How to make your own concrete well cover. Do-it-yourself well cover - types of structures and their manufacture. Cover for a well made of metal corners

The purpose of well covers and the requirements for them. Varieties of products and choice of materials for their manufacture. Assembly technology of the most popular designs.

Description and purpose of the well cover

The lid is a rigid structure made of waterproof material that reliably covers the source. Its main purpose is to prevent debris from entering the well.

In addition, it performs other functions:

  • Maintains a constant temperature in the mine, which ensures continuous pumping of water in severe frosts.
  • Doesn't let through Sun rays in internal cavity trunk, provoking the appearance of algae in the source.
  • Provides well ventilation.
  • The product can decorate a site if it is made in the same style as the rest of the buildings.
The wooden cover for the well is made one-piece or double; in the latter case, it consists of a fixed part and a hatch. The sash opens by lifting up or moving to the side.

The product must meet the following requirements:

  1. The material can withstand significant weight to make the source safe for children. For the same reason, the hatch is locked with a bolt or another method.
  2. Gaps between boards or other elements are not allowed.
  3. The product can be easily lifted or removed.
  4. The structure is quickly replaced if damaged.
  5. The material is resistant to fading and fading. It does not deteriorate when exposed to moisture.
  6. In areas with harsh winters, the product can be insulated.

How to make a well cover

There are many types of lids for containers. Their choice depends on several factors: the capabilities and preferences of the owner of the site, the length of free time of the foreman, the characteristics of the shaft head, the ease of use of the source, etc. Before making a cover for the well, determine all of its functional responsibilities. Its shape and design depend on this. Let's consider the design and methods of manufacturing the most popular types of protective elements.

Wooden cover for a well

Wood - comfortable material for the manufacture of products, since the blanks are easy to process. It is not difficult to make a round or square lid from boards and beams. There are easy-to-implement options when there are no elements for fastening the structure to the shaft - it is simply removed from the head. The diameter of the well cover must be larger than the opening. Double-leaf structures are fixed on hinges and tilted 90 degrees.

To protect against the harmful effects of water, lumber is impregnated with antiseptics and coated with paint or varnish. The service life of a properly manufactured cover is at least 5 years. The structures are often used to decorate the above-ground part of the well. They are often made double to insulate the internal cavity of the building.

For manufacturing, it is recommended to use beams and boards from waterproof wood species - elm, aspen. Lids made of oak or larch do not rot for a very long time due to the presence of tannins in the wood. The most practical are boards made of pine and spruce. Due to the presence of resin in the wood, their service life is quite long, but it is necessary to remember the softness of conifers.

Owners are attracted by the following qualities of wooden lids:

  • Aesthetic design.
  • It is easy to make a wooden well cover yourself.
  • Acceptable price.
  • At correct processing The cover material does not rot for a very long time.
  • The product does not freeze and does not heat up red-hot in the summer, as happens with metal structures.
  • The tree is safe for water.
Disadvantages include the need to insulate the structure, as well as rotting of lumber in the absence or damage of the protective layer.

To make the lid you will need the following elements:

  1. Dry hewn boards 150x20 mm, preferably with a tongue-and-groove locking system;
  2. Lumber sealant;
  3. Slats 40x40 mm;
  4. Fasteners and accessories - handles, nails, screws;
  5. Antiseptics and paints.
The lid manufacturing sequence is as follows:
  • Measure the outside and inner dimensions well shafts.
  • Cut from blanks wooden blocks and boards required sizes, allowing you to make a shield to cover the barrel.
  • Make a frame from the bars, the dimensions of which should correspond to the dimensions of the well opening.
  • Place the boards on the bars and make sure that they protrude beyond the slats by the thickness of the shaft walls. The size of the well cover will correspond to the outer diameter of the well head.
  • Press the sections tightly together and nail them to the slats. Make sure there are no gaps between them.
  • To increase strength, nail a third one between two bars from the wrong side.
  • If the well is round, use a saw to shape the shield into the desired shape.
  • Make a chamfer at the ends of the boards with a plane.
  • Seal the cracks with sealant. It will also act as a damper and compensate for seasonal changes in size wooden product. Instead of sealant, the cracks can be closed with thin strips.
  • Sand the surface of the shield using sandpaper.
  • Cover the boards with drying oil and then paint or varnish. To decorate the surface, a stain of the color " bog oak" or "mahogany".
  • Secure the handles to make it easier to lift the product.
The lumber cover in its simplest design is simply placed on top of the shaft. It will be supported on the boards, and from moving into horizontal plane it is held in place by bars.

