Spectacular wall decoration with photo frames. Simple ideas on how to decorate a wall: photo frames as an additional element of modern design Photo frames in the bedroom interior

What makes a style, of course, is not the photo itself, but its packaging - the photo frame. It also carries the function of preserving the photograph, protecting it from direct sun rays who age her by leaps and bounds.

Photo frames in the interior - important notes

The simplest option, acceptable in any room, is a framed photograph on the table. The style of the photo frame in this case will depend on where the table is located. A strict classic frame will look impressive on a table in your office, or something delicate, romantic, and cozy on a table in a boudoir or bedroom. You can also put a voluminous photo frame on the table, which will look very impressive.

One of the most fertile places to place a photo frame is a children's room. An exhibition of photographs of a child would be appropriate here, showing how he grows and changes from year to year. You can place such an exhibition in the same strict (classical) frames, randomly in relation to each other. If you want to place different frames, then you should still keep them in the same style - childish, “fruit”, “sea”, so that they seem to be from the same series and made of the same material.

Wooden and glass frames next to each other will look quite vulgar within the same exhibition. But to combine photos next to each other different sizes quite acceptable. Thus, photo frames in the interior require harmony.

If you want to arrange the frames symmetrically, then be careful, since they will then require symmetry from everything in the interior of the room. For example, such a reception in a nursery would be at least inappropriate. You can arrange the exhibition approximately “in order of growth”, from smallest to largest, but then it’s worth adding some additional decor to the wall that will support this “thought” and echo it.

You can create a family tree consisting of a hand-drawn part in the form of a tree on the wall and correspondingly arranged photographs in oval frames. In principle, the idea of combining a drawing and a photo frame is quite successfully implemented in a children's room. In a boys' "sea" room, it could be a photograph in the porthole of a drawn ship; in a princess-style girls' room, it could be a drawing of a carriage and a photo frame instead of a window. And so on, taking into account style and design. The photo frame itself also plays a lot; now there are a lot of stylized models that successfully decorate shelves in children's rooms.

You can perfectly decorate the space around with the help of photographs. spiral staircases in the house. There is an option for a chaotic arrangement of photographs of different sizes, or you can make an exposure of photographs of the same style at approximately the same distance from the floor.

The “clock” composition will look great in the living room. Photos are placed around the clock mechanism (you can arrange family photos by age, starting with wedding ones). It looks rich and quite original. Also interesting is the option for the living room of photographic portraits, arranged like paintings and designed in the same style. Photo frames decorated in this way will look unusual in the interior.

Photo diptychs and photo triptychs, photo frames that combine two or more photographs, look elegant and tasteful.

In the bedroom, photographs fit perfectly into the bedside area: above the bed or on the bedside table.

And the corridor, the most boring room in the house, thanks to framed photographs, can become not only an art gallery, but also a keeper of family secrets and legends.

I would like to mention a few more original ideas. If there is a knitter in the house, and she decided to equip the living room in a handmade style, then hand-knitted photo frames for this room will look great.

In an avant-garde interior, it will be interesting to look at photographs “while drying”, attached with clothespins to a rope stretched along the wall, as they were attached in Soviet times people who developed photographs themselves.

IN Lately Photo frames in the form of puzzles are very relevant.

True specialists and connoisseurs of luxury design are unlikely to ignore such a detail as photo frames in the interior.

Photo frames in the interior

Posters and paintings, it's time to decide on the frames and their placement on the wall.

HOME PHOTO GALLERY. LOCATION OF PHOTOS

Which frames should you choose for your gallery? The most win-win option that guarantees the absence of chaos on the wall is to choose frames of the same color. Moreover, the size, thickness of the frame and even its shape can be different, this will not disrupt the overall harmony.

For a room filled bright colors and textures suitable for thin light frames, for example, silver frames, highlighting photographs and not overloading the interior.

For a neutral room, you can choose wider black frames, which will become the right accent in the room.

Black frames look graphic and strict. White - sophisticated and elegant.

You probably have a lot of frames in your home. various colors, sizes and shapes. Select the ones you would like to use in the gallery and evaluate how they look side by side. If you have decided on a single frame color for your photos, you can simply paint the frames that are out of the chosen range in the shade you need. Perfect for this acrylic paint, it fits well and dries quickly.

