DIY wooden bed for a child. We take care of the rest of the younger generation by making a children's bed with our own hands from wood. Advantages of hand-made children's furniture

Is there not enough space in the children's room for separate cots? Assemble a children's wooden bunk bed with your own hands. We have prepared design options for you, accompanied them with diagrams and drawings, and will show you the algorithm for making such a bed with your own hands, illustrating with photo and video materials.

A bunk bed for children or teenagers can also be made of metal, but not everyone will have a neat welded structure, and the appearance of such sleeping places is not very childish. Therefore, we will consider making beds from wood and lumber, since these are inexpensive and easy-to-work materials, warm, beautiful and homely.

Bed frame materials

The list of wood materials from which a bed can be made is quite long. Let's highlight the most common ones.

1. Array. Expensive material and quite difficult to prepare and manufacture if you do not have experience working with it. Experience is important here. Although products made from solid wood are the most beautiful and durable, they still don’t use a children’s bed for very long - children grow up and begin to need other sleeping places.

2. Lumber - edged or planed boards, timber - the most common and easy-to-work materials, provided that you are confident in proper drying, otherwise load-bearing structure can "lead".

3. MDF - wood fiber board. The formaldehyde emission of the material is at the same level as that of ordinary wood. When drilling, it generates dust without forming chips. Laminated MDF looks very attractive. An uncoated slab requires additional finishing, such as varnishing. You can order individual elements of the bed from a furniture shop or sawing shop: everything will be carefully cut out and the edges will be glued on.

4. Chipboard - particle board. Formaldehyde emissions are increased without a sealed coating, excluding class E1 slabs. Easy to saw, but does not hold screws well. Suitable for unloaded parts, such as drawers mounted under the bottom of the bed. Backrests can be made from laminated chipboard (laminated chipboard), decorative panels— the film coating prevents formaldehyde from evaporating, but it is important that the ends of the slabs are covered with film.

5. Furniture board - a board glued together from individual blocks of natural wood. Beautiful, durable, even allows you to carve, but requires skill in operation, as it has internal stresses that must be taken into account.

When purchasing fittings, you should give preference to steel hardware. Aluminum ones are much less durable and rigid.

Methods for connecting wooden knots

When making a bed you may need various connections horizontally, vertically, forming corners. This can be done in various ways. We present some of them for your reference.

1 - half-tree connection; 2 - “claw” connection

1 - complete cutting; 2—cutting is not complete; 3 - steel corner

1 - connection with rectangular keys; 2 - connection with dovetail keys; 3 - connection to the main tenon

Design options (drawings and decor)

Bunk beds can have different designs and be decorated in a variety of ways. So, the upper tier can be located exactly above the lower one, offset, leaving space for a cabinet, or perpendicular to it. The staircase may consist of drawers. Another option is steps, which are hinged lids on drawers. The bed frame can also be supplemented drawers located under the lower mattress. To do this you will need guides - runners. Sometimes something else is added to the bed: a table, shelves, a pencil case or sports equipment.

Below are drawings of some beds with basic dimensions.

And now a few design ideas that can inspire you to create an original one. bunk bed. Please note how some models use absolutely “waste” materials - slabs, branches, trunks, driftwood.

Method for making a bunk bed

Some of the most inexpensive materials- boards and beams made of pine. It is from these that we will make a two-story bed.

Material calculation

When making a bed, you need to keep in mind that not only a child can sit on the lower bed, so the distance to the bottom of the upper bed should not be less than 85 cm. The size of sleeping places in the case of purchased mattresses is determined by their width and length. If you make your own mattresses from two layers of foam rubber in a thick fabric cover, then the dimensions are taken based on personal preferences.

The figure below shows the individual elements of the bed, and the table shows the purpose, dimensions and number of pieces.