One side of the shield can be attached to the head using hinges or rubber strips. In this case, it can be raised 90 degrees. A product without a central hatch is most often used if water is pumped out by a pump. It can be left on for a long time.

To insulate the well cover with your own hands, nail the second row of boards (with inside) to the sheathing beams. Make it a little smaller internal diameter springs. Fill the gaps between rows with hay or straw. After installation in its original place, the product will be supported on the upper boards, and the lower one with an insulating layer will be located in the cavity of the barrel. This design allows you to close the well more tightly and maintain a positive temperature in the mine in winter. Make the insulated cover from thin boards to reduce its weight.

A wooden lid with a hinged hatch is used when water is collected in buckets. It consists of a fixed part and a hatch. The static element is attached to the top of the shaft. In its middle there is a hatch consisting of two doors that open on hinges. For work you will need the same materials as for the product in the previous section.

Sequence of work when making the lid:

  1. Determine the dimensions of the well head.
  2. Prepare two 40x40 mm bars and required amount boards
  3. Make a shield to size from boards and bars outer surface mines. In the center of the product, leave a rectangular hole for the hatch flaps.
  4. Nail wooden blocks around the perimeter of this opening to prevent the doors from sagging.
  5. Make two doors from boards and slats, which should fit into the opening with a small gap and rest on the bars along its perimeter.
  6. Place the doors in their original position in the closed position.
  7. Temporarily fasten one part of the hinge with nails to the block on the lid, and the second to the hatch.
  8. Repeat the operation for the second half.
  9. Check how the doors open and close. If the result is satisfactory, finally secure the hinges.
  10. Screw the handles to the doors.
  11. Seal the gaps in the moving and fixed parts with sealant.
  12. To protect against moisture, cover the lumber with drying oil and paint it.
  13. Install the structure onto the well shaft and secure it in any way.
Instead of two movable doors, you can make one. Often the hatch is abandoned and half the shield is raised.

Metal lid with hinges

The design is a frame made of metal corners or profiles, covered with textolite, with a hatch in the center. It is irrational to make a product entirely from metal; it will be very heavy. Any shape of the well cover is allowed, but it is easier to make a rectangular structure.

You will need the following materials:

  • Metal corners;
  • Profiles with square section;
  • Metal tape having a width of 40-50 mm;
  • Textolite fabric;
  • Hinges and handles;
  • Metal sealant and paint.
Sequence of making a rectangular lid:
  1. Measure the dimensions of the shaft head and add 10 cm to each side.
  2. Using the obtained values, cut 4 metal corners from the blanks.
  3. Weld them into a rectangular frame for the stationary part of the lid, which is intended for installation on the head of the well.
  4. Clean the weld areas with a grinder.
  5. Weld another frame of the same size from the corners (under the hatch).
  6. Cut sections of the profile pipe and weld them inside the hatch frame around the perimeter of the product (at the corners) and also crosswise. Clean the welding areas and coat with primer.
  7. Cut 2 sheets of textolite according to the size of the sash.
  8. Install the panels on the frame, top and bottom, secure with self-tapping screws. For insulation, place a heat insulator between the sheets - polystyrene foam, basalt wool etc.
  9. Wrap metal tape around the concrete cap.
  10. Collect along the perimeter of the mine wooden formwork. Its dimensions must correspond to the dimensions of the fixed part of the structure.
  11. Fill the gap between the formwork and the metal strip with concrete.
  12. Install the previously made metal frame onto the structure and secure it with core bolts.
  13. After the concrete has hardened, place the hatch on the stationary part and screw the hinges to lift it.
  14. Fix the handle to the PCB.
  15. Paint all metal parts of the structure with enamel.

Concrete cover for well

This product is intended for wells made of concrete rings, the heads of which are not planned to be improved. A hole is made in the center of the slab, closed with a wooden or metal hatch. Instead, you can build a wooden house over the mine.

