decorated decorative finishing and the system is checked for functionality.

Every buyer of residential or commercial premises in Moscow always faces a number of questions regarding interior decoration premises, choice plumbing equipment, interior design. One of the elements of sanitary equipment is a wall-hung toilet. When choosing such a solution, you should weigh the pros and cons, since, unlike the classic option, installing a wall-hung toilet will require more effort, time and money.

What are the features and advantages of installing a wall-hung toilet

What is attractive about buying a wall-hung toilet, and what difficulties may arise during installation and subsequent operation?

  1. Design. Undoubtedly, the wall-mounted toilet attracts with its laconic design. Wall mounting looks more aesthetically pleasing than regular option with a floor-mounted toilet. It is also possible to choose the type and design of the flush key.
  2. Compact placement. Visually, such toilets undoubtedly look more compact, but is this really so? For installation not in a niche, but simply on the wall, a wall-hung toilet requires a minimum of 15 centimeters of indentation, which is covered with a false wall. If the wall does not initially provide a niche for mounting a wall-hung toilet, then the issue of compactness remains open.
  3. Easy to maintain. This type of toilet does not have a foot. Thanks to this feature, cleaning floors under plumbing fixtures is easy and quick.
  4. Repair work. Wall mounted toilet and closed type installation – great solution for the interior, but provided that the plumbing equipment is in good working order. In the event of any breakdown, buried installation makes repairs difficult, expensive, and sometimes requiring restoration work on the interior design of the toilet room after repairing the plumbing equipment.
  5. Psychological aspect of exploitation. When installing a wall-hung toilet, strong and reliable frames are used that can withstand loads of up to 400 kilograms. But at the same time, a psychologically incorrect perception of such plumbing equipment may arise: people will subconsciously be afraid that the toilet bowl will come off and it will split.
  6. Features of installing a wall-hung toilet. Installation attachments always more difficult than floor-mounted. To install a wall-hung toilet, you will have to spend more time and money, and sometimes even invite third-party specialists, since it is not always possible to easily mount a toilet on a wall that was not previously designed for this type of plumbing equipment.
  7. Price. Wall models toilets are more expensive than floor-mounted options. This is due to the fact that when installing a wall-hung toilet, a special high-strength steel frame is used.
  8. When developing wall-mounted toilets, designers take into account every last detail, which has a positive effect on performance characteristics. Ease of use is a definite plus in favor of choosing such equipment.
  9. Water dividers built into the bowl of the wall-hung toilet allow you to wash the inner surface most effectively.
  10. One of the main arguments in favor of choosing this option is the possibility of preserving the floor tile pattern, since the toilet does not touch the floor. In addition, you can use the “warm floor” system.
  11. Thanks to its design, the wall-hung toilet allows you to hide all the valves, hoses and pipes that go to it, which will have a positive effect on the interior of the toilet room and expand the design possibilities.

In fact, the wall-hung toilet does not have much better performance than its regular floor-standing counterpart. This is more of a design choice rather than based on any practical benefits. In addition, the wall-mounted toilet itself is usually more expensive, and its installation is more difficult. Therefore, if you're on a tight budget, it's worth thinking carefully about whether the benefits of a wall-mounted toilet are really worth spending more money on.

What you need to know about the design of a wall-hung toilet before proceeding with installation

Before installing a wall-hung toilet, it is worth studying the installation diagram and design features of this plumbing device.

The main power part of the structure consists of a durable steel frame, which is attached to the floor and wall. In this case, the walls must be made of brick, concrete and other materials that can withstand heavy loads. Installing a wall-hung toilet on walls made of fragile materials such as plasterboard or wood is not the most best idea. The toilet bowl is installed on a rigidly fixed frame using steel pins, which is the visible part of the entire structure. The frame, as a rule, is hidden behind a special false wall.

The flush cisterns of wall-hung toilets are built into a false wall and are not visible. Distinctive feature of such tanks is the material from which they are made - plastic. The depth of the plastic cisterns of wall-mounted toilets is 9 cm, the width varies. To prevent the formation of condensation, the tanks are insulated with special polymers. On the front of the tank there is a cutout through which the flush button is installed.