1 — vertical racks(legs); 2 — external linings for the racks; 3 - boards of the supporting frame; 4 - upper and lower headboard strips; 5 — central headboard bar; 6 — side guards; 7 — staircase railing; 8 - steps of the stairs

Qty Size, mm Name
4 38x76x1730 Vertical racks
4 38x76x1730 Blanks for external linings for vertical posts
4 38x140x2030 Bed support frame boards
4 32x44x1850 Longitudinal mattress support bars (not shown in the picture)

1 20x90x1510 Stair railing
3 20x64x482 Stair steps
2 20x90x1800 Fence railings, cut to the right size during installation

Assembly units

A bed is a piece of furniture consisting of several assembly units, which are then assembled into a single unit. Identical parts can be cut by holding them together with a vice or clamp, so they will turn out absolutely identical. Before assembly, you need to make sure that everything wooden parts cleaned, smooth and free of burrs. It is better to work with a special wood sander or grinder.

1. Headboard and footboard

These are two almost mirror-like elements. The difference is that the fence rails are built into the footboard as shown in the pictures below.

Headboard and footboard

Installation order: 1 - dowel 8 mm; 2 - the stand and backrest slats are drilled simultaneously; 3 - this part is attached after assembling all other parts of the headboard

2. Elements of the supporting frame

To assemble two supporting frames, you will need four prepared boards - the longitudinal components of the frame. To ensure the reliability of the structure, the longitudinal strip must be glued to the board and additionally screwed with screws to the middle of the thickness of the board. Between the bars glued to the longitudinal support bar of the mattress, transverse slats will be laid - the base for the mattress.

Design and dimensions of the supporting frame board

3. Details of stairs and railings

The railing of the fence is simply a processed board, the railing of the stairs is a board with a cut for mounting on the frame. Places for fastening the steps must be marked in advance, and make sure that the screws for fixing them do not fall on the frame screws.

1 — cutouts 38 mm; 2 — places of fastening of steps; 3 — stair steps, 3 pcs.; 4 - fence

4. Frame assembly

The footboard and headboard are connected at the bottom to the boards of the supporting frame using screws. After this, the transverse slats and mattress holders are laid, and the outermost ones are filed in the corners for tight installation. There is no need to secure them. The second tier is assembled in the same way.

5. Assembling stairs and railings

The stairs and railing are simply fixed to the frame with screws. If desired, the fence can be made on the side of the wall - for the lower and upper beds. Then you will need four more planks.

Now the wood can be painted and varnished, mattresses can be laid - and the bed is ready!

In conclusion, we suggest watching a video about making a bunk crib for real princesses.

Making furniture with your own hands is not as difficult as it might seem at first glance.

A homemade children's bed will cost much less than a ready-made one from a store.

Any person with minimal knowledge and skills can collect even enough complex design, if guided detailed description upcoming works.

For starters, you can try making a baby bed for your child. Moreover, its device is not complicated.

Figure 1. The design of the bed includes spacious drawers for linen and small sides.

Experienced parents are well aware of the fact that the right crib for a baby is the key not only to his calm and comfortable sleep, but also to his harmonious development. As a rule, children sleep much more time than adults. And if the dimensions of your apartment are small, then such furniture can serve not only as a place to relax, but also replace a playpen.

You can make a bed with your own hands in just a few days. In this design, you can provide for all the nuances that your child needs. What the bed should look like approximately is shown in Figure 1. The diagram will help you assemble a cradle for a child quickly and efficiently.

Design calculations and materials

To make truly high-quality children's furniture with your own hands, you need to take into account several mandatory points:

  1. Materials for assembly must be used exclusively environmentally friendly. Solid wood or plywood is best. You should not take MDF and chipboard. The products used for sizing can cause allergies in the baby.
  2. Be sure to provide for the presence of protective sides, which should be equipped with any children's furniture. They will prevent the child from falling when he tosses and turns in his sleep.
  3. The dimensions of a child's bed should be no less than 150×60 cm, but no more than 180×70 cm. A child will quickly outgrow a smaller structure, but he will be uncomfortable with one that is too large.
  4. At the bottom of the bed you need to provide drawers in which you can store bed linen, diapers, nappies and other accessories, necessary for the child. This way you can save money usable area in the apartment.