The frames are ready. It's time to decide on the scheme according to which you will organize your gallery. Frames various sizes and forms can be arranged in any order, this will make the gallery more dynamic, and in the future there will be no problems adding new photos to your gallery.

Or you can arrange identical frames in accordance with strict geometry, and the photographs should also be the same size.

If you want to experiment, you can move away from the square or rectangle shape and choose any other geometric pattern for your gallery.

If your frames are different sizes and shapes, you can arrange them so that the outer edges of your gallery form a neat rectangle or square. This will require you to pay special attention to the layout of your gallery, but the results will be great!

Alternatively, draw a straight line at eye level and center all frames of different sizes around that line. Masking tape, pasted on the wall, will help place photos perfectly straight.

You can also focus on the central object of your gallery, be it the largest photograph, poster, painting or even a mirror, and place the rest of the images around in a random or symmetrical order.

Another original way organizing a family gallery - do not hang every frame, but arrange them on shelves.

If desired, you can combine the frames hung and placed on the shelves:

Why limit yourself to just frames when organizing your gallery? Place on the wall everything that is dear to you, that reflects your inner world, that has a special meaning for you: paintings, drawings, initials of family members, souvenirs brought from vacation, Wall Clock, original sconces, mirrors - in general, everything that will enliven your composition and make it unique and original.

And of course, if you want to make your gallery unusual and original, you can combine frames different colors and textures. But in this case, you should act carefully so that the originality of the composition does not turn into confusion and chaos. For example, this gallery of black and white frames looks very harmonious due to the monochrome nature of all the photographs.

And in this case, the black frames are complemented by light brown ones, matching the color of the table, and the silver frame echoes the silver objects on the table.

In this composition, everything is interconnected and harmonious: golden frames are combined with a print on the pillow, black and white photos and drawings complement each other perfectly, and the shades of the pouf, vase and pillows echo the color scheme of the paintings.

And such colorful, original compositions will fit perfectly into the interior, which is rapidly gaining popularity these days.

And finally, a few more options for placing photographs, paintings and drawings on the wall.

Creating your own photo gallery is an opportunity to show your imagination, experiment with composition and color combinations. Let this process bring you pleasure, and then an excellent result is guaranteed!

All methods of hanging photo cards according to the type of design can be grouped into 2 main categories:

  • framed photographs;
  • photos without frames.

Sometimes the frame emphasizes or complements the interior of the room. For example, a thick, solid wood frame will fit perfectly into a classic living room. Incorrectly chosen frames may distort the image in the photo or simply not fit the surrounding environment or any interior details.

When placed well without frames, the pictures look very natural, lively, attractive and original. They have no limiters, which allows them to fit perfectly into the decor of the room.

You can attach photos to threads with hooks, clothespins, or tie them with the same strings. The tension of the thread can be adjusted, creating an interesting sagging effect.

Advice

When choosing frameless wall decoration with photographs, if desired, you can easily replace boring images with new ones and refresh the interior again.

In order for the photo wall decoration to look harmonious and beautiful, it is not enough to find bright photographs, original frames for them and select interesting figures for placement. There are certain rules that will be useful to follow so that a set of photographs on the wall or a collage looks harmonious:

  • The photo must be placed at eye level;
  • when combining pictures of different sizes, smaller ones should be placed at eye level, larger ones – at a higher level;
  • not the best profitable solution– place all photos in one line, and also create a pyramid from photos;
  • You should not combine black and white and color photographs; photographs look good in a single color scheme;
  • originality black and white photo within strict limits adds an asymmetrical arrangement;
  • many small photos on a clothespin look original if they are all placed in one large massive frame;
  • additional lighting of a composition or collage increases the effect of the spectacle;
  • bright frames or mats enliven black and white photographs;
  • creative idea - gluing photographs to the wall inside an open shelving unit;
  • Small photos with large frames look stylish;
  • The maximum attention to the photographs is attracted by placement on a white background and the addition of a white border;
  • there are special corner frames to place a photo in the corner of the room. It is important to ensure that corner photos do not overload the decor if there is not enough space in the room for standard decoration;
  • many photographs in small frames can be used to create some kind of ornament on the wall, for example, in the shape of a heart;
  • creates a gallery feel by placing photographs of different shapes and sizes on the wall in frames of different colors. You need to combine them with caution to avoid unnecessary confusion.

