What to make a wardrobe on the balcony from. Do-it-yourself wardrobe on the balcony: step-by-step instructions and photos of various design options. Cabinet manufacturing technology

Making a wardrobe on a balcony with your own hands is not at all difficult. A wardrobe can be simple, roomy and very modest on the outside, or vice versa - it can be a piece of vintage furniture on a sunny balcony. If you want to find a compromise solution and combine simplicity of design with the visual appeal of the thing, this material will help you achieve your plans.

Balcony assessment

The closet itself will be the way it can be imagined on this balcony. If the balcony is not insulated, then no closet will do - any temperature changes will affect the condition of the furniture. Also look for any gaps. They will need to be covered up when discovered. If you leave gaps, some moisture will get onto the balcony, and the furniture will have to become damp much earlier than is generally possible.

The floor covering also needs to be leveled and insulated. It could be regular linoleum. You can, of course, spend money on both laminate and tiles. The most important thing is that it should be warm and dry on the balcony; this determines whether the cabinet you have in mind will last for a long time.

The balcony should be warm and dry, this determines how long the cabinet you have in mind will be in use

Where to start building a closet

A lot has been written about how to make a cabinet. But here preparatory work attention is often not given.

And the process of preparing for the construction of the structure includes:

  • Measuring room parameters for a cabinet drawing.
  • Creation of a drawing taking into account dimensions and appearance wishes.
  • An optional point, but still: creating a cardboard mockup (it helps a lot).
  • The drawing should show how many shelves are in the cabinet, what height and width of the shelves, etc.
  • Definition of materials.

As for the material, laminated chipboard leads the list of most used ones. If you order this material, you can include in your order cutting the laminate according to the drawing. That is, you present the company with your drawing and dimensions, and they will cut the laminate themselves. For many, this is a good option if there are no conditions for cutting it yourself.

If the balcony is lined with wood, then the material for the cabinet should be similar. And if the balcony lining is made of plastic panels, then the material for the cabinet should also be plastic.

To build a cabinet for a balcony with your own hands, you will need drawings

How to calculate sizes correctly

A pencil, tape measure and a sheet of paper are needed to take measurements.

Three parameters are measured:

  • height;
  • width;
  • depth.

Think about the internal shelves: as practice shows, there are never too many of them. If there was already a cabinet on the balcony and you just want to update it, take measurements from the old cabinet.

Fittings and other devices, without which convenient locker it will be difficult to collect, today you can buy it in literally every hardware store. You can also find factory-made elements there - many people prefer to make a cabinet from them. That is, ready-made parts are purchased, and then they are simply adjusted to the required size.

Using factory blanks as an example, we can consider the construction of one of the balcony cabinets.

Determining the dimensions and taking measurements is the first necessity for installing a cabinet on a balcony

Wardrobe made from ready-made elements

To assemble a cabinet from factory parts, you need to prepare tools.

Required components and tools include::

  • screwdriver;
  • electric jigsaw;
  • European screws;
  • wood screws;
  • furniture tape;
  • Phillips screwdriver;
  • iron;
  • hammer;
  • clamps;
  • metal square;
  • metal corners.

If factory blanks are made of chipboard (and most often this is the case), it is worth remembering the recommendations for working with this material. The surface must be protected from moisture; if it is laminated chipboard, the issue is resolved; if not, it is advisable to cover the surface with a protective film.

To prevent the material from cracking when screwing in the European screw, the hole must be initially made with a smaller diameter. European screws with a hexagonal head are preferable - they are not afraid of moisture, but ordinary screws will begin to rust over time.

The most simple option cabinet assembly with my own hands is the purchase of ready-made components from chipboard

Assembling the cabinet step by step

If all the tools are prepared and the parts correspond to the drawings, you can begin assembly.