You can buy a lattice base ready-made or make do with a sheet of plywood.

These conditions are not always met by manufacturers of children's furniture, so choosing a finished product in a store is not easy. In addition, if you assemble the bed yourself, you can significantly save your family budget. Since the most significant expense item will be the purchase of an orthopedic mattress.

It makes more sense to purchase it in advance and, based on the existing dimensions, calculate the dimensions of the future cradle. In addition, you can buy a lattice plastic base for the bed. It is inexpensive, but you can get by with a sheet of regular plywood. As long as the child’s weight is insignificant and the base of the furniture under him will not spring, special attention may not be paid to maintaining his flexibility.

In addition to the above items, you will need the following materials:

  • furniture board (it is advisable to choose non-resinous wood, for example linden) measuring 200x60x2.8 cm - 2 sheets;
  • plywood sheet;
  • aluminum mounting angles;
  • self-tapping screws of different lengths and diameters;
  • wheels for drawers (d = 4.5 cm).

When everything you need has been purchased, you can begin making the bed.

Making a bed

To assemble the parts, you need furniture ties and a special drill.

On the furniture board, use a simple lead pencil to mark the required sizes. If there are holes in the sides of the bed, they can be drawn out using available objects, for example, by circling a bouillon cup or wine glass of a suitable diameter around the edge.

You can order cutting of furniture panels and plywood when purchasing them, if you already have ready-made dimensions and patterns for the shape of the blanks. This way you can avoid dusty and dirty work in the apartment.

A jigsaw will help you cut the workpiece quickly and accurately, but if you don’t have one, you can get by with a simple hacksaw. In order for the wood fibers to lift less, the cut points must be sealed with masking paper tape. Thanks to this simple technique, there will be much less garbage and sawdust.

At this stage, all wooden parts must be thoroughly sanded and sanded so that an accidental splinter cannot damage the baby’s skin.

If you seal the cut area with paper tape, the fibers will be less likely to pick up.

If you do not have ready-made mounting corners, they can be cut from ordinary aluminum profile. The size of the element depends on the planned dimensions of the furniture. The length of the corner should be equal to length side headboard. Make holes in the fasteners for self-tapping screws. It is best to use a grinder. With its help, the holes for fasteners will be neater, and the fastening itself will be more reliable.

Using the corners of the side of the bed, they are attached to their inside to the mattress frame (or the sheet of plywood that replaces it). On each side the structure is tightened with 6-8 self-tapping screws.

After the pieces are fastened on one side, the bed must be carefully turned on its side and the walls and bottom secured on the other side. Be sure to check that all elements are positioned correctly relative to each other. Avoid distortions and displacement of the workpieces, otherwise the entire bed will turn out to be very unstable and unreliable.

The walls are secured to each other with furniture ties. To make holes for them, you can use special drill. With its help, the work is done much faster and easier.

Headboard product

After the furniture frame is completely assembled, you need to make a headboard. You can do without this design detail, but its presence will help avoid the following problems:

The head of the bed can be any shape.

  1. Childhood injuries. During sleep, a child often tosses and turns and raises his head above the pillow. If the side of the bed is low enough (less than 10 cm in height), then it may accidentally hit it. And this does not contribute to a restful sleep for either the baby or his parents.
  2. Throwing bedding out of the bed. Children often throw pillows and blankets on the floor. For them, this is a game, and parents have to not only lift things, but also change the bed linen.
  3. Lack of psychological comfort. If the head of the bed is low, the child feels unprotected. This can lead to sleep disturbances.

Therefore, it is wiser to make a headboard. To do this you will need another furniture panel. A headboard can not only serve as protection for furniture, but also decorate it. Carved backs always look beautiful and neat, adding a folkloric touch to the entire interior. The bed will look more organic if the headboard is repeated with the same detail at the feet of the product, only in a smaller size.