The concrete cover is made as follows:

  • Dig a circular hole 100mm deep. Its diameter must correspond to the outer diameter of the concrete rings.
  • Cover the bottom and walls with PVC film.
  • Knock down a box from the boards and install it in the center of the hole. There will be a hole for the hatch in this place.
  • Prepare a concrete solution and fill the hole with a layer of 5 cm.
  • Place reinforcement mesh over the mixture.
  • Fill the hole to the top with concrete.
  • Level the surface.
  • After the mass has hardened, install the cover for the well on the head of the shaft.
  • Seal the gaps between the slab and the ring with cement mortar.
  • Make a hatch and secure it to the product with hinges. The door is made of wood or textolite, as described above.

DIY well house

Instead of a hatch, you can build a top in the form of a house with a gable roof above the neck of the well. This option has enough complex design, so it won’t hurt to draw a drawing of the well cover and draw up the sequence of its assembly. The manufacturing technology for the building is the same as for construction gable roof, only very small sizes. For work you will need beams with a section of 50x50 and 80x80 mm and boards.

The frame of the product consists of a thick horizontal beam, to which four bars of a smaller cross-section are attached at an angle. Their length depends on the size of the well neck. With a diameter of 1 m, the length of the slats should be 800 mm.

Installation of the well house is carried out as follows:

  1. Saw down the lower ends of the thin bars at the same angle.
  2. Connect the frame elements together with self-tapping screws.
  3. Attach additional spacers to the corners of the structure to increase rigidity.
  4. Install the frame at the end of the well shaft so that the beam with a cross-section of 80x80 mm is located horizontally, and the thin slats rest on the upper ring of the shaft.
  5. Attach the bars to the neck in any way.
  6. Sew one long side and both short sides of the canopy with lumber, nailing it to the frame.
  7. Make a hole in the board on one short side for the gate. On the side walls all the blanks will be various sizes, so each element will have to be measured locally before installation.
Attach doors on the open side of the house. Perform the following operations:
  • Fasten two bars in the open opening that determine the width of the sash.
  • Make a frame for the sash, the dimensions of which should be slightly smaller than the opening on the canopy. Cover it with boards, and they should extend beyond the frame bars. To strengthen it, nail another strip in the middle of the door.
  • Secure the door to the canopy frame using hinges. Check the ease of opening the sash.
  • Sew up the openings on the sides of the door with boards.
To protect the house, paint or sheathe the top moisture-resistant material, for example, a painted sheet of metal.

Many areas have wells. To protect drinking water from contamination, freezing in winter and heating in summer, it should be covered with a lid. Let's look at several common and simple options for making a well cover yourself.

To make a well cover you can use various materials. Each of them has its own advantages. But there are also clear leaders on this list.

Wooden cover for a well

Tree Excellent as a material for a well cover:

  • practical to use,
  • easy to process
  • has high aesthetic qualities.

You should choose the most durable wood: this is oak, aspen, elm, larch, pine.

Size And form the covers will depend on the design of the neck of the well itself. Extremely simple and quick option– a cover in the form of a hatch, hinged or removable. To prevent the water from freezing in winter even in severe frost, it is better to make a two-layer lid. For this you will need:

  • dry processed boards, bars;
  • handles, hinges;
  • metal hinges or a belt made of thick thick rubber;
  • nails;
  • hammer, screwdrivers, hacksaw;
  • measurement tools.

First you need to decide on the measurements. To securely position the cover in the well opening, lining made of bars is required. The resulting sheathing is sheathed with thin boards and equipped with hinges. Instead of hinges, it is permissible to use a rubber belt. Attached at different ends to the work and the lid, it will communicate them.
Having made two covers of the same diameter, one of them is installed at the bottom of the well neck, the other at the top. In the cold season, a layer of insulation is laid between them.

As pens For a wooden lid, ordinary bars packed next to each other are suitable. Or you can purchase ready-made metal handles, including those with a lock or lock.

Textolite cover for a well

Lasting modern material based on resin impregnated plastic, called textolite, also good for making a well cover. Working with it is not burdensome, and the result is decent. This thing will last for many years. So, during the work you will need:

  • textolite sheet;
  • metal corner;
  • pipe with a square or rectangular cross-section;
  • sealing paste;
  • cement;
  • handle, hinges;
  • welding machine, grinding machine;
  • fasteners;
  • hammer, screwdriver;
  • roulette.

