I vacation where I want: how to build an off-road trailer-dacha with your own hands, and how much it costs. DIY mobile home: design photos, step-by-step work process DIY camper trailer drawings

Good day everyone. On the agenda is a very relevant example of how, in the absence of experience and the presence of desire, you can create almost anything. Full DIY dacha trailer- this is completely feasible simple design, providing a certain level of comfort and delivering a lot of positive emotions during its construction. Like many other mobile homes, the category of cottages on wheels itself can be divided into many subgroups, of which there are already enough on our website. These can be full-fledged, of different sizes, or, as in our example, a camper trailer.

Not long ago a user social network Reddit, some Rufi0h published detailed photo a report on the process of constructing a mobile holiday home. The guy had virtually no experience in building “apartments” of this type, but he had willpower and a colossal desire to realize the idea. He did not want to go to local sales sites and therefore decided to do everything himself, except, of course, the basic basis, that is, the trailer. was purchased for a small fee. For almost two months, through constant calculations and fittings, he designed free time

mobile home. Now we will try to describe each stage separately so that anyone can do the same. One more note. If you have absolutely no experience in calculations, working with wood and its processing, then you can always ask some questions on the forum “«: Artisan

Do-it-yourself dacha trailer - easy!

It all started with the purchase of a trailer. Then, according to the existing dimensions, a floor frame was created. Parallel beams of small height are excellent for laying insulating material such as glass wool in them. The side walls and floor were cut from large sheets

plywood, taking into account the dimensions of the trailer itself. The rounded edges provide an aerodynamic look and reduce overall wind resistance while riding.

He wasn't sure how to make the butt angles correctly, and at first he just started adding bars as he saw them.

The next step was to cut out the doorway into the plywood sheet. Making a hole required sizes he also sawed the so-called box for it.

After this, another door was made in the opposite wall. This is convenient, since he himself always wakes up earlier than his companion and, in order not to wake her up in vain, he made an additional exit for himself.

The next step was laying electrical cables and installing insulating materials into the formed walls. If he had already encountered the second one before, then he turned to the forum members for advice on how to install the light.

He needed electricity for the lampshades integrated above the doors outside and inside. They are powered by a conventional battery mounted on a platform in front of the trailer. Not entirely practical, but this is still the first experience :)

Meanwhile, the do-it-yourself dacha trailer slowly began to take on its own appearance. The beams fastened the right and left parts together, and thinner and more flexible plywood was attached to them from the inside.

The photo above shows a guy making a ventilation window at the top of his “homemade” mobile home.

The doors were made from pieces that were previously cut out. They attach to regular door hinges, available in almost any store.

Glass wool was laid in the gaps between the beams, secured with electrical tape to the same beams. There was no possibility of nailing or screwing, since thin plywood was used on the inside.

This is what the kitchenette looks like unpainted.

The door frame was made of bent wood beams. It was also insulated.

As finishing material Aluminum sheets were used for the exterior.

Looks quite attractive, doesn't it? But that is not all!

One more not an easy task was the securing of the longest aluminum sheet, spanning the length of the trailer from below and up to the kitchen compartment. Since everything was fixed in the front, inserting the sheet there was not so easy.

Absence practical experience made itself felt when it came to the curved folding door for the kitchen. As you can see, he didn’t quite calculate the angle of inclination and one of the composite beams “punished” him for this.

Replacing the broken part with a better one reliable design and having painted the kitchen, it was time to complete the two-month labor-intensive process.

Instead of elevators and lifting mechanisms he resorted to the good old grandfather's method of securing the hinged door - ordinary sticks. Whether they were subsequently replaced with more sophisticated holders or not is not specified.

And here are pictures from his first foray into the park with his comfortable miniature masterpiece.

Let us recall that DIY dacha trailer was built by the author for the first time and before that he had no practical experience in constructing mobile houses. We can only say that the author is great and look forward to new products! Let your first experience not be your last.

With this, our recording has come to an end and I want to believe that you have the strength and desire to do something similar on your own. Thanks for reading the post!

Making a mobile home with your own hands is not a very difficult task for any craftsman. The design will be improved as construction progresses and because of this, production times may be delayed. To prevent such a situation, it is necessary to think through the interior design in advance and get rid of inappropriate elements. This approach is important when converting small vehicles when assembling a motorhome, for example from an old trailer.

A mobile home is a type of transport that is both housing and a means of transportation. This type of housing gained its popularity at the beginning of the last century.