Bed legs are screwed from below long screws.

Windows in the backs can serve not only a decorative function. Thanks to this solution, the headboard can be attached to the bed frame so that the screw heads are not visible.

All parts are carefully ground and polished. Particular attention should be paid to cutouts and slits in the backs, because a child can stick his hand into them and inadvertently get hurt. It is most reasonable to carry out this work using grinding machine or similar attachment for a drill. This way you can achieve a perfectly smooth surface.

The finished backs are fixed to the body with long self-tapping screws. If you want to do hidden fastenings from the headboard slots, then drill them from the bottom up. The holes are made carefully so as not to damage the workpiece. The place for the tie will have to be made manually, because the window is unlikely to allow drilling a hole with a drill. But if you use fairly soft wood to make the bed, then there should be no problems.

Parents always try to surround their children from the first days with only the best, environmentally friendly and safe things. When arranging a child's room, it is worth paying special attention to the resting place.

The bed in the nursery should not only be beautiful and comfortable, but also as safe as possible. It is not recommended to use materials that release toxins and harmful substances. Ideal option will be the installation of the bed from natural massif . But, unfortunately, such products in furniture stores are quite expensive. Therefore, an alternative to purchasing finished product, is self-production sleeping place.

Making a children's bed out of it is not so difficult. The main thing is to know the sequence of all the work being carried out, select consumables and tools, and stock up on free time.

A children's bed is a place where your baby will sleep, relax, and watch TV. Most children love to play, read and even draw on the bed. But how can you be sure that the child’s bed is truly safe, high-quality and comfortable?

You can only be sure of this if you do it yourself. If you want to do something original and unusual, look interesting options children's beds on the Internet. After all, with your own hands you can make not just standard types of structures, but also beds in the form of cars, fairytale castles, carriages, buses.

But keep in mind, to make such a bed you need to know the basics of carpentry and be able to work with wood. For such exclusive products you will need special machine, band saw, milling machine, jigsaw and other power tools. If you do not know how to work with wood, and you do not have sufficient experience in this area, it is better to start with a simpler model. An excellent option would be a bed with a footboard and headboard, located on 4 legs. If you equip such a bed with drawers, you will have a place to store bedding or children's toys.

Advice: if children's room small sizes, then it is better to build a piece of furniture that will serve as a playpen during the day, and as a spacious sleeping place at night.

Benefits of DIY

To the benefits self-made with your own hands you should include:

The ideal children's bed should:

  • be made from safe and natural materials;
  • be durable and reliable;
  • have an orthopedic effect;
  • be done without sharp corners and hazardous elements;
  • match the height and weight of the child;
  • differ in functionality.

Drawing

Before making a children's bed, it is worth considering its design, dimensions, design features. All this must be included in the drawing in order to avoid mistakes in the process of manufacturing a piece of furniture. The drawing must indicate everything down to the smallest detail.: places of fastening of elements, exact dimensions of each individual part.

Reference: standard sizes The sleeping area for a child is 120 cm by 60 cm.

Tools

After drawing up the drawing, you need to purchase materials for making furniture and tools. Regarding materials, then it is better to give preference to a solid array. To make your own baby bed you will need:

From tools you will need to prepare:

  • drill;
  • electric jigsaw;
  • grinding machine.

How to make a wooden bed?

Before you begin the process of manufacturing parts, you need to prepare the room. If you are making furniture in a living room, pre-cover the floor and furniture items film. Since during the work there will be a lot of dust from wood shavings.

Important: in order for the furniture to be truly reliable and durable, it is necessary to use special groove-to-groove carpentry joints during its assembly. The dimensions of the groove are selected individually based on the thickness of the timber, board or slats. Such products will withstand mechanical stress well.