When choosing photographs, it is necessary to adhere to a single style that suits both the decor of the room and its purpose. For example, in the nursery there are photos of children from the moment of birth. It is logical that in the bedroom best moments couples – vacation for two, honeymoon. Photos of nature with friends are posted in the living room; images of your favorite pets are appropriate in the kitchen.

Placement principles

Usually photos are placed on the wall one at a time. of 2 principles:

  • equilibrium;
  • symmetry.

When placed symmetrically, you can place big photo in the center and the pictures coming from it are reduced. For example, 2 large photographs, and under them 4 small ones, and so on. The images in the photo are not as important as their shape, maintaining symmetry during placement and alignment along the axes.

The principle of balance is to balance the whole picture. If there is one huge poster on one side, then 4 small photographs should be placed next to it. You can balance the final picture with an object hanging on the wall or standing nearby. It could be a mirror, a floor lamp, a sconce, a clock - they add a feature to the composition and make it interesting.

Photos on clothespins

The idea of decorating the walls of a room with photographs, which is rapidly gaining popularity, is quite simple in its implementation. First, you will need to select your favorite photos, process them, select the size and print them.

After that, find a place on the wall, drive several nails into it and stretch vertical ropes between them. Fishing line, threads, fabric, clothesline, wire, wires and any other available materials can be chosen as the basis.

Depending on the size of the photos, you can buy special decorative clothespins small size, which will look more harmonious with small pictures. Then you need to place several photos in a row, another row below it, and so on.

When tensioning the ropes, you can adjust the degree of sagging. They can either be perfectly smooth or create the effect of hanging garlands.

You can try hanging photographs on clothespins not on a horizontal rope, but on a vertical one, which will look no less original. Other decorative elements can be placed between them.

Advice

The composition will look especially bright when combining black and white photographs and bright contrasting details.

Photo collage

A photo collage for wall decoration is one of the fashionable, stylish and beautiful solutions for interior decoration. But often many are faced with the problem of correct and original location collage on the wall.

Options for successfully placing a collage without frames can be:

Compliance with the geometric shape of a rectangle. It is necessary to outline an area on the wall where the collage will be placed with clear boundaries. Inside it you need to combine many personal photos in vertical and horizontal positions.

Advice

Special computer programs for creating collages will help you combine photos correctly.

Filling the entire wall with photographs. To do this, you can order photo wallpapers at custom development and just stick the paper on the wall. You can do this manually by choosing a material for securely mounting photos. In this case, the entire wall can be filled with both small and large photographs.

Order modular paintings, which will also create an original collage. They can fill an entire wall. They look more original when there are spaces between them.

Collages can also be created using photo frames. Such ideas will be relevant:

  • Purchasing a ready-made frame for many photographs, which is simply hung on the wall.
  • Purchasing identical frames to create a monochromatic and discreet composition on the wall.
  • Using a variety of frames in the same style to decorate the wall. This option allows you to constantly supplement the composition with new photographs in the future.

Clock from photo

If there are not enough clocks in the interior, and the walls seem empty, then you can solve these two problems at the same time.

Advice

Choose this technique for decoration if the wall decoration is monochromatic or has a large, unobtrusive pattern. This way, the photographs will not get lost among the colorful and small ornaments.

You can take a ready-made watch in a minimalist style as a basis. It is desirable that the dial does not have numbers or any markings. Ideally, large, long hands should be attached to the clock mechanism. Each hour will be marked with a corresponding framed photo, meaning a total of 12 photos will be needed.

As a result, you may end up with the following tree options with photos:

  • a tree with a lush crown, inside of which photographs are hidden;
  • tree with autumn orange leaves;
  • cherry blossoms with branches fancy shapes, spread out along the wall;
  • a Gothic image of a tree with black foliage, an ornate crown and even birds;
  • a tree with young green foliage or also with fruits;
  • colorful fairy tree for the nursery;
  • a powerful spreading oak covering the entire wall;
  • old genealogical family tree.

