What style should you use to decorate the hallway in your apartment? Corridor in an apartment: interior design and features of a combination of styles (95 photos) Optimal width of a corridor in an apartment: convenient layout

Arrangement of the hallway is interesting and not an easy task. Few owners of apartments in old buildings can boast large areas. So you have to rack your brains: how to place everything you need in a small area, and even do it in a way that looks stylish. After all, it is this room that creates the first impression of the apartment or house as a whole. Therefore, decorating a hallway is a responsible task: the development of interior design may well set the tone for the design of all other rooms.

Narrow hallway

Correctly decorating a narrow hallway is, to put it mildly, not easy. There are few solutions, but there is still a choice. The first way is to figure out which side can be occupied by furniture. Preferably one on which the doors are located far from each other. Furniture should be placed along this wall.

Use the most furniture for furniture in a narrow hallway long wall- correct solution

The second option is to use two adjacent walls – a short one and a long one – for a wardrobe and a hanger. Also a good option in functional and aesthetic terms.

Place furniture along two opposite walls in narrow room- absolutely wrong: you will have to maneuver between them, constantly bumping into corners. To prevent the second wall from looking empty, you can fix a mirror on it, hang narrow wall hangings on which to place decorative elements or some small items.

There are several traditional design techniques, which allow you to visually expand your boundaries, and new developments in the field of storage systems will help you fit everything you need into a small volume.

Walls, floor, ceiling

To make the room seem larger, the walls should be light, preferably with a slight degree of gloss. For example, there are textured paints or plasters with a slight addition of mother-of-pearl. Glossy ceiling(weakly expressed gloss is more appropriate) - this is usually tension. It will reflect light and what is happening in the room, making it more spacious. In the economy version, plastic panels will give a glossy effect.

If you don’t like gloss at all, you can do without it, but it’s better not to give up light colors. Moreover, most often the colors chosen are warm shades.

It is desirable that it be as general ceiling lighting, and in some areas. For example, near the mirror. Mirrors in general - great way visually enlarge the room, and when properly illuminated, they are also very beautiful.

One of the trends recent years— . Moreover, some of the walls are made smooth - usually painted - and only part is finished with stone. In the photo above you see several techniques at once, thanks to which small hallway looks more spacious. Firstly, a carefully designed lighting scheme provides enough light to create a cozy atmosphere. Secondly, mirrored closet doors, reflecting the decor, expand the boundaries of the room. Thirdly, vertical columns made of rough stone make the ceiling appear higher than it actually is. Important role Another choice of furniture - glossy and mirror surfaces do not look “heavy” and do not overload the space. The chest of drawers is chosen to be small in width. It does not interfere with movement, but performs its functions.

Also note that when designing small rooms, the floor is rarely made dark. If this is the case, then everything else - walls, ceilings, furniture - should be very light. Details of a darker color look great on them, preferably the same shade as the floor covering.

Furniture for a narrow hallway

After everything has been decided with the color and texture of the walls, the design of the hallway continues: it’s time to choose furniture. The best option is to order the production of a wardrobe and hangers for the hallway. Furniture will be made to fit the dimensions of your room, designed individual content(hangers, shelves, baskets, etc.) to suit your requirements. But such pleasure costs a lot. More economical option- use of modular furniture. Solid “hallways” - cabinet furniture of certain dimensions - today are increasingly losing out to this new type of configuration. The plant is developing a collection of shelves, cabinets, cabinets, pencil cases, hangers, bedside tables, chests of drawers, benches. All of them are made in the same style and color. From such a “constructor” you can assemble what is most suitable for your option.

Two “assembly” options from one collection of modular furniture for hallways

In general, you can use not only closed systems storage, but also open. True, only if you are ready to support perfect order: everything will be in plain sight. But outerwear will dry in open furniture better.

Sometimes the hallway is so narrow that an open closet door completely blocks it. Then the exit is with sliding doors. They take up almost no space. But in this case, it is better to make a built-in wardrobe: with the same occupied space, its functionality is much higher.

A sliding wardrobe can occupy the entire wall in the hallway or only part of it

Another good thing about this type of furniture is that it can occupy the entire wall and can be combined with a shelving unit or an open part - a chest of drawers, a shoe rack, a hanger, etc. There is also - they allow you to use two adjacent walls, which cabinet or modular furniture usually cannot handle. They are good for linear hallways.