The assembly order will be as follows:

  • First going wooden frame. The bottom of the entire structure and the side wall need to be connected. To do this, the side panel must be installed at the end and connected at an angle of 90 degrees. This unit must be secured with a clamp.
  • You need to drill holes in the bottom and side. To make countersunk heads for Euroscrews, you need to make chamfers using a larger drill bit.
  • The bolts are screwed in with a screwdriver, and the bolt heads are closed with plugs.
  • Once the frame pieces are fastened together, the legs can be screwed to the bottom of the cabinet.
  • After this, the frame needs to be placed in the place on the balcony where the cabinet will stand all the time. This is necessary to check the dimensions of the structure.
  • When the dimensions have been checked, the frame needs to be laid down again with the façade facing down, and we will begin to arrange the rear wall. Suitable for this purpose plywood sheet. You can attach it with a special stapler.
  • The process is completed by drilling holes for the shelves, installing doors, fittings and attracting magnets.

Using purchased furniture parts you can make such a beautiful and simple cabinet. However, not everyone likes to buy not the cheapest ready-made furniture parts; an alternative option could be instructions on how to make a cabinet with your own hands from lumber.

Balcony cabinet made of lumber

You can use different lumber, one of the best is pine. It is easy to process and also easy to decorate.

Cabinet materials:

  • timber 40 by 40 mm,
  • board 3 cm thick,
  • accessories,
  • hardware,
  • plane,
  • electric drill,
  • hammer,
  • roulette,
  • hacksaw,
  • level,
  • plumb line,
  • 2 clamps.

Step-by-step instructions for constructing a cabinet look like this:

  • According to the drawing, the blanks are cut to size.
  • As in the previous description, first of all the frame and all vertical parts are assembled. Their verticality is verified by level.
  • The skeleton of the timber needs to be assembled to form the bottom. It is fixed directly to the floor with a mounting kit, and the upper base, respectively, to the ceiling.
  • Now the structure needs to be put together, and the bars for the shelves must be installed inside the resulting frame.
  • Shelf height is measured by the height of the items that will potentially be stored in the cabinet.
  • It is better, of course, to buy hinges, fittings and doors in a store. A defect in these parts will ruin the integrity of the entire structure.
  • Hanging doors: hinges are attached to the vertical posts of the cabinet, half of the door is attached, and the place where the hinge will be attached is marked. Drill a hole and screw the hinges with self-tapping screws. Doors are hung and their correctness is adjusted.
  • The final touch is attaching the handles to the door.

This wardrobe is simple, modern, convenient and practical. The instructions may be improved during the assembly process, but the outline remains the same.

Carefully cover the interior walls of the cabinet; if the wooden slats are in the way, simply paint them the same color as the wallpaper pattern.

You can use more than one type of wallpaper, but several to create such a fancy mosaic.

Simply painting the inside of the cabinet is also an option. But you can also go this way - leave the wall where the inside of the cabinet is made of brick. And paint these same bricks snow-white. Very stylish and relevant.

Building a wardrobe on the balcony is not difficult if you have experience in designing at least something, even an ordinary stool. Make cardboard templates, carefully check the dimensions, use only high-quality components, and the cabinet will definitely work out.

Photos of cabinets for balconies

Residents of small apartments often face storage problems due to cramped spaces. At the same time, the balcony is usually empty or turned into a place where unnecessary belongings are simply dumped. How to avoid clutter? The best way to do this is to build a cabinet with your own hands from available lumber. This is quite difficult to do, but anyone can do it. We present ideas, drawings, diagrams, sketches and manufacturing technology for balcony cabinets.

  1. Cabinet cabinet, which is independent design and is not attached to the walls of the balcony in any way. Such a cabinet takes up quite a lot of space, but can be moved or removed at any time.
  2. Built-in wardrobe, which is usually created according to individual project, therefore it fits perfectly into all the “inconvenient” places of the loggia or balcony. But in such a cabinet, the walls of the house are used as load-bearing structural elements, to which the side racks and shelves are attached, so you can move or remove it without complete dismantling impossible.

The following types of doors are used in cabinets:

  • compartment doors;
  • accordion door;
  • roller shutters;
  • swing doors

Final choice suitable option depends on specific conditions. For example, you can install a built-in wardrobe in a loggia. In this case, the walls will simultaneously serve as its back wall. But on open balcony It’s better to install a regular cabinet cabinet.

Particular attention should be paid to the choice of doors. If there is little space on the balcony, it is more practical to install roller shutters, sliding doors or an accordion. Hinged doors will be more convenient in large loggia, where saving space is not required and you can access all shelves simultaneously by opening the cabinet. Doors can be installed to the full height of the cabinet, but sometimes it is more convenient to divide the structure into 2-3 functional areas, each of which will have its own doors.