In fact, there may be many more ideas. It all depends on your imagination and the environment.

Not only a free wall in a room can be a good place to place a tree. For example, this could be a corner of the room where spreading branches will extend onto both walls. You can create the illusion that a small tree with photographs is placed on a cozy bedside table in the hallway or hallway.

A tree with branches directed in one direction should be placed at the opposite end of the wall. You can put a sofa under it. This is how you can convey the atmosphere of a garden. In children's bedrooms, trees look organically, the branches of which, as if by chance, slightly extend onto the adjacent wall or ceiling.

Decorating a children's room

In the nursery you can carry out various ideas and experiments. Here, any errors in placement can look original and cute. Frames can be chosen in different sizes and shapes, and combined with each other.

At the same time, they need to choose juicy photographs with the best childhood moments. For a children's room, you can use the following wall decoration ideas:

  • Placing photos on threads or ropes with multi-colored clothespins. If the child is very small, then this should be done at such a level that he cannot reach and tear the pictures.
  • You can create a bright colorful collage on the wall near the sofa. The pictures are supplemented with small favorite images of the child. You can also use his works and crafts, for example, drawings, embroideries, a collection of butterflies.
  • The wood option is great for a child's room. You can decorate such a tree not only with your favorite photographs, but also with bright colorful animals, flowers and plants.
  • Arranging framed photos on numerous shelves on one wall is a combination of beauty and practicality.
  • Photos on a rope can be supplemented with bright garlands created from paper-cut butterflies, flowers, cars, helicopters, thread buboes and other tinsel.

In the living room

The living room is filled with coziness when there is a in the right order Scene photographs are posted. A room with well-placed abstractions looks no less attractive.

Designers consider decorating a wall with personal photographs to be the most emotional form of design art.

Therefore, if the room lacks emotionality, then the solution is to place photos on the walls. For the living room, it is important to adhere to a consistent style in the size of the frames. It matters what size or color they are.

The main thing is unity. You cannot combine a wooden frame, for example, with glass. It looks tasteless and vulgar. More harmony is added to photographs by enclosing them in a mat and adding an outer frame.

To do this, you can choose one of three options color solutions for the living room:

  • in 3 colors – color photographs, mats, frames;
  • lack of saturation - black and white design with an antique bias or, conversely, minimalism;
  • something in one color - if this is a photo, then a white mat, a black or white frame, only the frame or only the mat can remain colored.

Selection depending on the style of the room

An important role when decorating walls with personal images is played by the existing interior in the room. It often happens that the decor in the hall, hallway or bedroom simply bores the owners. I don’t want to do any renovations, but I need to freshen up the room. Therefore, it is enough to take suitable photographs, choose frames for them or not frame them at all, and find a suitable placement scheme. Each style has its own specific technique:

Pop art, modern and other similar youth styles are practiced non-standard approach to choosing a photo. You can use specially printed custom posters, complement photos with posters and quotes. Overall, this collage looks extraordinary. Quotes can be applied to the wall yourself using a stencil or you can buy ready-made stickers.

In those styles that are close to handmade, you can bring to life ideas for decorating photos with homemade frames, for example, with embroidered ornaments, knitted flowers, decorated borders and any other original ideas.

There was a time when posting photographs on walls was considered almost bad form. What stupidity! Family photos, full of warmth and love, vivid impressions from travel - all this should please the eye, and not gather dust in thick albums. The main secret is to correctly arrange all these memories so that they become a decoration of the interior, its highlight. Today, the editors of the site are completely immersed in the question of how to choose the right frames for photographs on the wall and place them according to all the canons of artistic composition.

Beautiful collage on the wall - great idea decor

Choosing frames for photos is not as easy as it seems at first glance. Come to the store and there is a whole gallery of frames, different in shape, size and decor. How not to get lost in this diversity? Little advice: before you go shopping, sketch out a sketch or plan for placing a photo on the wall. Select subjects for your exhibition and imagine within what framework they will look most advantageous.

Shape and size matter

Most often, photographs are placed in rectangular frames. But pay attention to your photo: maybe there is an uninteresting corner or part in it, and it would be better to frame it in a square or round, oval frame? For those who love creativity, there are other shape options: hearts, stars, diamonds or freeform shapes.