If space allows, you can do it. It differs from a built-in wardrobe in its greater depth - 1-1.2 m is the minimum. But you just can’t imagine how many things are included there, and how convenient it is to use it.

We should also talk about where to store shoes. There are special shoe chests or shoe racks for this purpose. They come in different shapes and can be built into the hallway or stand alone. The shelves in them can be:

In order not to just take up space, a seat is often placed on the top of a free-standing shoe rack. This is both a shoe locker and a bench on which it is convenient to put on your shoes.

There is also an option - a round rotating shoe shelf, divided into sectors. Compact and convenient solution.

Rotating shoe rack - new items in storage systems

If you use at least a few ideas, the design of the hallway will be stylish and comfortable.

Small hallway: layout features

If the hallway area is only 4 sq. m, you can’t put a lot of furniture in it, because most The walls are occupied by doors opening into it, at least two or three of them. Decorating a hallway of a small area is already in the realm of art. You have to use any available wall area, because there is very little of it. And here is the most best way out— order the manufacture of furniture. Since the equipment will be small in size, this will not cost a large amount, but it will be possible to use every centimeter.

First you need to find a place to place the hanger. Take a good look at the room, find an opportunity to put a cabinet or just one, and under it - a shoe rack with a seat.

A wardrobe in the corner is a great way to make full use of the available space.

Hallways with an area of 4 square meters. m is the “property” of small-sized apartments of the Khrushchev type. In them, free space is generally a rarity: even for one person there is not much of it, and there is nothing to say about a family. But in any case, the composition of the furniture greatly depends on your wishes, and also on the layout. There are several recommendations that you may or may not heed.

Arranging a hallway in a private house

If the hallway is spacious, the task is to correctly arrange the desired furniture. Although the best choice is still a wardrobe, there are options in its size and location. The most optimal is the corner one. It allows you to use the space to the maximum, while all things are in their place and at hand.

If desired, you can make a separate hanger for “duty” clothes, in which in the cool season they go out into the yard, and under it there is a shoe rack with a seat and the same “duty” shoes.

Placing the changing area as close to the door as possible is the right decision

Now about where to place the closet or hanger. The answer is simple: as close to the entrance as possible. So that you can immediately remove outer clothing and shoes. For this area it is necessary to provide a floor covering that will be easy to clean and at the same time will not allow debris to spread. Usually at the entrance they place ceramic tiles or something similar, and on top there are mud mats.

Hallway with stairs

If, when planning the house, it was decided not to “inflate” Technical buildings and the hallway turned out to be small, and even though it opens into it, it will be problematic to place everything you need. Especially if the family is athletic and you need to place sports equipment somewhere - skis, skates, roller skates, skateboards, etc. If the design of the staircase allows, the most reasonable option is to arrange a kind of wardrobe under it.

Drawers and just shelves with doors - a lot of things can be placed. Drawer systems separated by mesh dividers are more convenient - everything is in sight and much easier to search
A closet under the stairs is an excellent solution in a small hallway

In some homes, this area is used to store vehicles for large and small children - strollers and bicycles. If bicycles can still be left in a shed or garage, then this is simply impossible to do with a stroller. And often for this “vehicle” the most comfortable spot right under the stairs.

Decorating a hallway in different styles: photos

The hallway can be decorated in any style: classic, Provence, minimalism or hi-tech. The choice is yours. To make it a little easier to understand what suits you best, this section contains photographs of hallways of different styles.

Stylish, beautiful, functional - this is the feeling from this hallway design. adds practicality without compromising design.

Everyone has been familiar with the saying since childhood that “you meet people by their clothes.” This statement is also true regarding the corridor design project. After all, when guests enter the house, the first thing they see is the hallway. It gives a general impression of the owners of the house and the apartment as a whole.

How to arrange a small corridor, how to choose furniture and interior items, what would be better suited for decoration and lighting, all this and much more we'll talk in this article.

So I want the room to be:

  • Fashionable;
  • Ergonomic;
  • Convenient.

It will be no secret that the design of a corridor, especially a small one, is a difficult task even for professionals. How can you cope on your own? In fact, it’s not quite difficult. You just need to adhere to the rules for creating interiors in a small corridor. It is important to choose the right furniture.