Some modern models wall-hung toilets are equipped with a water dosing system; several keys are responsible for a fixed volume - 3 or 6 liters. This allows you to use water more economically.

Before installing a wall-hung toilet, you should check the contents, quantity necessary materials, tool. Models from different manufacturers may have different configurations.

The diagram clearly shows the installation device with a plastic flush cistern and the necessary connectors for installing a wall-hung toilet.

What materials and tools will be needed to install a wall-hung toilet?

Before starting installation, you need to understand what parts the wall-hung toilet consists of and how it is installed.

Load-bearing structure Technically called installation. It is the main structure that bears the load and is used to install the toilet bowl. The installation must be durable and allow the bowl to be adjusted in height, which makes it possible to install the toilet in almost any room.
Tank Thanks to its design, the tank can be easily installed on the installation. The main material from which the tank is made is plastic. There is a button on the front panel associated with the water drain mechanism. Via the button maintenance and repair of the drain mechanism. The tank can have one or several buttons, which saves water.
Toilet bowl There are a wide variety of bowls available in the market, varying in shape, design and color. The buyer can always choose a bowl that will satisfy his needs. But it’s worth remembering that the main thing in a toilet bowl is its functionality, so bowls fancy shapes Although they are beautiful, they are not always technically perfect and are inferior in their parameters to simple-shaped bowls. The material from which toilet bowls are made is earthenware or porcelain. Earthenware is cheaper, but porcelain has better characteristics.
Fasteners Installations and toilet bowls are usually equipped with fasteners sufficient for trouble-free installation. If there are any doubts about the quality and reliability of the fastener, it can always be replaced with a more suitable one, sold separately in construction and specialized stores.

In addition to the above, you will definitely need a drain to the sewer riser, as well as elements for supplying water to the toilet tank - reinforced hoses, adapters, ball valves. It all depends on where and how the installation is carried out, what the size of the room is.

As a rule, when purchasing an installation separately from a wall-hung toilet, installation problems do not arise, but still, if purchased separately, it is worth checking the compatibility of the elements with each other. It is also necessary to check the completeness of the package according to the list specified in the device passport.

In principle, some elements of a wall-hung toilet can be changed at will, for example, installing a double flush button that allows you to regulate the water flow.

Tools and materials required for installation work:

  • drill;
  • concrete drills;
  • hammer;
  • screwdriver with bits;
  • adjustable spanner;
  • FUM tape (for sealing threads);
  • core;
  • corrugation for sewer pipe;
  • building level;
  • sheets of double waterproof plasterboard.

Open-end wrenches, special drywall knives, tape measures, markers for marking holes and other tools may also come in handy.

The installation diagram for installing a wall-hung toilet usually looks like this:

  • Make a niche of a suitable size in the wall.
  • Bring sewerage to the niche.
  • Install the installation frame.
  • Bring cold water supply pipes to the installation site.
  • Connect the toilet cistern.
  • Close the niche, install the flush button and finish.
  • Hang the toilet, connecting it to the tank, as well as to the sewer.

Also, when installing a wall-hung toilet and subsequent finishing, you may need a certain amount of drywall or a material replacing it.

When installing a wall-hung toilet, it is necessary that the work at each stage be completed with high quality, and that the installation itself be carried out reliably, without any errors or inaccuracies. In the future, when using this plumbing equipment, installation errors can cost a lot of money and effort.

How to prepare a niche for installing a wall-hung toilet

For reliable installation wall-hung toilets are suitable only for those walls that have high bearing capacity. Mounting a wall-hung toilet on a wall made of plasterboard or foam blocks is a pointless exercise. The weight that a properly installed wall-hung toilet can withstand is 400 kilograms.

When installing an installation for a wall-hung toilet, a niche with the following parameters:

  • height - 100 cm;
  • width - 60 cm;
  • depth - 15-20 cm.

Often it is not possible to meet the requirement for the depth of a niche, so a niche is made to the possible depth, and the installation itself, which extends beyond the plane of the main wall, is covered with plasterboard and finishing elements.