Motorhome structure

By standard, a mobile home must accommodate eight people. Each resident has their own sleeping area, there is also small kitchen. Other amenities and equipment may vary depending on the specific model, but in most cases there are also:

More expensive models have a bathroom consisting of (often replacing a chair, which gives several additional meters of free space), a washbasin and a shower. Sometimes mobile homes are equipped with showers.

Note! In a motorhome, the driver and passenger seats are movable, as a result of which they become an addition to the living space when parked. The tail is often equipped with a separate room with U-shaped furniture.

Story

Mass production of mobile homes began in the last century, although some historians believe there were earlier home-built equivalents. They were small vans equipped for living people (mainly cattle breeders).

The first mobile home mounted on a conventional automobile chassis was introduced in 1938 by Jennings.

Types of mobile homes

There are several classifications of motorhomes. So, according to the design features:

Depending on their purpose, they are divided into:

  • those used as long-term/permanent housing;
  • those used for travel.

In the first case, more comfortable conditions take place, while frequently moving structures are extremely rarely divided into the actual living area and the cabin.

Categories

Let's look at each of the categories in detail.

C-class

Small-sized houses intended for short trips. Usually made on the basis of SUVs, so at night the cabin can be converted into a double bed (if desired).

Teardrop camper - cottage on a trailer

B-class

The only difference between it and the C-class is the berth - it is stationary and located at the rear of the vehicle. Very popular among young couples (at least in America).

A-class

Such houses, which look like a regular bus, are the most comfortable and, therefore, the most expensive. They are built on the basis of trucks, so from the point of view transport classification they are categorized as "C".

They are distinguished by a large windshield, a fixed driver's seat and retractable partitions that form different zones and separate sleeping places. Moreover, such structures are autonomous, equipped with a generator, have gas and a large supply of water.

Several additional categories can be distinguished.

About the name

The term “motorhome” (another name is “camper”) often refers to a car caravan.

Note! Campers are called B- and C-class trailers, while motorhomes are exclusively A-class models.

It is also worth noting that in some countries, all motorhomes without exception are called vinebago.

Turning a car into a motorhome will require a lot of effort and time, as well as the appropriate equipment.

Note! First, you should study this issue from a legal point of view. Different registration organizations view home-built motorhomes differently, and it would be a shame if the vehicle ends up being illegal.

Stage 1. First, the number of residents is determined and, based on this, vehicle and internal “filling”. A detailed design plan is drawn up - this can be done on paper, but it is better to use a computer.

Stage 2. Next, the car body is cleared. If dents are identified, they are removed and the peeling paint is cleaned off. Several windows (if there were none) are installed in the building for lighting and fresh air.

Stage 3. Cut out ventilation holes and valves for gas supply. All areas of bare metal are coated with a primer to protect against corrosion and aggressive environmental influences.

Stage 4. The house is finished with thermal insulation material.

Note! To do this you need to use exclusively quality materials, saving is highly undesirable. In addition, the material from which the hardware (metal fasteners) are made must be similar to the metal of the car body - this is for additional protection against rust.

Stage 5. Gets off inner surface motorhomes.

  • carpet covering;
  • moisture-resistant plywood.

IN side walls thick panels with padded strips are inserted for furniture installation. It is typical that first it is better to level the ceiling, and only after that move on to the walls.

Stage 6. After installing the furniture, you should take care of the water supply. To do this, you can place several cans of water under the sink and install small pumps. In addition, you can install large tanks - for example, for taking a shower.

Note! Don't forget about wastewater– for this purpose another tank is installed. An ordinary garden structure can be used as a toilet.

Step 7. For cooking and heating, as noted earlier, it is better to use propane gas. The cylinder is located in the lower part of the body, as well as an additional hole for ventilation. This can be explained quite simply: propane weighs more than air, so in the event of a leak, such safety measures will prevent dire consequences.

Stage 8. All that remains is to take care of the energy supply. The best option– a powerful rechargeable battery equipped with an external charging outlet.

Mobile home made from an old trailer

Our trailer-trailer costs about 500,000 rubles. The amount is impressive, so if you have the opportunity to purchase an old car trailer, you can build a small motorhome with your own hands. For this you will need:

  • trailer (necessarily with a strong chassis);
  • wooden elements (slats, bars, carriage planks);
  • plywood;
  • metal profile (for roofing);
  • fittings made in the same style;
  • a set of appropriate tools.

Manufacturing technology

Such a motorhome will be a trailer with a rear part. By the way, it is better to make the bed the entire width of the structure - this way it will connect side walls and thereby increase rigidity. The bay window will be manufactured later and equipped with a custom block. The door is installed of the Dutch type - it will consist of two halves.

Stage 1. The trailer is disassembled, the chassis is thoroughly cleaned and coated anti-corrosion paint. A frame is constructed from pine boards, and supports are cut out in appropriate places.