Swing doors are the simplest and cheapest. To assemble them you only need door panels and loops, and self installation it won't be difficult to fit into the opening. Sliding systems are more expensive and time-consuming to install. Except door leaves, they will require guides and rollers. But when opened, such doors do not go beyond the dimensions of the cabinet, which can be attributed to the advantages of such a system.

The most expensive door option is roller shutters. They are a made-to-order kit and are assembled by the manufacturer.

Hinged doors are the simplest and relatively cheapest option, but they are not always convenient Convenient and economical option- compartment doors The folding accordion door will not take up much space when opened. Roller shutters as doors to a balcony closet - a convenient but expensive option

The most suitable and cheapest materials for building and arranging cabinets

Before you start making a cabinet, you need to decide on the material from which it will be made. The most popular and available materials are considered:

  • plastic;
  • Chipboard - chipboard;
  • tree;
  • drywall.

When choosing a material, they usually take into account the overall design concept of the balcony, as well as their own financial capabilities. Plastic is very convenient here - it is practical, goes well with the interior of the balcony and is easy to use.

IN general case The cabinet design consists of a frame, doors and the so-called filling - shelves, drawers, hangers. If there is a side stand, then it will also need casing. Often all these components are made from different materials.

How and from what lumber to build a frame for a cabinet

Most often, frame racks for a cabinet are assembled from wooden beams with a section of 40x40 or 50x50 mm. It is necessary to take into account that wood changes size under the influence of humidity - the timber swells, deforms, joints move, so such a cabinet would not be the best option for unheated balconies.

Shelves can be made of thick plywood, chipboard, or OSB. If it is expected that the closet will contain heavy things that provide a load of more than 5 kg (for example, cans of preserves, heavy tools, dishes, books), then it is better to use a wooden board.

Ideas, diagrams, drawings and step-by-step instructions for assembling balcony cabinets

Once you have decided which type of cabinet will be most convenient for you, you need to begin creating the most accurate drawing possible. Below we present to your attention several developments designed specifically for installation on a loggia or balcony:

  1. The simplest version of a rack consisting only of shelves. This model does not require the installation of doors, but you can calculate their dimensions and mount them yourself, securing them to the front frame.
  2. The second option is intended for installation in a wide loggia. In such a closet you can store clothes on hangers. True, it is advisable to place it on an insulated, or better yet, heated balcony.
  3. The third option will fit perfectly into a narrow balcony, and will also be an excellent addition to a table or cabinet. If you wish, you can install additional removable shelves on the corners yourself.

After reviewing the presented drawings, you can easily create your own project by changing or adding some parameters in accordance with the size of your balcony.

List of tools needed for carpentry work on arranging wooden cabinets.

  • screws, dowels, nails;
  • hammer;
  • chisel;
  • jigsaw or hand saw;
  • electric drill with attachments for woodworking;
  • screwdriver (set of screwdrivers);
  • ruler, pencil, tape measure, plumb line, square and building level.

Here are a few more simple tips before building a cabinet on the balcony:

  1. On a pre-glazed balcony wood trim will not suffer from dampness, will retain its attractiveness and good quality longer.
  2. It is advisable to first repair the floor on the balcony, or at least the area on which the cabinet will be installed.
  3. It is advisable to eliminate all cracks and crevices, insulate the walls and floor of the balcony, which will provide protection from temperature changes and drafts and significantly extend the life of the cabinet. For insulation, you can use polystyrene foam, PVC, or mineral wool.

After the measurements have been taken, the type of cabinet has been selected, the drawing has been drawn up, and you can begin to work directly.

Stages of self-assembly and cabinet arrangement

Even a beginner can easily handle this cabinet. To make it you will need the following materials:

The amount of pine timber must be calculated taking into account the selected dimensions of the future cabinet. For simplicity, let's take standard sizes, most suitable for the balcony space: height - 1.8 m, width - 1.5 m, depth - 0.5 m. Accordingly, the timber will be required:

  • for the lower frame 2x0.5 + 2x1.5 = 4 m;
  • for the upper frame 2x0.5 + 2x1.5 = 4 m;
  • for vertical posts 4x1.8 = 7.2 m.