First the creation is measured. According to the measurements, a quadrangular frame is welded from the corner. The joints of the structural joints are welded on both sides, external and internal, and subsequently processed with a grinder.

The profile pipe is cut into sections, the length of which should be 1 cm shorter than each side of the angle frame. They are placed inside it along the perimeter and welded to the base. Welding seams are also cleaned.

According to the dimensions of the metal frame, two identical plates are cut out of textolite. A layer of any insulation is placed between them, the resulting “sandwich” is fastened with self-tapping screws, and the edges are treated with sealant.

The cover and frame are connected by hinges pre-installed using bolts or a welding machine. The finished cover is placed on the well, the frame is strengthened with cement. Finally, a handle is attached to the lid; the structure can be painted to give it a more attractive look.

Concrete cover for well

A heavy concrete cover is suitable for a conventional well made of concrete rings, designed without unnecessary frills. It is more convenient to use a lid in the form concrete slab with a hole in the center, which is closed by a door made of plastic, wood or metal. You need to prepare:

  • wooden boards;
  • plastic film;
  • mesh for reinforcement;
  • concrete mixture.

A hole is being dug round shape with a wall height of 10-15 cm. Its diameter and the diameter of the well rings must be equal.

The inside of the earthen blank is lined with film. To form an opening for the door, a wooden structure in the form of a square, knocked together from 4 boards, is installed in the middle of the pit equal length. Its edges are also wrapped in polyethylene.

The formwork is poured in a layer concrete mortar 5 cm thick. A mesh for reinforcement is placed in the unhardened mass, and the pit is filled to the top with concrete.

After a few days, when the concrete has completely hardened, the lid is removed from the workpiece. It is placed on the well, the joints with the body are covered with cement solution. The hole is decorated with a door made from available material.

Greenhouses Greenhouse "Kremlevskaya" - express cultivation of vegetables in your garden

While the seedlings on your windowsill are still growing, and summer season is not open, there is time to think about what kind of greenhouse for...

Since time immemorial, the design of a well assumed the presence of a wooden house-lid in the traditional Russian style, which not only protected the water from various garbage, but also served as a storage place for buckets.

The main purpose of the cover is to protect the well from the ingress of precipitation, dust, and various debris that clog drinking water.

However, over time, a do-it-yourself well cover, created in the shape of a house, lost its popularity, and water increasingly began to be extracted using pumps, relegating buckets to the distant past. Instead of houses, special covers are installed over the wells, which can easily be made with your own hands.

Functional “responsibilities” of the lid

A reliable well cover must perform several functions at once. Its purpose is to prevent well shaft garbage, dust, sediment, birds and animals. The cover must be firmly fixed to the well and be able to support the weight of children playing on the surface. However, these are not all the functions assigned to the lid. Another purpose of the design is to ensure sufficient ventilation of the well. In areas where the air temperature drops below -20°C during the cold season, the lid should prevent the water from freezing.

Wooden structures for wells

It is very easy to make a cover for a well from wood, since wood can be easily processed, which means it can be easily adjusted to the size of the well.

  • 6 wooden blocks measuring 200x300mm;
  • stainless steel;
  • dry hewn boards with grooves;
  • pens;
  • roofing material;
  • hinges;
  • yardstick;
  • nails, screws;
  • hacksaw;
  • dense rubber belt;
  • hammer;
  • screwdrivers.

When choosing the main material, experts recommend choosing oak, birch, pine or aspen.

Before you begin the process of assembling the cover, take accurate measurements of the length and width of the well. After this, make a crate from wooden blocks, the shape of which will completely repeat the dimensions of the creation itself. The finished sheathing is sheathed with board. For getting robust construction additionally strengthen the lid wooden beam in the center on the bottom side. In this way, two identical doors are made: lower and upper. One of them is installed in the lower part of the work, and the other in the upper part. In the cold season, you can place a straw cushion between the covers to insulate the well.

Wood is easy to process, so the lid will be easy to adjust to the size of the well.