Any children's bed should consist of the following elements:

  • frame;
  • sidewalls;
  • slats;
  • backrest;
  • legs

The frame should be made from well-planed wood. Slats can be purchased at finished form in a furniture store, or make it yourself from birch or pine. Placed on the base of the lamellas at a distance of 5 cm from each other. Sidewalls on a child's bed are required for safety reasons. That is, if your baby twists and turns in his sleep, then their presence will prevent him from falling out of bed while sleeping.

The manufacture of a children's bed is carried out in the following sequence:

Important: During assembly of the product, all screws must be screwed deeply into the product. Then they can be puttied or closed with special plastic plugs.

Finishing

After manufacturing and assembling the crib, all cracks and joints must be treated with wood putty. Next, the product is carefully sanded and polished, and wiped off dust with a brush.

To extend the life of a children's bed, it must be varnished. And if you want to change it color scheme, before applying varnish, paint the product with stain.

To give a girl’s bed a decorative look, you can make carvings, apply decoupage, or use painting techniques. To highlight the design of the room, you can paint the product in an interesting color scheme.

Conclusion

In conclusion, it is worth noting that with imagination and minimal skills, you can make an original and exclusive bed for your child for any age, from a cradle to a bed for teenagers. It doesn’t matter what kind of furniture you are going to make, the main thing is to remember that it will be intended for your child. Therefore, this task should be taken with full responsibility.

Making a crib is a responsible task on which the health of the child depends. Safety of design, functionality and environmental friendliness of materials are the three pillars of any modern crib, no matter what price segment it is in.

The author proposes to make a classic model of a crib from unpainted wood with the ability to adjust the height of the mattress. In addition, you will learn how to make a children's mattress with your own hands and how to choose the right filling.

To make a baby crib with your own hands you will need:

Materials:
- glued furniture board or non-waterproof plywood for making a frame with a thickness of 8 - 15 mm;
- a block 35 x 35 or 40 x 40 mm for making a frame;
- slats with a thickness of 15 - 20 mm for the manufacture of sheathing;
- wood glue;
- natural linseed or quick-drying furniture oil for wood processing;
- furniture screws, self-tapping screws;
- furniture dowels 8 mm;
- furniture bolts and nuts for assembling frame elements;
- dense furniture foam rubber of high rigidity;
- padding polyester for mattresses and soft bumpers;
- fabric for making a mattress cover, zipper;
- fabric for making soft bumpers.

Tools:
- jigsaw or hand circular saw;
- miter saw;
- manual milling cutter for making grooves;
- clamps;
- sander;
- drill;
- screwdriver;
- spanner, screwdriver;
- sewing machine, iron, scissors;
- sharp knife for cutting foam rubber;
- construction tape, square, ruler;
- marker.

Manufacturing process
Step one: making side shields
The author made the side elements of the frame from furniture board and wooden blocks. Furniture board is absolutely natural material, which is wood sheet made by gluing together boards of different widths.

Even when it comes to making children's furniture, the furniture board can be replaced with plywood. The choice of plywood in this case must be taken responsibly, since some types can be toxic.

You will need first or second grade plywood marked FK or FBA. Both types are harmless and recommended for making children's furniture. Remember that such plywood is not moisture resistant and requires additional coating.

Prepare two pieces of furniture board or plywood for the side walls of the crib. Mark and cut out a recess at the base for the legs. Use a drill and jigsaw for this.

Also prepare pieces of timber for making the frame of the panels. They are sawn off at an angle of 135 degrees and fixed to the shield using glue and furniture dowels. Use beech dowels with a diameter of 8 mm.

Step two: making lattice sides
The sides of the crib are made of natural wood. You will need thin slats and bars with a cross section of 35 x 35 or 40 x 40 mm.
Prepare horizontal guides. Pre-sand the wood and round the corners. Mark the grooves using a template.

The author cut out the grooves manual router. You can also use it to cut tenons on the sheathing. To do this, assemble the sheathing parts and temporarily fasten them together. Mark and process the workpieces on 4 sides as shown in the photo.
Assemble the sides using glue.