Stage 2. A frame is constructed from slats with a cross-section of 2x2 cm; an oak slat with a cross-section of 3x3 cm is additionally installed in each corner. A horizontal slat is tied on top of the frame.

Note! For thermal insulation, you can lay the lining in two layers.

Stage 3. The floor is covered with plywood sheets. Poplar beams are used for the roof - they are screwed along the frame in increments of 30 cm. Plywood is fixed on the beams, on top of which a moisture-resistant material and a metal profile of a small cross-section are laid.

Stage 4. There will be only one window in the building (if you do not count the door) - at the top of the back wall. It is advisable to make the window in the form of a bay window.

Door lock in similar designs located below, but you can put one more - additional - on top. In addition, the door is equipped with a small casement window.

Stage 5. It is recommended to equip a table that extends from under the bed (as was once the case on Great Britain trains). For this purpose, special lockers are formed under the bed. By the way, the lower space can also be used as a sleeping place.

In addition, shelves and a removable ladder are built from wood.

Letter of the law

No additional permit is required if the dimensions of the mobile home do not exceed:

  • 400 cm in height;
  • 255 cm wide;
  • 100 cm in length (excluding the part that does not protrude beyond the trailer).

If the dimensions are larger, then the motorhome is transported according to special rules (flashing lights, escort, etc.). Of course, this only applies to caravans.

Organizing a mobile home business

At the construction of motorhomes it is possible to organize own business. There are four options for developing such a business.

Option #1. Production of houses for sale for summer holidays or living in the country. Serious material costs

this will not be required, since the houses will have a simplified design - for example, without insulation. Option #2., and everything new can be very expensive. The number of motorhomes in this case increases as the customer base grows.

Option #3.

Make mobile eateries or shops.

Option number 4.

He's the most interesting. It consists of creating a car park and its further use as a hotel. The main thing here is to divide the trailers into budget, premium and middle class.

Fleetwood RV Bounder Fleetwood RV Discovery This real palace on wheels is based on MAN. The length of the motorhome is almost 9.5 meters, which requires the driver to have absolute skills to drive vehicles of this class. Everything here is subordinated to the main thing - maximum passenger comfort.

Interior

  • made in the style of finishing expensive yachts - the elegant narrow doors of numerous cabinets suspended from the ceiling contrast with the high-quality leather trim of the sofas and armchairs of the living area. Every lamp, every, even the smallest, interior detail (curtains, for example) fills the space with luxury and splendor.
  • Characteristics:
  • the most luxurious mobile home;

spacious bathroom; average price: RUB 23,602,000 The base of the camper was created on the basis of a Fiat Ducato truck, as a result of which the vehicle has good handling and stability on the road - the camper's windage does not exceed the permissible values for this chassis. The spacious and bright mobile home is designed for four people. Light penetrates not only through the side windows (all have curtain systems, including the windshield), but also through the transparent hatch located in the front of the camper. Expensive and sophisticated interior decoration emphasizes

Interior

  • inner space
  • , and swivel driver and passenger seats make the living room simply huge due to integration with the cabin.
  • better comfort;

The motorhome is based on the Mercedes Sprinter 316 CDI and has all the driving capabilities of this reliable and trouble-free vehicle. And if from the outside the integrated camper does not stand out in any way and can easily get lost in city traffic, then inside it is a real compact house for accommodation of 4 people. One drop-down bed is located above the driver's seat, and two others are located in the rear of the house, behind the toilet and shower. It is noteworthy that these two beds can be transformed into one huge one for maximum comfort.

Interior

  • unique body protection;
  • large luggage compartment;
  • , and swivel driver and passenger seats make the living room simply huge due to integration with the cabin.
  • average price: 9,176,188 rub.

Making a camper yourself is not too much difficult task For experienced craftsman. But the timing of such construction can be very delayed due to the constant improvement of the design. To avoid getting into such a situation, you should think through the interior in advance, abandoning obviously unnecessary elements. This is especially important when equipping small cars, for example, when creating a motor home from a GAZelle with your own hands.

A mobile home has undeniable advantages - comfort, coziness and mobility. Moscow is a noisy city that you sometimes want to leave. Trailer owners do not have to look for a place to stay overnight, and travel becomes very economical. If you haven’t had the opportunity to use this original housing before, you should first familiarize yourself with their classification.

Types of motorhomes and their classification

Choosing the type of future mobile housing, you can be guided by its division by:

  • in appearance - there are trailers, vans, or mobile homes combined with a car;
  • class – there are three classes of comfort for motorhomes;
  • trailer type - there are trailer trailers, hybrid trailers and fifth-wheel trailers.