Ask a Question

“Choose the most prominent wall in the room to place photo collages. In the living room it is the wall opposite the entrance, in the bedroom it is above the head of the bed.”

Is it possible to adjust space using a photo?

Modular images are ideal for visual correction. They can be placed without frames to create a holistic feel. The result is an imitation window that adds spaciousness to the room.

Dividing the picture into three and more parts is a riddle that attracts the eye. If you make a breakdown in such a way that you get several rectangular parts located vertically, you will “raise” them; horizontally located fragments will make them wider narrow room. Square parts will correct a ceiling that is too high.

How to choose the right midline height in a collage

The most common mistake in creating a collage is a chaotic arrangement of photos, without a unifying idea. This does not mean that strict conformity of shapes and symmetry must be observed.

Ideally, they are located opposite the eyes, so that to study the photo you can only slightly turn your head up or down. This is the middle line in the photo gallery. Designers recommend placing it at a height of 152 centimeters from the floor.

How to create a general composition from different photos

There are a few simple rules, observing which, you can create the ideal composition:

  • the gallery should have a vertical or horizontal axis around which images are placed;
  • maintain balance and symmetry relative to the guiding axis of the collage;
  • maximum number of different sizes and shapes of frames – 3;
  • place photos similar in subject and color scheme side by side;
  • There should be large photos in the center of the composition, smaller ones at the edges.

The principle of symmetry in the placement of images

If you attach a photo above the sofa, focus on its center - this way you will get a symmetrical composition. For photo above dining table it is permissible to move away from the recommended 152 centimeters midline. It is better if the pictures are placed at eye level of a sitting person. Make sure that the gallery does not “run away” from the table, but is placed strictly above it.

In this case, the images need to be fixed so that they are located at a distance of one and a half meters from the steps. It turns out that the collage repeats the steps, as if playing with it. It is important that the distance between the photos on the wall is the same.

How to highlight the central photo on the wall

Selecting the central photo is easy. It should be different from others anyway large sizes. If you want, you can accentuate attention with a contrasting frame, or a wider frame than all the others. The central photo can be framed unusual shape. But keep in mind that to maintain symmetry, such a frame must be repeated in at least one of the smaller frames.

Photos help us store important memories of events that happened earlier: family vacations, weddings, celebrations, meetings with friends. Previously, they were invested in albums, now they are mainly found on electronic media.

But why hide them - photos can be hung on the wall - this is an easy and economical wall decor!

But how nice it would be to see the most important photos not once a year, for example, but every day! They can be colored or black and white, glossy or matte, perhaps even with an antique effect, but they are all so familiar and pleasing to the eye and heart.

In this article we will look in detail at diagrams and methods of hanging photographs on the wall, as well as how to do it correctly.

Let us analyze in detail all the schemes and methods for arranging photos on the wall.

Along a horizontal line

It can be photos of the same size, or gradually from small increase (or vice versa). Draw a line and align the bottom edge of each photo along it.

Along an inclined line

Similar to the previous method, only here you draw an inclined straight line and the corner of each photo should approximately touch it.

TIP: Take photos of the same size, or large at the bottom, and make them smaller towards the top.

Rectangle or square

  1. The easiest option for this method is to choose all photos are the same size and place them at the same distance from each other, then the rectangle will turn out on its own.
  2. But you can also outline the outline of a rectangle or square and select photographs so that the edges of the side, top and bottom photos clearly coincide with the lines. This way, it’s like putting together a puzzle of photographs of different sizes.

Symmetrical along an arc

This method will look good if the arc passes, for example, around a mirror or a clock. Or it can be obtained by attaching a photo to a thread (read further in attachment methods).

Chaotic

ATTENTION: Even when hanging photos chaotically, keep in mind that they should look harmonious together. Think about what photos should be nearby.

Forming a drawing

For example, we put together a heart, a flower, a cloud from photographs

Methods for posting photos

Let's look at all the ways you can mount photos on the wall.

Hang in frames on the wall

This is a classic decoration option, and the frames can be wooden, metal or colored plastic.