Do not clutter the interior small hallway massive cabinets that will block almost half the space. On the contrary, if there is one, then it should be removed and buy a shallow (45 cm) wardrobe, better built-in, with a large mirror on the door, which will visually expand the space. You can also place mezzanines along the ceiling.

Light sources should be arranged under the mezzanines, as well as in other suitable places:

  • On shelves;
  • On the floor;
  • On the ceiling.

Additional light, as well as various stained glass windows and mirror surfaces, will help to visually enlarge the corridor. The room will seem much larger and lighter. For the same purpose, you can hang a mirror opposite the mirrored cabinet doors.

You need to buy lightweight furniture for your apartment, small size, light. If possible, you can combine some of its elements, you can combine a pouffe and a shoe rack.

Hallway 2x4: finishing features

It is best to replace ordinary doors in a room where there are few square meters with sliding doors made of glass - this will make the hallway brighter and more spacious. In general, it is worth thinking about organizing light in a narrow and small corridor. The more it is, the more airy the room will seem.

Finishing work must be carried out using light-colored building materials and decor. The bright corridor will be visually filled with the missing width.

You just need to take into account that this room is one of those that gets dirty quickly, so the walls and floors should be finished with resistant materials.

They must be resistant to:

  • moisture;
  • Dust;
  • Mud.

You also need to buy a supply of material in case of repair or replacement. You can choose a dark material for the floor, but you shouldn’t do this with the ceiling surface. The whiter the ceiling, the better.

You also need to remember that the floor, walls and ceiling should not differ significantly in tone; their design should be in the same tone.

For finishing ceiling surface of a small corridor, decorators use one trick: they move the covering a little outside the hallway, visually adding centimeters to the space. Based on this, it is clear that a design project for the hallway and corridor of a fashionable apartment is not so unattainable. Everything is possible if you wish!

Design in a narrow corridor 2 m long

A narrow corridor where it is impossible for two people walking opposite each other to pass each other - this situation is familiar to many! How to increase space, even visually, but better yet practically? There are several subtleties. You can expand the door frame, removing the doors between the corridor and adjacent rooms. Of course, this does not apply to doors to the shower and bathroom. door frame can be expanded by putting it in the form arched design.

Such a corridor will become:

  • More spacious;
  • Lighter;
  • More harmonious.

If you follow the path of visual expansion narrow corridor, it’s worth remembering about mirrors. It's better to place large mirrors, the options may be different, one of them mirror wall from floor to ceiling.

Mirrors arranged opposite each other give the visual effect of a vast space.

Another way is to divide a narrow corridor into zones. It should be remembered that the lighter the vertical surfaces and furniture, the more spacious the long room will be.

Comfortable hallway in a 1-room apartment: selection and arrangement of furniture

If it is possible to do without spacious wardrobes in a 1-room hallway, then it is better to do so.

Various narrow shelves and hangers are quite capable of acting as a replacement and will help free up the missing space. If this is not possible, if the family is large and there are a lot of shoes and clothes, then ideal solution there will be a wardrobe, preferably built-in or without a back wall, maybe shallow, narrow, the height of which is up to the ceiling, always with a mirror facade.

IN long hallway A 1-room apartment, divided into two zones, at the entrance and in the hall area, is placed various items furniture, which may differ from each other in the way they are used.

But they are required:

  • Light;
  • Functional;
  • Practical.

For example, at the entrance you can place a pouf, which can also serve as a shoe rack, and also arrange a hanger with hooks for clothes. In another area you can place a wardrobe, a shelf for a telephone, a key holder, etc. If the corridor is not only long, narrow, but also corner, then you can arrange it in corner wardrobe, radius design.

The brighter the room, the more spacious it will look, therefore, to organize light, it is better to choose Spotlights with warm glow bulbs, placing them not only on the ceiling surface, but also along the lower part of the mezzanine and arched structure, on the floor and on the walls.

Competent design of the hallway 6 sq. m: photos and examples

The large area of the corridor makes it possible to create a functional, aesthetic and ergonomic design. For the comfort of household members, a 6 m2 corridor should be equipped with a wardrobe. But the traditional standard system will not work. Perfect option, furniture made to order is still at the stage when renovation is underway. The wardrobe should be high, but not wide. It can take up space from floor to ceiling.