If with a trailed view mobile home everything is clear, the difference between a van and a combined motorhome is not immediately visible. In the first option, the living space is located in the van of the car and is separated from the driver's seat.

Such option will do when traveling together, when no one stays in the “house” during the move. Thanks to this design, it is possible to fit more functional furniture using a blank front wall.

Motorhomes converted from GAZelles or minibuses are precisely combined.

The comfort class can be called conditional. Thus, Class A motorhomes include spacious trailers made on the chassis of large trucks. Outwardly, they resemble a bus, can have folding structures, and inside, in terms of functionality, they do not differ from a small apartment.

Please note that the driver must have a category “C” license to drive this vehicle.

There is much less space in it, but it is still convenient to travel in them. What is important is that you can drive such a car with a category B license if the weight of the car or total weight vehicle with trailer does not exceed 3.5 tons.

Class "C" indicates the most basic motorhomes. This could be a small trailer or a minibus converted into a camper. There is no separate sleeping place - its function is performed by folding sofas or armchairs. But by equipping such a mini camper with a trunk-tent, a folding canopy and a set of camping furniture, you can get a comfortable stay at a minimum cost.

Such construction trailers are also called hybrid to distinguish them from simple trailers. Separately, it should be noted fivesville trailers, the shape of which is designed for use in conjunction with pickup trucks. Thanks to this, it is possible to reduce the length of the entire caravan, because part of the trailer hangs over the car body.

Mistakes when building mobile homes with your own hands

Prices for mobile homes are noticeably high. It is not surprising that skilled family heads want to save money and do everything themselves. It’s important to be wise and learn from other people’s mistakes:

  • you shouldn’t make everything from scrap materials - you’ll have to live in the house for at least a week and you want to spend your vacation in comfort;
  • serious modifications to the body, heating system, wiring will be required - you cannot do without the skills of an auto mechanic;
  • If you still manage to fit in a shower and toilet, do not forget about the flush tank - pour it out dirty water on asphalt or lawn is extremely unethical;
  • It’s better not to forget to make a connector for connecting 220V at campsites, and a converter for 12V from the car battery.

Making your own trailer

If difficulties do not frighten you, and the desire for action is unstoppable, you can try your hand at building a house. And whether to remake a GAZelle or build a trailer from scratch - the choice is strictly individual!

DIY mobile home from GAZelle

For work you will need a grinder, welding machine, hand saw woodworking and a lot of patience. The gradual modernization of the car looks like this:

  1. The seats are taken out of the cabin, the old trim is removed. All metal parts are treated with a special solution that prevents rust. The walls and ceiling are insulated with foamed polyethylene, and sheets of plywood are laid on the floor. All wiring runs under the floor and wall cladding; this should be thought out in advance.
  2. The frame for the furniture is welded right in the body. If the car cannot be leveled, you can use a pipe as a level, with its ends resting on the bottom edge window openings. After rough welding, the frame is removed and everything is welded, cleaned and brought inside again.
  3. Window openings are covered with carpet. Can also be installed covered with carpet ceiling panels. After completing the interior trim, you can attach the slats under the mezzanine and mount the furniture frames.
  4. Can be done for the front seats swivel mechanism. To do this, you will need a front hub, for example, from a VAZ, and part of a rotary strut. The scheme is quite simple.
  5. The final stage is installing furniture on the frame, connecting lighting, installing a pump for the kitchen washstand, covering the mezzanines and minor interior improvements. For cooking, you can put a small gas stove for one burner.
  6. Instead of welding the furniture frame, you can use ready-made headsets, reinforcing them from the inside with corners and additional screws. The kitchen also needs to be attached to everything - the floor, the sofa, the wall. This is done to protect the furniture from becoming loose while driving on bumpy roads.

We should not forget that such a modification of the car requires registration with the REO. To do this, you need to write an application and receive a resolution from the technical department of the traffic police and a protocol from the authorized organization.

Stylish plywood trailer house

If your car has a tow bar, it would be a sin not to take advantage of the situation and not make a nice “drop” trailer for overnight stays outside the city. For this:

  1. The side walls of the future van are cut and attached to the base. All holes for doors and windows, as well as to lighten the frame, must be cut in advance, so it is better to think through the drawing carefully.
  2. From furniture board The shelves are assembled and installed on the base. These same shelves will serve as the front and rear walls of the van.
  3. The shape of the van curves over the shelves on both sides plywood sheet, a power frame made of timber is fixed on top. One side is made liftable, providing access to the kitchen.
  4. The top hatch and skylight are cut out. The entire frame is insulated and the wiring is installed.
  5. Everything is covered with veneer sheets on top. Once the door and window openings are cut out, you can begin exterior painting and varnishing.
  6. Doors, roof hatch and supply and exhaust ventilation. After securing all the fittings, side lights and wheel fenders, you can safely set off on your journey!