To prevent lifting the lid from becoming a difficult and difficult task, nail or screw handles made of iron or wood to the surface of each of them. Mount the handles on the well cover until it is attached to the well.

After the covers are completely ready, they are attached to the well using hinges. You can replace the hinges with a rubber belt, to one end of which the lid is nailed, and the other end is attached to the work.

To secure the lid to the work as firmly as possible, make a sheathing of wooden blocks or metal corners along the edges of its upper and lower parts. They are the ones who will hold the lid elements.

To give an aesthetic appearance, the lid can be coated with varnish or paint. It is worth performing the procedure before attaching it to the belt or hinges.

Stages of installing a PCB cover

If you built a well with your own hands, then the lid for it can be made on the basis of textolite, which is a very durable but easy-to-process material. To work you will need:

  • textolite;
  • metal corners;
  • sealant;
  • profile pipes;
  • hinges, handles;
  • concrete;
  • welding machine;
  • self-tapping screws, bolts;
  • hammer, screwdrivers;
  • Bulgarian;
  • yardstick.

Textolite - durable material not inferior in strength to metal. It can be easily processed with special tools.

As with the wooden lid, measure the dimensions of the creation. Taking into account the data obtained, cut the metal corners at an angle of 45°. The result will be 4 segments, from which it is necessary to obtain a metal quadrangle by welding. To ensure the frame gains strength, weld the corners on the outside and inside. Clean the marks from the welding machine using a grinder.

The next step is cutting profile pipes. The length of the pipes should be 1 cm less than the length of the corners. Insert the pipe sections around the perimeter of the base into a metal frame and weld them to it using a welding machine. Treat the resulting weld seams with a grinder.

Make two plates from PCB, the dimensions of which will correspond to the dimensions of the frame. Install insulation between the resulting PCB sheets, then fasten them together using self-tapping screws, and cover the seams with a layer of sealant. The result is a cover that must be connected to the frame using regular hinges. To install the hinges, you can use the welding or bolting method. To install the cover from boards, form a formwork on the well and cement it. After installing the frame with a cover, cover the surface with a layer of concrete or cement. For ease of use, screw the handle to the lid.

In the recent past, the most popular protective structure for a well was a house. And this is not surprising, because it not only prevents debris from entering the water, but also serves as storage for buckets.

Currently, due to the use of pumps instead of buckets, such buildings have lost their relevance. They were replaced by lids. These products are designed quite simply, so they can easily be made independently. We will now tell you how to make a cover for a well.

Functions of a well cover

First of all, let's decide what functions our future product should perform.

They are as follows:

  • protecting the mine from dust and various foreign objects entering it;
  • preventing animals and birds from entering the well;
  • ensuring the safety of children who may play near the well - for this, the lid on the well made of wood or other material must be tightly closed. In addition, it must withstand the weight of children playing on it;
  • prevention of freezing - the well covering should not allow water to freeze.

Types of well covers

All existing coatings for wells can be divided into several types:

  1. Plastic– are usually made of polyurethane. It is quite durable, free of harmful impurities and has low thermal conductivity. This allows it to be used for insulation purposes. Installation of such a product is not complicated: the cover on the polyurethane well is simply placed on the upper concrete ring;

Related articles:

  1. Wooden– they are created from oak or pine boards. In the center of the structure there is often a rectangular recess equipped with two doors. Appearance This product is very aesthetic. In addition, its price is also attractive;

  1. Cast iron– have a round or square shape. They are attached using special bolts to a previously installed reinforced concrete element. Cast iron covers for wells are reliable and long term services;

  1. Steel– their base and frame are made of steel angles and profiles. Textolite, which is a fairly durable material, is used as a covering material;

In the photo - steel version

  1. Reinforced concrete– they are installed on the top ring, or between the top and subsequent rings. Such structures are blind or have a hole for installing a hatch.

Advice! Reinforced concrete well covers must comply with established technical manufacturing standards. Otherwise, their operation will be short-lived and unsafe. Therefore, you should not think about how to fill the well cover, but it is better to purchase it from a certified manufacturer.

Making your own well covers

Wooden cover

Before you start creating a wood covering, you need to measure the internal and outer diameters top ring. Having fixed the value of these parameters, we make a sheathing from the bars. Then we cover it with planks that have grooves on their edges.