This will make it possible to perform spacious wardrobe, divided into sections for:

  • Coats, jackets, raincoats;
  • Boot, shoe, shoes;
  • Umbrellas;
  • Accessories.

As in a hallway of any other size, it is advisable to install a mirror in a 6 m2 corridor. Although the façade of a wardrobe can serve as a mirror surface. By combining several functions in one piece of furniture at once, usable area, it is possible to place a pouf, sofa and wall shelf for keys and decorative elements.

Hallway 1 sq. m: lighting and decoration

Corridor, with dimensions 1 square meter, it’s difficult to arrange, but nothing is impossible. It doesn’t matter what size the hallway is, you should equip it with sufficiently comfortable lighting.

For small spaces, it is strictly prohibited to install:

  • Large chandeliers;
  • Pendant lamps;
  • Volumetric lamps.

Modern hallway design 2x2 (video)

The ideal solution is spotlights, sconces near the mirror or LEDs. All the design is like this small corridor should be made from lightweight structures, light-textured building materials.

The corridor is the first thing guests see when entering the apartment. His appearance completely determines the impression of the home. But the hallway in high-rise buildings rarely has much space. The owners have to balance on the line between style and functionality, which is why the design of a narrow corridor turns into a real art, which is not accessible to everyone.

Style for a narrow corridor

Owners of small spaces live at the right time. There were years when fashion required cluttering even relatively small rooms with an abundance of details and elements. It's good that this is already a thing of the past. Modern technologies renovations together with laconic fashion can create a perfect space from a narrow corridor, in no way inferior to a wide room in terms of functionality.

Corridor design in three-room apartment

The first stage of designing a corridor will be choosing its style. The following options exist:

  • Minimalism. The simplest solution for small space. It is preferable to use light colors and lighting as close to natural as possible. The installation of one single accent is typical.
  • Classic. Thanks to the classic design style, the effect of aristocracy and high cost is achieved. Natural materials are used in the interior: light wood, marble. The laconic decor only emphasizes the overall restraint.
  • Provence. French style It is distinguished by its romance and soft, pastel colors. The effect is achieved through floral motifs, artificial aging of surfaces, ruffles and graceful shapes.
  • Country. Thanks to simple natural materials, rustic decor and an abundance of warm colors create the most comfortable atmosphere, conducive to home relaxation.
  • . Expensive, but ideal for a narrow corridor style. Due to curly legs The furniture creates an effect of lightness and airiness, which is so lacking in a small space.

Surface finishing

Properly selected finishing is half of a successful design. The specifics of the room do not require moisture- or heat-resistant materials; owners are able to make a choice based only on their own preferences.

Under no circumstances should you line the walls in such a corridor with plasterboard. The frame method used for this will steal hidden inches of width, thus doing a disservice.

For corridor walls use:

  • liquid wallpaper;
  • glass wallpaper;
  • textured wallpaper;
  • Venetian plaster;
  • vinyl wallpapers.

As for the pattern, it is strictly forbidden to use either straight lines or a large symmetrical pattern in a narrow elongated corridor. Both options will only stretch and compress the room even more. But chaotic abstraction is what this place needs.

It is best to either simply paint the ceiling white or use a modern one tension option. The design of a multi-level ceiling is completely inappropriate here.

Traditionally, ceramic tiles are laid on the floor of the corridor: they require minimal maintenance, are not afraid of erasing and will not be a “death sentence” for dishes like in the kitchen.

Color solution

With the help of color games you can decorate absolutely any room. A narrow corridor is not an exception, but one of the main confirmations of this rule. The best choice when the design is created long corridor, there will be light cool colors.

Can and should be combined different colors: wide walls are finished with a warm shade, and narrow walls are finished with a cold light shade - this approach will “shorten” the room.

Without words, it is clear that an excess of dark tones will make the corridor gloomy and will negatively affect the perception of space. However, the appearance of a hospital room due to the use of too light colors in the interior of a narrow corridor is also not practical: the walls and furniture will often become dirty and require additional care. In this case, the feeling of comfort will suffer significantly.

Psychologists say that one of the best color solutions for the corridor will be green. Whether or not to believe their opinion is up to the owners of the living space.

Basic elements of the corridor

In conditions of limited space, it is important to determine the main elements needed for the corridor. Every detail must be functional. The following are installed in the corridor:

  • closet;
  • whatnot;
  • cabinets;
  • hanger;
  • ottomans or other seating areas;
  • dresser
  • entrance and interior doors.