Step three: assembling the perimeter of the crib
Connect the side elements of the frame and the side. To do this, mark and drill through holes for bolts in the sidewalls. To fix the bolts, the author uses furniture barrel nuts with a hole under flat screwdriver. The holes for the nuts are located on the sides. Mark the nut into the hole and tighten the bolt so that it fits into the nut hole. While screwing in the bolt, hold the nut with a screwdriver.

Step four: making the crib frame
Assemble the bed frame on dowels. Use wood glue. The author uses bars as lathing. You can also purchase ready-made slats with fasteners. They create a spring base and at the same time have amazing strength. The slats will significantly extend the life of the mattress and allow it to breathe. The most unsuitable base for a mattress is a solid panel flooring.

Step five: assembling the crib frame
To install the frame, place it on bottom trim a couple of bars as shown in the photo. Secure the frame from below with clamps. Drill holes in the sides for the bolts. The drill must also pass through the plane of the external frame trim.
Place the bolts into the resulting holes and tighten with nuts from the inside. Now the temporary bars can be removed.

The author also provided for installing the base of the crib in the second - upper position. This is very convenient while the child is small and cannot get up on his own. In this position, it is easier for mom to get him out of the crib without bending down to the very base.

Remove the base. You will need 4 small pieces of wood. Drill through holes for the bolt and install the bars on the same fasteners as the base before. Attach stops made of thin boards or veneer to the base frame in the center.

Step six: making the mattress
The crib mattress is made of furniture foam rubber. Please note that furniture foam rubber has completely different hardness according to its marking. One might assume that a child needs a soft mattress, but here the situation is just the opposite. After all, to form correct posture, children need a fairly rigid sleeping place.

You will need two pieces of foam rubber according to the size of the mattress. Thus, the thickness of the mattress will be 10 cm. For the top layer, choose foam rubber with a hardness above average. Under no circumstances should you buy memory foam, as in rare cases it can cause suffocation for newborns. For the bottom layer, if desired, you can use medium-hard foam.

Glue two layers of foam rubber together with non-flammable glue, which is usually used by furniture makers. Wrap the resulting foam blank in a layer of padding polyester and place it in a fabric cover. The author connected the layers of foam rubber with strong thread.

A fabric cover for a children's mattress usually has a zipper. To sew it, use only natural fabric- most often cotton, linen, and in lately- bamboo.

Choose durable fabrics with a density of at least 180 g per 1 square meter. m., for example teak or jacquard weave fabrics.

Children grow up quickly, and furniture is quite expensive. In a regular crib, a child can sleep for three, maximum four years. Will have to buy again soon expensive bed, meeting safety and comfort standards. The bed should be as comfortable and functional as possible. In fact, a do-it-yourself bed for a child is made “on time”, you can do it :)

To make a baby crib with your own hands, you do not need any professional skills, and the process will take a maximum of 3-4 days. Drawings and photos for manufacturing are provided on the Internet. From them it is clear: the process of making a crib is simple and exciting. The main thing is to use only quality materials and carefully think through the entire process from start to finish. As a result, both the child and the baby himself will be happy. In this case, instructions are provided for making a crib for a five-year-old child. Of course, he will be able to sleep in it until he is seven years old. But if the baby has a large build, the parameters of the blanks can be changed upward.

On video: review of a crib. Important points, constructive solutions, useful tricks.

Advantages of a do-it-yourself crib

Furniture stores have a huge variety of crib models for different ages. You can see cribs made of wood, chipboard, fiberboard and plastic. We provide exclusive models made of artificial and natural rattan, photos of which can be seen in catalogs. But the first factor in choosing a crib for a child should be the material from which the piece of furniture is made.

The crib must be made exclusively of solid wood. It can provide the required strength and durability. We pay attention to the treatment of corners and the safety of all surfaces. If necessary, we clean the shields over the entire surface.