Note that wooden cover for a well it must be double. This will improve its thermal insulation properties.

To create it, you need to make another similar coating. It will become the lower element of our product, and the first will be its upper part.

By connecting the parts to each other, we make additional insulation. To do this, fill the space between the blanks with hay or sawdust.

If you need to get water from the well using a bucket, you should make an opening in the lid. This will prevent you from opening it every time the water rises.

In this case, the wooden cover of the well is equipped with one or two doors. They open using installed metal hinges. To make it easier to open the doors, wooden handles are attached to them.

Advice! Instead of metal hinges, you can use a rubber belt. One end of it is attached to the opening, and the other to the shutter element. This will allow you to avoid spending money on purchasing fastening units.

Cover made of steel corners and textolite

The next covering option for a well is a structure created using textolite. This is a laminated plastic consisting of fabric and a binder.

It is processed with the same tools as wood. Due to the durability of the material, such a polymer well cover can last a very long time.

To create this well covering, in addition to PCB and steel corners, we will need a number of other materials. These are profile pipes, sealant and concrete. You will also need hinges and handles.

We will take care of the necessary tools in advance.

These include:

  • yardstick;
  • hammer;
  • welding machine;
  • screwdrivers;
  • screws and bolts;
  • Bulgarian.

In order to make polymer covers for wells, you need, as in the previous case, to first measure the top concrete ring. Let's use a measuring tape for this. It will allow you to determine the dimensions of the future structure.

After that, take the metal corners the right size and make cuts at their ends at an angle of 45°. In total, we must create four blanks, which are then joined into a frame by welding.

Advice! In order for the resulting metal cover for the well to be sufficiently reliable, the joints of the frame parts should be welded on both one side and the other.

Having finished welding work, we clean the remaining marks on the parts using a grinder. Next we move on to cutting profile pipes. We carry it out in such a way that the length of the resulting segments is 1 cm less than that of the metal corners.

We insert the resulting elements inside the frame along its perimeter, as well as crosswise. Then we secure them by welding. Next, we process the resulting seams with a grinder.

Now we cut out two sheets of textolite suitable size and fasten them with self-tapping screws. Don’t forget to put insulation between the blanks. To prevent heat loss, we treat the seams with sealant.

After this, we create a base from steel corners and sheet iron on which the metal cover for the well will be installed. To do this, we assemble a frame from corner elements, inside which we install a circle bent from sheet metal.

We place the resulting base on the well and install the formwork. It should be filled with concrete. Two to three days after pouring, you can begin attaching the coating.

This will require metal hinges. We weld or bolt them to the base. To make it easier to open the sash, we attach a handle to it.

This is our instructions for creating metal coating It's not over yet. There remains one more stage, which can be considered additional. This is the decoration of the resulting structure. It can be carried out different ways, from painting to installing flower pots.

Conclusion

The presence of a well cover will prevent dirt and foreign objects from entering the mine. In addition, it will prevent animals and children from accessing the water source, and will also prevent it from freezing in winter period time.

All such coatings are divided into wood, steel, plastic, reinforced concrete and cast iron products. The first two types can be made with your own hands, as described above. Self-created coating will allow you to avoid additional expenses, which can be quite significant, especially if you purchase a cast iron cover for a well.

Source of water in country house or at the dacha there is often a well. But if he is not protected from external factors, then as a result you can get a number of problems with the functioning of this structure. In the old days, a do-it-yourself well cover was made in the form of a very attractive decorative house, made of wood. On the move today different materials, from which this protective element can be made.

Main functions, materials used

It would seem that the main and only task of the lid is to provide protection against debris getting inside the well: leaves, household waste– pollution is carried away by the wind, which is usually very strong in open spaces. But that’s not all, because there are other functions whose implementation allows you to use water all year round without unnecessary difficulties, namely:

  • providing protection from direct sunlight, which is more conducive to the growth of algae at the bottom of the well;
  • insulation of the structure, without which winter time the liquid will instantly freeze, and as a result, not only the owner will suffer, who will lose a source of water, but also pump equipment, too exposed to low temperatures;
  • providing ventilation;
  • protection from small children playing on the site, as well as from birds and animals;
  • decorative function, because the opportunity to complete all the buildings on the site in the same style is often used.