Thus, for interior design it becomes possible to use elements that cover a niche in the wall, for example, to make remote shelves or convenient cabinets.

If it is not possible to hollow out a niche and you have to mount the wall-hung toilet simply on the wall, then such a design does not make much sense. In this case, it is easier and cheaper to install a regular floor-standing toilet, which will take up the same amount of space.

In many modern houses niches for communications are already structurally provided, so it is worth considering the possibility of installing a wall-hung toilet there. But it is worth considering that, most likely, you will have to redo the water pipes, placing them bypassing the frame and tank of the wall-hung toilet.

At difficult installation in niches where any communications are already taking place, it is worth turning to specialists: they have experience and all the necessary equipment.

The procedure for installing a wall-hung toilet on an installation

Most manufacturers equip wall-hung toilets with universal frames that allow adjustment of the installation height of both the toilet bowl itself and the wall-hung flush cistern. In this case, before the main installation, it is necessary to make measurements and markings at the installation site so that there are no difficulties during the work. Typically, the height of the flush water tank from the floor is 1 meter; the bowl itself is mounted at a height convenient for use.

Before starting work, it is necessary to check the outlets of the sewer and water pipes.

The steel frame is installed using anchor bolts, which allow for quick and reliable fixation of the frame, pressing it tightly against the load-bearing wall. When attaching the frame to wooden floor The most reliable and powerful wood screws are used, specially designed for high loads.

Installation of the frame should be accompanied by measurements using a level; it is advisable to mount the frames as horizontally as possible. After alignment, the final tightening of the anchor bolts and fixation of the frame occurs.

The optimal height for hanging the bowl of a wall-mounted toilet is considered to be 40 centimeters from the floor level, but depending on the people living in an apartment or private house, the bowl is installed at a height that is most convenient for them.

When installing the frame and bowl of a wall-hung toilet, you must take care in advance of the sewer pipe supply; as a rule, the diameter of these pipes is 10 centimeters. When installing a sewer outlet, it is very important to maintain the correct angle at which the pipe enters the sewer riser.

The connection point for the outlet should be 25 cm from the wall niche. A bend is placed on the horizontal part of the pipe at an angle of 45 degrees.

Installation of frame with tank

The frame is mounted with 4 support points. Two points are located on the floor, where the frame is attached with special legs. Two points are located at the top of the structure and the frame is attached to the wall with them. When marking and securing the frame, it is necessary to maintain the horizontal structure of the structure. It is worth noting that if the frame is installed incorrectly (if it is skewed), then in the future, during operation, the internal mechanisms of the toilet cistern will not work correctly, the wear of parts will increase, which will lead to rapid failure and subsequent complex and expensive repairs wall-hung toilet.

Horizontal alignment is also carried out using convenient mechanisms.

When the frame is aligned horizontally and vertically, it is finally secured. To increase the stability of the frame, its legs can be additionally cemented.

At the bottom of the frame are special holes, allowing for installation of the bowl. Typically, the distance between the floor and these holes is 30-40 cm. Pins are inserted into them to further secure the wall-hung toilet bowl.

Connecting communications

It is necessary to begin connecting a wall-hung toilet by connecting it with a special outlet to the sewer riser. The second side of the outlet must be securely fastened to a previously mounted frame, which is designed to be mounted on the bowl of a wall-hung toilet.

Using threaded connections, a water pipe is connected, depending on the location - either on the right or on the left. It is recommended to use pipes from modern materials– polypropylene or copper alloys. Such pipes are durable, reliable, and do not corrode. To supply water to the tank, special flexible hoses reinforced with steel braid are used, but they are less durable and have only relatively reliable connections at their ends, so if possible, it is worth using water supply using pipes, since the hoses will sooner or later require replacement.

At this stage, the tightness of all water connections and water drainage into the sewer is checked. To do this, the water is opened and the tank is filled, after which a test flush is performed. If all tests were successful, the water pipes and hose connections do not leak, and the flushed water has completely gone into the sewer riser, all connections are finally secured.