Tiles on the floor of the corridor of a two-room apartment

There is no point in cluttering up most of the corridor. It is ideal to use hidden elements built into one of the walls. If its facade is covered, then the space almost doubles.

Mezzanine – a good option for seasonal storage of things or shoes. The best headset for a narrow corridor they are made to order.

A shoe rack will help keep the hallway tidy, especially in apartments where more than one person lives. Diversity available materials allows you to fit this detail into any interior.

A hanger is an essential attribute of a hallway. And although in a small corridor it is often combined with a closet, there are many successful options for its use, for example, its corner design.

Parquet floor

Undeservedly little attention is paid to doors when decorating a hallway. But in small room they can occupy up to 30% of the wall space. The basic rule is that doors should always be installed if they are used. As with other surfaces, it is preferable not to use dark colors. Will expand the space well. If possible, interior doors can be removed, leaving arches in their place.

Furniture design

The most popular piece of furniture for a hallway in Khrushchev is a wardrobe. This is due to the irregular shape of the room. Instead of cluttering the space with many interior details, a single wardrobe with modular system. Such furniture element made to order, which allows you to get the most efficient storage space and create an object that perfectly matches the design of the room.

The cabinet facade can be finished with mirror panels, small photos, prints or even completely covered with wallpaper in the style of the opposite wall, which allows you to hide the presence of furniture as such.

There are the following rules to successfully fit a wardrobe into the interior of a long corridor in an apartment:

  • depth furniture wall should not exceed 50 centimeters;
  • storage systems are located along a wide wall, the narrower one is left empty. Thanks to this, it is possible to slightly correct the shape of the room to a square one;
  • furniture should not start immediately near the door. By cutting off space on one side, owners inexperienced in planning not only create obstacles for the normal use of the cabinet, but also visually narrow the already small hallway.

Lighting

The approach of installing only one central light source in a room has long been outdated. Lighting will help highlight decorative elements, visually correct the irregular shape of the room and expand its area.

If the interior uses mirrors or mirror surfaces, emphasize them with the help of light - perfect solution. Near them, opposite or under them, they are often used. The reflection of light can have a stunning effect and will make the hallway brighter.

But don't get carried away. Placing light sources along the entire wall can play a cruel joke: instead of expanding the space, it will attract too much attention and narrow the already long corridor.

Since it is missing here natural light, one of the most successful solutions would be to use halogen lamps, the color rendition of which will make the lighting as close as possible to daylight. Professionals recommend spotlights that can be mounted directly into pieces of furniture.

Corridor decor

No matter how paradoxical it may sound, a narrow corridor, precisely thanks to its shape, can become a real art object in in capable hands. Decor can be done even on a small budget.

Corridor in panel house

Options decorative design the hallway can become:

  • Paintings are the most common option. Doesn't the long, narrow space resemble a gallery in a museum? You can place along the wall both the art of famous artists and the extraordinary works of modern creators - it all depends only on the style of the room and the preferences of the owners. Instead of purchased paintings, photos from the family archive look atmospheric. Can be used additional lighting under each frame.
  • The self-leveling floor can become not only a good option decoration, but also successfully fulfill the role of decor. This kind flooring can be made in a variety of colors.
  • Using stone to decorate individual areas of the room will help further refine the interior of a narrow corridor in an apartment.
  • with spot lighting - a classic option for a hallway. Such an object is able to emphasize the individuality of the owners: some will place art objects here, some books, and some their own awards.

Techniques and ideas for increasing space

If all the above tips have been used and visual space is still missing, an additional effect will help create:

The corridor in standard-plan apartments is the most difficult to create a thoughtful and functional design room, in most apartments there is a long narrow and poorly lit corridor. Often something that simply somehow fits in dimensions is placed here, but the design is not thought through at all. And this approach cannot be considered correct: the corridor is the first room that we see, that our guests see. But in terms of functionality it can be very utility room, combining several functions of other rooms, but to create a thoughtful design you will need time and knowledge of some simple rules.