The only drawback wooden furniture, sold in most stores - this is an “exorbitant” cost. Good model such a crib will cost about 25 thousand rubles, and not everyone considers such costs appropriate, given that the bed will last the child a maximum of 4 years.

A DIY children's bed will cost parents a maximum of 17 thousand. This is taking into account that the highest quality and environmentally friendly materials will be used. clean materials. Designing and making a crib yourself has the following advantages over buying a finished product in a furniture store:

  • you have the opportunity to design a model that will fit perfectly into the interior of the room and will have the necessary parameters, the height of the sides and the size of the drawers;
  • confidence in the quality of the piece of furniture. If your child jumps on the bed, you won’t worry that the bottom will accidentally break right under him;
  • enjoyment of the process of creating a crib. The baby will even be able to help dad in this important process.

Materials and tools

Before you purchase necessary materials and tools, you should carefully consider the entire process of creating a piece of furniture. Consider whether you are truly ready to complete this process. It is better to do all the work outside the house, as it will be quite difficult to get rid of dust and sawdust. If there is no way to retire in separate room, you should cover the entire upholstered furniture and remove the carpet from the floor.

You should find detailed drawings of a crib on the Internet or magazines with step by step photos. But if you have experience in carpentry and have previously encountered furniture design, you can do without them. The main thing is to make drawings accurate to the centimeter.

Then we start purchasing materials. We will need:

  • furniture panels made of wood;
  • aluminum corners;
  • self-tapping screws of different calibers;
  • wheels for drawers;
  • a lattice base for the crib, which can easily be replaced with a sheet of regular plywood of good quality.

The tools you will need are a drill, a jigsaw and a grinder. You should also get a piece of sandpaper to sand corners and cuts.

All materials can be easily purchased at hardware store. You need to buy another mattress; for a child it is better to choose a good, high-quality orthopedic mattress.

High-quality mattresses are available on the Internet at reasonable prices; their photos and characteristics will allow you to familiarize yourself with the products in detail. Even with this purchase, the cost of the bed will remain more acceptable than when buying a finished product in a store.

To ensure that the dimensions of the mattress and crib match, it is better to first buy a mattress, and only after that proceed to drawings of the crib.

Instructions for making a crib with your own hands

Once you have decided on the sizes and appearance beds for a child, look through photos of popular models on the Internet and find the necessary drawings, you can start making a royal bed for your baby.

Instructions for making a crib are as follows:

  • We mark all the parts on wooden boards. It is better to use a regular lead pencil, which, if necessary, can be easily washed off with a sponge. detergent. Don’t forget to immediately mark the sides and the higher headboard: otherwise it will have to be installed additionally in the future;
  • Use a jigsaw to cut out all the details. Here we carefully monitor the straight cut line. We seal the cut edges with paper tape;
  • if you decide to draw complex shapes on the side of the crib and its headboard, you can use improvised means as a form. For example - a plate, glass or bottle;
  • in accordance with the length of the sides, we cut out aluminum corners and drill 4-5 holes in them for self-tapping screws;
  • We screw the corners to the bottom of the sides so that the base of the mattress rests on them. At the same time, they will increase the strength of the structure;
  • to connect all parts of the crib, it is better to lay it on its side;
  • we process decorative holes (if any) with sandpaper; it is better to do the same with sharp corners;
  • if the shields are made with high quality, their surface will be smooth and will not require additional processing. But for beauty, the crib can be opened with primer and varnish. Although one impregnation of a pleasant shade will be enough;
  • To fasten parts together, it is better to use special ties instead of ordinary self-tapping screws. This is both more reliable and more convenient;
  • We assemble the drawers. The best option– two large drawers so that you can put large toys and bedding in them;
  • if desired, you can make low legs for the crib, and you should not forget about metal corners for them;
  • We lay the mattress on the base and lay down the bed linen. The baby crib is ready with your own hands.
    By the way, you can order cutting of materials at a hardware store, having previously provided all the dimensions of the parts.