You can use a sheet of laminated fiberboard as the back wall of the cabinet. This dense and waterproof material will additionally protect the structure from moisture; it is attached to the rear frame using a construction stapler or self-tapping screws.

  1. First, assemble the back and front frames of the cabinet. To do this, fasten the vertical and horizontal bars together using metal corners.
  2. Instead of corners, the beams can simply be connected with wood screws 60–75 cm long, as can be seen in the photo below.
  3. Then use self-tapping screws or staples to attach the back wall of the cabinet to the rear frame frame. After this, fix the resulting structure in the loggia opening using anchors. At this stage, you can lay a sheet of thick plywood or chipboard on the floor under the future cabinet, which will serve as the bottom.
  4. Once the frame is installed, secure it to cross beams and secure them with anchors.
  5. Attach the front frame to the ends of the beams. After this, fix it with anchors in the walls, floor and ceiling - this will give rigidity to the structure.
  6. All that remains is to screw on the guides with self-tapping screws, which will become holders for the shelves. The length of the horizontal part of the guide should be equal to the depth of the cabinet. Place the cut-to-size shelves on the guides, securing them with self-tapping screws if necessary.

In fact, a simple cabinet is already ready. You can conveniently place almost everything that is usually stored on the balcony in it: jars, boxes with clothes and small items, tools. It can also be used as a bookcase or for storing old magazines. But if there is a need to completely hide the contents of the cabinet, this design can be equipped with doors and sheathed with clapboard or plasterboard.

Selection of materials for cladding and doors

If you decide to cover a cabinet with clapboard, take wood material hardwood. There is often a lot of sun on balconies and loggias; its rays heat the surface. From this the lining is made from coniferous species begins to release resin.

The next thing to consider is the quality of the material. The cost of the lining also depends on its grade: A, B or C. Grade A material is smooth, uniform in color, it is ideal for cladding and for making furniture. Grade B has inclusions of a different color, slight roughness and unevenness, but is good in terms of price-quality ratio. But grade C lining is not suitable for cladding: uneven surface, cracks, chips and rough colors will not add aesthetics to the finished product.

Note! Since the cabinet door should be light, it is better to choose a thin lining for it.

Installing doors on a built cabinet

Using drywall

Instead of lining, you can use an even simpler and cheap option- drywall. It looks great on the finished structure and is easy to install on a ready-made frame.

  1. To begin, cover the frame with sheets of plasterboard cut to fit the cabinet. Drywall is attached to the frame with self-tapping screws.
  2. Once the framing of the frame is completed, you can begin finishing. Cover the drywall joints with reinforcing tape, putty and sand. Prime the surface and after drying coat it water-based paint. As an option, it is also possible to cover the drywall with wallpaper to match the interior of the balcony.
  3. Now all that remains is to assemble the doors. In this version of the cabinet it is preferable to install sliding doors. Due to the abundance of spare parts, it seems that it is difficult, but the diagram will easily help you understand the task.

How to arrange a corner closet from clapboard

Advantages of lining as finishing material have long been appreciated by home craftsmen. In particular, loggias are often sheathed with it. We suggest you not limit yourself to this, but use the same lining to construct a comfortable and beautiful corner cabinet. This design will be both roomy and compact, and it will not block the windows.

  • There is no need to attach racks. It is enough to nail the bars on the ceiling and floor, and fix the walls on them.
  • You shouldn’t make them too wide; 3 planks for each is enough.
  • Nail the planks to the lining on the walls, and lay shelves on them from the same lining, cut to the shape of the cabinet.
  • Place 1 plank across the bottom and top of the opening.
  • Measure the remaining distance, subtract 1.5 cm for inaccuracies.
  • Measure the lining to the stated length.
  • Adjust the number of planks according to the width doorway. In our case, 6 of them were required.
  • Knock them together into one sheet using 4 cross strips and hang them on simple door hinges.