Some problems and their solutions

Interior of a narrow corridor in an apartment with a standard layout involves solving several basic problems:

  • expanding the space of a narrow corridor. This task is well performed by mirrors, light-colored walls and thoughtful lighting;
  • functionality– most of the corridors are practically not used. This can be changed with built-in wardrobes, hanging shelves, shoe stands, umbrellas;
  • With creating an intermediate zone between rooms, which will not contrast with their design. Therefore, for the design of the corridor, it is preferable to use neutral tones or design in a style that is the same for the entire apartment;
  • also expands the space getting rid of unnecessary doors. The door to the kitchen or living room (living room) is rarely used; they can be replaced with an arch;
  • required element an ordinary corridor no windows - good lighting.

When planning your design, you should avoid some features inherent in many corridors in modern apartments:

  • dark colors;
  • massive lamps;
  • a large wallpaper pattern overloaded with details;
  • clutter with furniture;
  • bulky Decoration Materials(stone, tiles with a rich texture) will make the interior of the corridor in a small apartment especially unsuccessful;
  • a sharp contrast with the design of the rest of the apartment. For example: a minimalist hallway design while the rest of the rooms are decorated in classic style or the opposite combination;
  • a passage significantly limited by furniture in one of the areas.

All of the above visually reduces the space, gives the corridor a constantly untidy appearance and will irritate the apartment residents themselves, creating a negative mood from the threshold.

Wall decoration and materials

The color scheme largely determines the overall impression of the room, so it needs to be given special attention. In no case should you choose dark, saturated colors as the main color, no matter how practical they may be. It is better to use light, pastel colors to decorate the walls. It can be beige, blue or any other pleasant color that expands the space.

Wear-resistant materials are optimal for walls, since the corridor is constantly exposed to dirt, dust and moisture brought from the street. Washable wallpaper or paint perform well in this capacity (it is easier to update it from time to time). Inserts from textured material on the background smooth walls, they can be used to decorate a doorway or the space around lamps. But if stone or tiles are used for these purposes under any other coating with a rich texture, it is important not to overdo it and not to clutter up the space too much.

There are several details that can expand the space or raise the ceiling height:

  • horizontal pattern on wallpaper;
  • diagonal pattern;
  • lamps whose light is directed upward;
  • Photo wallpaper will help change the configuration of the space.

Floor colors and finishes

First of all, the floor in the hallway should be functional; tiles are good for this purpose; carpet or carpet is extremely bad; they will quickly lose their appearance and will require replacement, no matter how often you clean. The tiles are easy to clean, but have significant drawback- This cold material. Therefore, you often have to look for a compromise - decorating the area immediately at the entrance with tiles, the rest of the space is covered with carpet or other soft and warm material.

It is better to decorate the floor in the corridor in a light tone, although this is not too practical solution. A light floor further expands the space; for this you can sacrifice the need for frequent cleaning. A compromise could be a stepwise color scheme: dark colored floor, beige or pastel tone walls and white ceiling. The combination also looks advantageous parallel lines on the floor and ceiling, symmetrical or asymmetrical.

Inexpensive and practical option for flooring - linoleum. But you should choose a pattern well; it can be a plain linoleum or a geometric pattern that expands the space.

Moisture-sensitive materials are not suitable for the floor in the corridor: laminate, parquet board and others. Defects may appear on the popular laminate flooring after the first serious rain if water from shoes and umbrellas is not removed in time.

Ceiling

For inexpensive options A simple ceiling with non-massive or built-in lamps is suitable for design. If financial capabilities allow, the plasterboard ceiling can be anything, even complex shape, but don’t overload the space with details. In the design of a corridor, complex and massive ceiling shapes rarely look good, and for lighting it is better to use built-in lamps.

The tone of the ceiling should be lighter than the walls, no matter what base color is chosen for the design.

Furniture

It should also combine functionality and match the overall design of the corridor. Built-in furniture, made to order to fit the dimensions of a specific room, will allow you to use the entire space of the room without losing precious meters. The interior of a long corridor in an apartment should include the necessary minimum furnishings: a hanger or wardrobe, a dressing table or bedside table for keys, an umbrella stand. There shouldn’t be any unnecessary things in the corridor, they only eat up space. But you can try to transfer some of the functions of the pantry to the corridor by installing a wardrobe with mirrors or just a neutral surface along the entire length.

If possible, the furniture in the corridor should not be overloaded with details and decorative elements (as in any room, but for the corridor, fulfilling this requirement is especially important). Another interesting option– partial combination of a corridor and a library if the apartment does not allow a separate room to be equipped for it. This ennobles the corridor and makes it functional.