The materials that are used today to make the lid are: metal; still the same tree as in former times; plastic; plywood.

Tip: To enhance thermal insulation properties lids, you can use insulation, for example, polystyrene foam.

Main types of designs:

  • wooden lid;
  • on metal frame using textolite;
  • plastic cover (usually purchased ready-made);
  • based on plywood;
  • reinforced concrete.
Well cover - photo ready-made version made of wood

In addition to differences in material, a do-it-yourself well cover is made taking into account some design features:

  1. Round or square design.
  2. Removable lids and hinged elements.

Wooden cover

One of the significant advantages is the simplicity of the device. The material is quite light and easy to install. However, this option will last 5 years at best, but this is subject to proper processing paint and varnish materials. Most suitable tree: alder, oak, linden, birch, and the recommended size of the main board: 20x150 mm (thickness, width), in addition, 40x40 mm bars will be required.

In the production of such a cover, sealant, varnish or stain, fastening elements (nails, bolts) are used; handles are also required for the convenience of opening the well cover.

The length of the boards always corresponds to the dimensions of the well. Next you need to adhere to the following scheme:

  • wood is stuffed on top of two parallel bars, the material is placed as tightly as possible;
  • on the wrong side, to give greater rigidity, it is recommended to nail another block, placing it diagonally;
  • the canvas is processed: sanded, chamfered, if necessary, the shield is made round (using a grinder);
  • all existing gaps in the cover must be sealed with sealant;
  • At the final stage, the structure is varnished.

For ease of use of the lid, one or more handles are attached on top wooden canvas. If necessary it is possible to make a version with a hinged sash. The main work is repeated. Again, if desired, an additional layer of thermal insulation is provided, for which insulation - EPS (extruded polystyrene foam) - is attached to the underside of the lid. Also, a metal sheet can be laid on top of such a structure.

In this case, 2 shields are made for the lid: one large with a pre-prepared hole for the sash and a second, small one, which will act as a sash and is attached to the first one on hinges

Combined option - metal and textolite

Such a self-made well cover requires much more effort, since you will have to use a welding machine, a grinder to process the seams, concrete screed fixed part at the top of the well. The movable structure is made of metal elements– pipes rectangular section, and PCB is also used.

The sequence of actions is as follows:

Now a little more detail about how to make a lid for a well yourself, or rather, its lower part. To do this, in accordance with the dimensions of the finished frame, formwork is prepared around the head of the well. On top wooden structure The lower part of the frame is attached from the corners. A metal strip should be installed along the very edge of the well head, trying to give it a rounded shape. Concrete mixture is poured into the created empty space between the formwork and the tape.

Upon completion of this work and after the resulting structure has completely hardened and settled, you can attach a frame made of profile pipes and textolite. This is done using two loops. WITH outside The handle is secured with bolts. The final stage is the application of enamel to metal parts in two layers.

Reinforced concrete structure

This is the most labor-intensive option available. To implement it from concrete mixture casting a lid for a well with your own hands - step-by-step instruction the work is presented below:

  1. In accordance with the size of the well rings, a hole is dug in the soil 10 cm deep, which determines the thickness of the structure. The bottom is covered with polyethylene. Usually a movable opening flap in the middle is assumed, for which a smaller formwork is built in the central part of the pit.
  2. The first layer of concrete mixture is poured to a height of no more than 5 cm.
  3. Next, the reinforcing mesh is laid.
  4. The solution is poured on top to the edges of the pit.
  5. After waiting a few days (3-4) until the cover has completely hardened, you can install it on the well ring, having first removed the film.
  6. Seams are necessary between the well and reinforced concrete structure seal with cement mortar.
  7. In place of the window, a sash made of metal, wood, or plastic is installed in the concrete cover, depending on preference.
. This device will significantly increase work efficiency.

All of the lid options described have their pros and cons. When choosing a suitable solution, you should take into account your capabilities, the availability of free time for its implementation, the degree of convenience in operating the structure and the length of its service life. The most susceptible to weather conditions is the wooden lid, however, it is this option that looks the most attractive in appearance when properly treated with paints and varnishes.

Another option on how you can make your own cover for a well is shown in the video.