Finishing work

After final installation and checking the tightness and reliability of all connections, produce final finishing. At this point, it is worth considering that installing ordinary drywall is not the most best solution, V plumbing work special moisture-resistant drywall is used, take care in advance to purchase exactly this type of finishing materials.

In order to correctly cut a sheet of drywall, the manufacturer includes a special template in the package, by attaching which you can easily mark everything mounting holes in the sheet and not spoil the material.

Usually, with a combined bathroom, the finishing of the bathroom begins with laying the tiles; in this case, the installation of a wall-hung toilet begins only after finishing the finishing work with tiles and ceramics. Even if you have completely finished finishing the room with tiles, this will not be a hindrance in further installation wall-hung toilet.

Installation of a wall hung toilet

After the tile adhesive has completely dried and the tile is firmly in place, proceed to the actual simple stage– installation of a wall-hung toilet, that is, its main part – the bowl.

The bowl is installed according to the following plan:

  1. Adjust the dimensions of the drain pipe, which should protrude 50 mm beyond the wall.
  2. The pipe intended for sewer drainage is cut in the same way.
  3. Install the pipes in their designated places.
  4. Place a special gasket on the previously installed studs and pipes. large size, its configuration is similar to a truncated pyramid.
  5. Place the toilet bowl on the studs, connecting it securely to the pipes.
  6. Install plastic inserts and rubber gaskets.
  7. Place and tighten the mounting nuts.
  8. Cut off the protruding part of the rubber gasket.

After all this, the toilet bowl is finally adjusted in height, as well as the installed plumbing equipment is tested, the water supply is opened and flushing occurs. If everything is sealed, there are no leaks, and the flush works well, and the water completely goes into the sewer riser - great, the work of installing the wall-hung toilet is almost complete.

Installation of the flush button

There are two main types of flush buttons: mechanical and pneumatic. They work, in principle, the same way. To install a mechanical button, you will need to install special pins and adjust them; a pneumatic button is even easier to install - it is attached to ready-made tubes.

How to install a wall-hung toilet on a concrete base

The key difference between this type of installation of a wall-hung toilet is the absence of an installation – a frame on which it is attached. The main condition for such installation is that the wall must be strong, it is highly desirable that it be a load-bearing wall.

For successful self-installation wall-hung toilet you need the following:

  • 2 steel rods with a diameter of 2 cm and a length of 50-80 cm with threads cut into them;
  • 4 nuts and 4 washers, matching threads;
  • 40 liters of concrete grade M 200;
  • 2-3 sheets of plywood;
  • wood screws.

For self-connection wall hung toilet you will need:

  • rectangular drain coupling;
  • sewer plastic pipe with a diameter of 1.10 cm;
  • silicone based sealant.

Before installing a wall-hung toilet, be sure to read the instructions. We will write in more detail what needs to be done to successfully install a wall-hung toilet on a concrete base.

1. In order to determine the installation height of the toilet, work begins with the installation of the drain coupling.

2. If the installation height is high, then the coupling is extended with a sewer pipe; if, on the contrary, the coupling is cut to the required length.

3. The distance of the formwork panels is determined; it is necessary to add a couple of centimeters in reserve.

4. Using a tape measure, measure the distance between the attachment points, the standard is 20 centimeters.

5. After taking the dimensions, they are all transferred to plywood boards to make formwork from them. Suitable not only plywood sheets, but also any materials that can serve as formwork for concrete, but the most convenient option, of course, plywood.

6. Control check of the measurements taken.

7. Threaded rods are cut off, and it is important to take into account that the length of the rod is added up from the end point of penetration into the wall to the place where the fastening nuts will be screwed on. Carefully consider all lengths before cutting the rods to the length you need.

8. The rods are fastened in two ways:

  • Wall mounting is the simplest: just drill through the wall with a special drill, insert a rod, put a washer on reverse side walls and secure with a nut. This method is good because it is suitable for almost any wall.
  • If it is not possible to drill through the wall, the rods must be secured in special ways, for example, with chemical anchors. The depth of the hole in the wall must be at least 14 centimeters. During installation, the hole must be cleared of dust, then it is filled with glue and the rod is installed.