Photo gallery

Below you will find many examples of what the interior of a corridor in an apartment might look like: the photos will help you imagine what your corridor will be like after renovation. The overall concept depends on the configuration of the corridor; a long corridor has different design requirements than a square shaped corridor.

Our gallery contains examples of minimalism in the design of a corridor and the use of natural stone inserts, mirrors and light colors to expand the space. The functionality of the room is provided by a wardrobe. In this case, the corridor seems wider than it is, due to the fact that the space does not “eat up” the furniture; there is no closed furniture in the corridor. The general tone of the design is calm shades brown, the interior is functional enough so that the corridor is primarily used for its intended purpose.

IN two-room apartment the interior of the corridor should be as functional as possible, therefore it is optimal to place a wardrobe, which will take on part of the functions of the pantry, in standard apartments often not provided for. In this example, the entrance to the kitchen is successfully designed; two rooms form a single space by removing the door.

Decorating a hallway in a small apartment will make you think about priorities. On the one hand, the space cannot be cluttered, on the other, there is no extra space in the apartment; you want to make the most of every meter. But for small apartments, the best solution to the problem is minimalism; a design in a similar style creates an upbeat, light mood right from the threshold.

The design of a corridor is no less an art than the design of a bedroom or any other living room. The hallway forms the general impression of the apartment when guests come to you, and your own mood when you return from work. Therefore, it is worth spending the necessary time planning it or contacting a professional designer.

For a narrow corridor, it is difficult to find a good solution to place a full-fledged storage system in it or visually correct its dimensions. These important rules will help you arrange a narrow corridor and make it more convenient.

1. When planning a corridor, do not forget about its main purpose - it exists primarily for passage, and not for storing things. Two people can easily walk through a passage width of 110 cm and a side width of 90 cm. Therefore, you should not overdo it and try to fill every free meter, planning to fill a narrow corridor so as not to block the passages and not violate fire safety standards.

2. It is better to use for wall decoration light shades, which visually make the space freer. Large drawing, dark or bright color covering the entire area of the walls in a narrow corridor is not the best solution; they can add crampedness to an already narrow corridor. White color or calm pastel shades will act as a neutral background that will make a narrow corridor more spacious.

3. A narrow long corridor requires zoning, otherwise it gives the impression of a compartment car. For zoning, it is enough, for example, to conditionally divide it into parts and use different (including contrasting) colors or materials in wall decoration. There is also an option to divide a narrow long corridor using an opening or a small arch.

4. If left empty walls in a narrow corridor, which means that its dimensions will involuntarily receive too much attention to itself. To distract attention from the size of the narrow corridor, the walls need to be decorated. An exhibition of photographs, drawings, paintings arranged linearly or in groups will help decorate the walls in a narrow corridor.

For such a home exhibition, you can use special directional lighting: in addition to the decorative gallery effect, additional light will expand the narrow corridor and make it more spacious.

5. The color of the design will help correct the proportions of a narrow long corridor and make it visually more square end walls or doors at the ends of the corridor. It is better to make one of them or both at the same time an accent color by using a darker, more saturated color for them.

6. Another classic technique that will make a narrow corridor visually wider is the use of mirrors on one of the walls. However, this method will work effectively if the opposite wall in the corridor is decorated in light colors. Which mirrors to choose here - framed or solid mirror canvases - is largely a matter of taste.

7. What storage systems should I choose for a narrow corridor if it is unsafe to block the passage? Spacious, massive wardrobes obviously won’t fit here without compromising free passage. For a narrow corridor it is better to choose more compact options with a width of no more than 40 cm, or place narrow chests of drawers or shallow shelves along the walls.

For a very narrow corridor, in which you cannot do without storage space, you can use several shoe cabinets arranged in a row. Despite their name, you can store not only shoes in them, but their compact size and shallow depth compared to other pieces of furniture will help you fit even in a very narrow corridor.

8. A serious problem that owners of a narrow corridor may encounter are interior doors that open into the corridor and eat up even more of the already cramped space. Door leaf open door blocks the corridor so that it is difficult for even one person to find a convenient passage. If it is impossible to redirect the doors, then it is better to replace regular doors with sliding ones.