The use of plastic panels in the manufacture of balcony furniture

It often happens that installing a cabinet made of plasterboard, lining and chipboard is impossible. These materials are sensitive to moisture, and it is sometimes difficult to make complete waterproofing on a balcony or loggia. In this case, plastic panels will come to your aid. They have many advantages over other materials:

The principle of installing a cabinet from plastic panels identical to those described above, but there is one nice feature. Plastic - pretty flexible material, and you can make the back and side walls from one wide sheet, bending it to the right areas. Before folding a thick two-layer sheet, it is enough to cut one layer at a time. In addition, the sheet can be cut into panels of the required width and fastened together with special fasteners.

Doors made of plastic panels are very light and easy to install. If the issue of saving money is not an urgent issue for you, you can order from the company already ready doors required size.

Required Tools

List of tools required for carpentry work on arranging wooden cabinets

When deciding how to make a cabinet on the balcony with your own hands, the selection of tools is not the least important. To do the job well, you will need the following set:

  • hammer drill and drills (for wood and concrete);
  • hacksaw;
  • electric jigsaw;
  • screwdriver;
  • screwdrivers;
  • self-tapping screws with dowels;
  • hammer;
  • tape measure, building level.

In addition, you will need paper and a pencil to make a drawing, as well as a marker for making notes on the parts.

Manufacturing stages

Before starting assembly, the conditions are checked - the balcony must already be glazed, it is better to first cover the walls of the loggia with thermal insulation. The most important point is a flat base - if there are differences in height, the frame of the cabinet under the load of objects will sooner or later tilt. Therefore, before starting work, check the base using building level and, if necessary, perform leveling - the easiest way is to build a deck.

If everything is ready, you can start working. To figure out how to make a wardrobe on the balcony, just follow the following steps.

  1. Drawing up a drawing. Using a tape measure, the height and width of the loggia are measured, and the required depth of the cabinet is measured. A drawing is made on paper, taking into account the size of things to be stored, the number of shelves and their height are calculated.

    Sketch of a corner cabinet for installation in a loggia or on a balcony

  2. The drawing is carefully transferred to the selected materials by scaling or marking using a level. After checking, the parts are cut out electric jigsaw and a hacksaw.
  3. Making the frame. First, marking is done using a marker and a level (or ruler) - guide lines are drawn on the walls where the frame beams will be attached.

    There are mainly two materials used for the frame: wooden beam and metal profile

  4. Boards and guides are attached directly to the wall or cladding of the loggia. Installation is carried out using a drill, self-tapping screws on a dowel, and a screwdriver. Suitable for fastenings wooden blocks or metal profile. If the cabinet is made of plasterboard, be sure to install additional elements from metal profile to increase the stability of the product.

    We fix the walls of the future cabinet on the bars, install shelves

  5. Walls made of the selected material are attached to the frame. The back of the cabinet, adjacent to the wall of the balcony, must also be covered with a sheet of plywood or chipboard - this will help protect the inside of the cabinet from humidity and temperature changes. The walls are fastened with self-tapping screws; for better fixation, furniture corners and ties are used. If the cabinet is under the ceiling, a simplified version of the design is often used, when the shelves are installed directly on the frame guides, and a frame is assembled to install the doors.

    We attach a sheet of chipboard as the back wall of the future cabinet

  6. The shelves are installed in accordance with the drawing. The material for them can be wood, chipboard or drywall - it is better to focus on the weight of the things that will be placed there.

    We attach the shelves to the corners

  7. Hinges or guides for doors are attached. Then the doors themselves are installed, with the handles for opening being attached last.

    We hang doors on a corner cabinet

After completing the work, it is recommended to cover the cabinet with an insulating coating for additional protection from moisture. It is also possible to carry an electric lamp to increase ease of use. At correct selection materials and tools, a careful and responsible approach to the work, the resulting result will delight the owners with its functionality and beauty for many years.

Video: Wardrobe on the balcony

A wardrobe for a balcony is a convenient and useful thing, but buying or ordering it is expensive, which means you can only rely on yourself. Today we will talk about how to make a cabinet on the balcony with your own hands in 2 options, plus I will talk about assembling the front panels for such cabinets.

Built-in wardrobes on balconies are not only beautiful, but also convenient.

Naturally, before you build yourself beautiful wardrobe For a balcony or loggia, this room must at least be glazed and all cracks sealed, and ideally also insulated with high quality.