9. After assembling the formwork, a structure is obtained consisting of three panels with holes for the rods. It is important at this stage to cover the sewer hole with polyethylene so that dirt and concrete do not get into the sewer drain riser.

10. The correct installation of the panels is checked using a building level, after which the rods are installed to give the formwork rigidity.

11. The bowl of the wall-hung toilet is installed in place, it is tried on, and any shortcomings in the assembly of the formwork are corrected. It is necessary to provide a place for connecting the toilet, that is, make a place in the formwork where concrete will not be poured; to do this, you can screw a piece of foam plastic onto one of the rods, which will not allow concrete to fill the space.

12. After checking the installation of the formwork and the position of the bowl, the formwork is filled with a special cement mortar, consisting of 1 part cement, 2 parts sand, 3 parts crushed stone and 1/7 part water.

13. Concrete is laid in small portions, which are smoothed with a trowel and evenly distributed over the formwork.

14. To prevent concrete from getting on the rods, they are wrapped in polyethylene or other similar material.

15. A special long stop is used to compact concrete, especially in the corners of the formwork.

16. The formwork is removed after 7-10 days, after the concrete has completely hardened.

17. The drain tank is usually connected with a special corrugation, which is placed on the sealant and left for 24 hours until the sealant is fixed.

18. Installation of a wall-hung toilet, final installation of the bowl.

19. Joint between toilet and drain pipe coated with special sealants.

20. The toilet itself is mounted on rods and screwed with nuts and washers.

21. Polymerization of the sealant occurs within 12 hours or more, so at this stage you should not rush and test the operation of the toilet; you must wait until all connections are secured with the sealant.

22. The wall-hung toilet is finally installed, connected to the sewerage system and water supply system, tested for leaks and checked for functionality of buttons and mechanisms.

Conventional floor-standing toilets have been replaced by wall-hung structures that do not take up floor space and look more modern. It is not surprising that wall-mounted models have begun to push traditional products out of the market. Installation suspended structure It’s more complicated, takes more time and costs more, but you can save money if you consider an option such as installing a wall-hung toilet yourself.

Internal structure and operating principle of the design

If you look into design features products, it becomes clear how to install a wall-mounted toilet.

The design of the wall-mounted product is such that the visible element is only the toilet bowl

The first element is a strong steel frame, which is the base to which the visible part of the structure is attached - the toilet bowl. It is with its installation that the installation of a wall-hung toilet begins. The frame is securely fixed to the wall, and also fixed to the floor - as a result, it must withstand the weight of a heavy person.

Accordingly, it is unacceptable to install this structure on weak walls (for example, made of plasterboard), since the wall simply will not hold up. The frame is equipped with a device that allows you to adjust the height (400-430 mm) at which the product bowl is mounted. It is suspended from the frame using special pins - this is the main fastening of the wall-hung toilet.

Often two installations are installed simultaneously - for the toilet and for the bidet

The second element is a plastic cistern hidden in the wall. Its shape differs from the traditional one, since the container must fit into a narrow structure. It is mounted in a steel frame and insulated special material, eliminating the appearance of condensation - styropol. The front wall of the tank is equipped with a cutout for mounting a release button device. In case of repair, this cutout is also used. Almost all modern tanks require dosing of drainage: for example, the volume of water discharged can be 3 liters or 6 liters, depending on the purpose.

Flush tanks of a flat configuration are fixed inside the installation

The third element is the toilet bowl, the only visible and actively used structural part. Its shape is traditional, oval, although designer models There are both round and rectangular configurations.

The toilet bowl can be rectangular, or even round shape- it all depends on the designer’s imagination and the client’s desires

There should be no problems with fasteners, since the product comes with a set of necessary details and tools and installation instructions. Sometimes it is necessary to additionally purchase Teflon tape, a polyethylene outlet, a flexible hose, and studs.

Installation technology

Installing a wall-hung toilet using a special frame installed in the wall is more expensive, but more reliable and faster.