Also, each of them can be separately decorated with such various decorative elements as beads, buttons, colored paper, fabric, ribbons, stones, rhinestones– whatever comes to mind, the main thing is that the decoration matches and matches the style of the photo.

Arrange in frames on shelves

Everything that concerns the frames from the previous point remains, only here we will not hang them on the walls, but place them on shelves, racks, bedside tables and tables.

Large photo frame

If you have a large and beautiful frame from a mirror or picture, you can pull the threads inside and post a photo. Also, such a frame made of baguette can be ordered in any workshop.

Attach to the wall with double-sided tape

A simple method, and less expensive in terms of money than the previous ones, because you don’t have to spend money on a frame, just print out the photo and hang it up. And it will be faster in time, no holes need to be drilled.

Hang threads on the wall and attach photos to them with clothespins

Nailed two studs at opposite ends of the wall, stretch a string between them, and hang the photographs, securing them with clothespins.

  • As soon as the photos begin to get boring, quickly change them to others; here this will not be any problem: you don’t need to rearrange the frames, or peel the photos off the wall, thereby damaging the wallpaper.
  • Can hang some ropes on different levels, thus decorating the entire wall.

TIP: The rope can be pulled tighter or looser by controlling the slack and placing the photo either in a straight line or in an arc.

.

Hang on wooden sticks

  • In the photo in the upper corners we make a hole and thread a thread through them, then take a thin wooden stick to size approximately the width of the photo.
  • And we tie these strings to the edges.
  • Now we take another thread and tie it along the edges of our homemade stick frame and we hang our entire structure on a nail using this thread.

Where to hang

The best place to hang a photo is in places that attract the most attention: for example, around the TV, above the sofa, above the bed. Photos can also fill and beautifully decorate any empty wall.

On the whole wall

If you have a whole empty wall, then photographs in the best possible way will fill this space. Select photos, a diagram and a hanging method and go ahead!

Above the sofa

Most often, there is empty space above the sofa, table or bedside table: the shelf will most likely get in the way, leaving the choice between a painting or photographs.

  • If you stopped at the photographs, then further actions are similar to the previous point, only there will be a little less space.
  • Although, even on an empty wall, most often they hang it not from the floor, but just at least a meter from the floor, so everything is the same.

Around the TV

Usually the wall on which the TV hangs is empty. But you can beautifully design her photo.

In the bedroom and above the desk

Photos above your desk or at the head of your bed will save you from the problem of buying any decorations.

Around mirrors, paintings, windows

The mirror will serve as the center of your exhibition and form a photo collage around itself. The mirror does not have to be the same shape as the frame. Considered great round mirror and square frames.

On a blank wall in the corridor

In 3 or 2 room apartments old layout often has a blank wall at the end narrow corridor. Usually it is completely non-functional. But if you hang a photo on it and light it up, it will become much more cozy!

In an empty corner

The corners of the walls are most often empty, since protruding objects are easy to catch when moving. But the photographs are flat and a collage of them can decorate this part of the apartment in an original way.

  • Along the steps or on the wall under the steps (if a private house or two-story apartment)
  • You climb the steps slowly, look at the photographs and do not feel any fatigue. Alternatively, you can hang photographs from bottom to top as the children grow older.

How to hang it correctly

In order not to be disappointed in the result after attaching the photos, you need to initially plan how they will hang, and only then hang them. Let us roughly divide the planning process into three stages:

STEP #1: Mark

  1. First, make a sketch of the hanging diagram on a piece of paper, then make corresponding notes on the wall.
  2. Please note that the center attention will be at eye level, on average 160 cm,
  3. do not go right to the end of the wall, leave 20 centimeters.

STEP #2: Make a template

  1. Cut out the dimensions of the frames from newspapers or leaves and attach them to the wall according to the chosen pattern.
  2. See how it will actually look, make adjustments if you don’t like something.

STEP #3: Mount to the wall

Now, in place of each paper sketch, you can safely attach the selected photos and enjoy the result. Depending on the hanging method, you may have to drive in nails, in which case stock up on the necessary tools.

You can also attach signs with inscriptions near the photographs or simply write on the wall about the image, for example: vacation in the mountains, graduation, and the like.

Enjoy the memories and do not forget to create new unique life moments!