We decide on the model and prepare the tool

There are not so many models of balcony cabinets, but choosing often takes more time than the construction itself. I recommend getting the whole family together and using a tape measure to decide on the spot what you need.

Common models

Many of the drawings and sketches presented below show exact dimensions and dimensions, but each balcony is individual, so I advise you to take all these options as recommendations and draw a sketch of your closet according to your dimensions.

A simple open pencil case.

This type of case is suitable for a very tiny balcony or if you don’t want to spend too much time fiddling with the assembly. The diagram shows a portable model with a façade trim around the perimeter.

If you mount such a cabinet on a loggia or balcony, then instead of the front lining you can install doors, plus the bottom, lid and back wall will be redundant.

Classic two-section layout.

This model is ideal for a wardrobe on a balcony. The arrow in the diagram shows a small gap of 100 mm from the edge of the structure to the beginning of the shelves; it is precisely this gap that can be used for installing sliding doors.

Model with drawers.

This model is almost the same as the previous one, the only difference is that there are two drawers for tools, naturally such blocks with drawers you can do as much as you want.

Corner wardrobe for a balcony or loggia.

This corner cabinet is suitable for those owners who do not want to part with part window frame, covering it with the side wall of the cabinet. It turns out that our wide rear panel borders the facade of the house, and the narrow side wall adjacent to the side wall of the balcony.

Its capacity is of course more modest, but such built-in furniture looks very impressive, plus only sliding doors, which significantly saves space.

The combined model looks impressive, but more work will have to be invested.

Any combined option it's always more work. If you look at it, here we see 2 cabinets on one frame, but the result of such work is worth the time and effort spent, your balcony furniture will clearly differ for the better.

A sales rack is a simple and quick solution to the problem.

For dessert, I suggest you think about purchasing a ready-made sales rack. In this case, you do not have to build a frame; the rack can be assembled in 15–20 minutes. But here you need a good façade panel, because the appearance of store shelves clearly will not decorate your balcony.

The big disadvantage of such retail racks is the lack alternative options, you will only have solid horizontal shelves, no drawers, niches or other interesting solutions.

A few words about the instrument

Do-it-yourself work requires the presence of a certain set of tools. The picture below shows a standard DIY kit.

A standard set of tools for a home craftsman.

In addition, it is advisable to have a jigsaw in your arsenal, miter saw, hand router, grinder and grinder.

Since we will be talking about two design options, I see no point in listing all of them now. required material, you will understand everything yourself as the story progresses.

Two options for assembling a balcony cabinet

After selection suitable design You shouldn’t prepare and cut out all the parts at once. The fact is that our balconies and loggias are far from ideal, the corners are crooked, the walls are not straight, and it is better to measure each cabinet unit locally.

Option No. 1. Assembling a structure from wooden blocks

Illustrations Recommendations

Preparing the place

The walls, floor and ceiling do not require special preparation; the only thing that needs to be done is to remove the baseboards.

Keep in mind: the width and height of the cabinet can be any, but the depth should be no more than 70 cm.

· We will assemble the frame from wooden blocks, optimal size 40×40 mm;

· If a facade panel is provided, then the shelves can be anything, chipboard, OSB, lining or planed board 20 mm thick.

I'll talk about the facade options a little later.

· You should start with markings under façade panel. Typically, cabinet doors are placed perpendicular to the front wall of the house;

· Accordingly, you need to attach a square to the wall and draw a perpendicular line on the ceiling;

· Now all you have to do is connect these two markings on the walls.

When marking, it is convenient to use the same frame bars; you simply make marks using a corner and a tape measure, and then apply the block and outline.

· We are attached only to capital foundations, that is, floor, ceiling and façade wall. On the loggias we attach the bars to the back wall;

· Mark the holes on the bars (step 50 cm);

· We apply the block to the base and use a thin drill to make holes so that markings remain on the wall;

· We drill holes in the walls and insert dowels into them (drill diameter 6 mm);

· We fasten the bars with self-tapping screws.

Vertical stand

On balconies where there is no side wall, you will have to install a far vertical stand for binding. There is nothing complicated here; the photo shows the principle of such an installation.