The installation must be mounted to the floor and main wall

Installation steps:

    Installation of a steel frame - through special holes it is attached to the main wall and floor using dowels. At the installation site, sewerage and water pipe. The frame (installation) should be checked for evenness using a level. It must be clearly parallel to the wall to which it is attached. At this stage, the installation height of the wall-hung toilet is also set - 40-43 cm. It depends on the height of the apartment owners.

The height of the toilet bowl is adjustable during installation

    Water supply to the tank. It can be flexible or rigid. Experts insist on the hard version, as it lasts much longer. While the liner is being installed, the valve in the tank is closed.

During work, the water drain from the tank should be shut off.

    Connection of the toilet to the sewerage system. The toilet outlet is inserted into the sewer outlet and the connection is secured using corrugations. After installation, it is necessary to test the system - do a test drain. To do this, the toilet bowl is temporarily completely screwed to the frame. It is then removed again, as it is usually installed at the final stage.

Many installation kits are connected to sewer pipe without using corrugation

    Covering the work area with sheets of plasterboard. For the plumbing unit, choose sheets of waterproof double plasterboard, which is stronger than regular plasterboard. The panels are mounted to a frame and a metal profile, which is mounted on the wall. The instructions included with the product include detailed diagram cutting the material with places to cut out the necessary holes. There can be two options for covering: for the entire wall area or just to cover the installation. In the second case, an improvised shelf will appear above the toilet bowl.

An improvised shelf above the toilet and bidet can be used for decoration or necessary things

The wall cladding behind the toilet should be in harmony with the rest of the room’s decoration

    The final stage is the installation of a wall-mounted toilet, specifically its bowl. It is hung on the allocated part steel frame using two pins.

Sheets of plasterboard with lining cover the installation and the flush cistern, leaving the toilet bowl and flush button

Particular attention should be paid to the correct installation of the installation, since the correct execution of subsequent work depends on it.

Installation of a toilet without installation, on a concrete base

Sometimes people are interested in how to install a wall-hung toilet without installation. Of course, installing a toilet on a frame can be replaced with a cheaper option - installing it on a self-made concrete base.

The flush cistern is installed in two ways: either mounted in the wall with flush buttons, or placed in a standard manner above the toilet bowl in a manufactured base.

Wall-mounted toilet mounting diagram: 1 - 2 rods mounted in the wall; 2 - monolithic concrete base; 3 - drain pipe

Let's consider the most economical option.

To install you need to prepare:

  • about 40 liters of M200 concrete;
  • boards for formwork;
  • nuts, washers, wood screws;
  • 2 threaded rods 2 cm thick (length from 50 to 80 cm);
  • piece plastic pipe(length – 8 cm or more, diameter – 11 cm);
  • drain coupling;
  • silicone sealant.

Procedure:

They start by securing the rods in the main wall. In the future, the toilet bowl will be “planted” on the outlets of the rods. The result is a fairly stable structure that can withstand a weight of 400-500 kg.

Dimensions concrete base calculated taking into account further dismantling of the formwork

Install the formwork. Calculate the distance between the holes for fasteners and mark the fastening points on the formwork.

Calculate the length of the rods: sum up the thickness of the recess (about 15 cm), the distance from the toilet bowl to the wall. To fix the rods in the wall, a chemical anchor is used - a special glue for concrete.

After installing the pins and installing the formwork, try on the toilet bowl. The holes for fastening must coincide with the outlets, the outlet hole must coincide with the coupling drain.

The concrete base will finally harden only after 2-3 weeks.

Concreting begins, supporting the drain hole with foam. The result is monolithic block with fixed open coupling and protruding pins.

The concrete base should include pins for the toilet bowl, a coupling outlet for the flush and space at the top for mounting a cistern.

There is no need to think about how to install a wall-mounted toilet on a prepared base - the subsequent steps are no different from installing a conventional one floor-standing toilet: connect the drain, seal the connections, install the bowl on the pins, tighten the nuts. The flush cistern is fixed above the toilet bowl.

The concrete base and drain pipe can be covered with sheets of plasterboard, leaving an opening for access to the drain tank

Installing a wall-hung toilet like this yourself will save the family budget, since expensive installation is not required.