A foamed polyethylene gasket is needed so that the vertical spacer does not warp during temperature fluctuations.

When installing the frame, you will have to connect the bars together. The diagram shows 3 options, I recommend using corners - it's much easier.

Shelf marking In order not to measure the shelves with a tape measure, I recommend using a hydraulic level; it is much faster and more accurate.

There are often no problems with installing shelves; you simply lay sheets or planks on the bars and screw them with self-tapping screws.

Option No. 2. Balcony cabinet made of laminated chipboard

In this case, we will make a cabinet from solid laminated particle boards. In my opinion, this cabinet for the balcony is much easier to assemble with your own hands.

Illustrations Recommendations

Vertical slabs are installed first in level.

For these purposes, it is best to take standard furniture boards 16 mm thick.

By the way, cutting slabs according to the right sizes and it is better to order lamination of the ends in a workshop. If you have never encountered this, then you will not be able to do it beautifully.

The vertical slabs are attached in approximately the same way as the vertical bars in the previous version.

· Install gaskets between the slab and the floor/ceiling;

· Mark and drill holes for fastenings;

· Fix the plate with self-tapping screws. Do not forget to check the verticality of the installation with a level at each stage.

The supports for the shelves are marked using a hydraulic level.

It’s easier to buy the stops themselves at a furniture store, although if beauty is not the main thing for you, then you can use ordinary metal corners.

By the way, the normal distance between shelves is 35cm.

Now we lay the chipboard boards on the stops and fix them with self-tapping screws.

If the span is too wide and a large load is planned on the slab, then a transverse wooden block can be secured from below.

It is better to fasten the doors to furniture canopies. To install such a canopy you need to buy a round bit and cut a groove for the canopy.

The canopies themselves are attached with a pair of self-tapping screws. Place the canopy washer into the groove and screw in the screws.

Once the cabinet is assembled, all you have to do is screw the handles to the doors and use them.

Choosing a façade panel

Nowadays you won’t surprise anyone with a facade made of chipboard or lining; they look beautiful, but everyday. There are 2 options for arranging the facade more in an original way, and you can do everything yourself.

Illustrations Recommendations

Option No. 1. Shutter doors This idea has been around for hundreds of years, but in our country such doors are rarely assembled, so they look fresh and original.

As you can see in the diagram, grooves for thin wooden slats are cut out in the two side slats. The slats themselves under the blinds are installed at an angle.

The lower and upper strips of the frame are attached to the side furniture dowels.

You can see the main dimensions in the diagram. On my own behalf, I can add that the angle of inclination of the slats-blinds should be less than 45º, otherwise the contents of the cabinet will partially be visible.

The grooves for the lamellas are made up to 10 mm deep.

The grooves for the lamellas are cut out manual router, the diameter of the cutter is equal to the thickness of the strip.

In order for everything to go smoothly and parallelly, you need to buy or assemble a special holding frame with your own hands; professionals call this device a “conductor.”

All bars and lamellas must be sanded before assembly.

Diameter of blind holes furniture dowels should be 1 mm less than the diameter of the dowels themselves.

All elements are glued together with ordinary wood glue.

Such shutter doors are finished in the same way as any wood:

· First, you open up the wood with stain to give the desired tone and reveal the texture;

· Then you coat it with varnish, and the more layers of varnish you apply, the better your doors will look, but at least 2 layers are applied.

Such doors are hung on simple butterfly hinges, however, for such a facade it is desirable that the cabinet frame be assembled from bars; they are an order of magnitude stronger than laminated chipboard.

Option No. 2

The price for a good sliding mechanism is much higher than for the same doors made of chipboard, but from a technological point of view, installing doors for a sliding wardrobe is much easier.

The diagram shows one of the most common models. Here you need to secure the top and bottom rails strictly horizontally to the cabinet frame, and then cut the middle plate into the frame and insert it into the guides.

By the way, it is not necessary that such doors be made of wood or chipboard; a mirror or frosted glass is perfect here.

Conclusion

Now you know not only how to make a cabinet on the balcony with your own hands, but you can also choose between several front options for such a cabinet. If any points in my story remain unclear, write in the comments, I will try to clarify.