And the video shows a detailed assembly of the motorhome with the installation of solar panels:

Is it difficult to build a motor home on the basis of a regular car trailer? What materials can this trailer-house-dacha be built from? What are its minimum dimensions? Which interior layout will allow you to make the most efficient use of the internal space? Let's try to find answers to this list of questions.

Goals

Small country house- probably the most widespread hobby in the post-Soviet space over the past half century. The area of cities is growing every year, and areas are naturally moving away from the center of populated areas. Distances are sometimes measured in tens of kilometers; The most comfortable way to overcome them is to drive your own car.

At the same time, transform small area instead of permanent residence Not all summer residents are ready. The maximum that an average city family can decide to do is spend the night on their property once a week. Build for this overnight stay capital house- a dubious idea; sleeping in a car is very uncomfortable...

For summer residents who have basic skills in working with power tools, homemade summer cottage trailers are often the solution.

We have to study one of these structures, getting acquainted with the materials used and design solutions.

Acknowledgment: The photographs used in this article were kindly posted by one of the regulars of the League of Caravaners forum.
The author's work was reduced only to explaining some technical subtleties.

Selection of materials

In most cases, the base on which a compact trailer-dacha-motorhome is built is a single-axle trailer with a maximum load of no more than a ton. Taking into account the weight of household items and a couple of people, our choice is a caravan trailer weighing up to 750 kg.

The weight limitation leaves its mark on the choice of material.

  • We will make the frame of the building from pine beams with a cross-section of 50 mm.
  • The walls are made of 10 mm plywood (moisture-resistant or impregnated to reduce the hygroscopicity of the material and prevent it from rotting); the floor is made of 12 mm. It is also used for construction inside.
  • External cladding is galvanized steel. The sheets are hemmed to the frame bar with self-tapping screws; overlaps are additionally sealed silicone sealant. The outer corners are reinforced with aluminum corners - again sealed with silicone.

  • What to choose as insulation laid between the inner and outer layers of plywood - we will leave it to the reader to decide. Here is a comparative thermal conductivity of popular insulation materials:

A caveat: glass wool will inevitably cake over time.
It is better to use rigid insulation.

Dimensions

A reasonable minimum size of trailer required for our purposes is 2300x1600 mm. Such dimensions will allow you to build a comfortable enough sleeping place for two people inside and leave some space for a table for a washbasin and/or a gas stove.

A two-axle trailer-dacha will provide much more comfort; however, the price of such a trailer will be double or triple. Its dimensions (up to 4.5 meters in length) allow you to build a full-fledged toilet room.

Reasonable minimum height of the structure in general case is 2 meters. The height can be adjusted depending on the size of the owners: it is clear that a person is very tall you don’t want to constantly touch the ceiling with the top of your head.

Construction

So let's get started. How to build a cottage from a trailer with your own hands?

Floor, bottom trim

  1. The sides are completely dismantled. All that remains of the trailer is a flat area. If the horizontal base is sufficiently rigid, floor joists and trim can be attached directly to it; It is better to weld a thin flexible sheet with a frame made of corrugated pipe with a cross-section of 50x25 mm.
  2. Then the lower frame made of timber, laid around the perimeter, is bolted to the base; the side bars are connected by lags in increments of 20 cm (for 12 mm plywood).

As an option, the entire structure can be assembled on a stand and only then pulled to the base of the trailer.

  1. The logs are attached to the frame with a galvanized angle; The block must be soaked twice with hot drying oil.

Tip: instead of drying oil heated in a water bath, you can use cold drying oil.
In this case, after applying each layer, the block is heated with a construction hairdryer.

  1. Insulation is laid between the joists; then the floor is covered with plywood, which is attached with self-tapping screws.

Frame

The instructions for assembling the frame are no different from the construction bottom trim: the block is connected with corners using self-tapping screws. Before or after assembly, the wood is impregnated with drying oil. Do not be afraid that the frame will not be rigid enough: the sheathing will give the structure strength.

Sheathing, insulation

The finished frame begins to be sheathed from the inside. The plywood is attached with self-tapping screws 32 millimeters long in increments of approximately 25 cm. Self-tapping screws are only galvanized: in damp weather, black steel will inevitably decorate the walls with untidy rusty streaks.

Three nuances:

  1. The holes for the screws are pre-drilled and countersunk so that the caps do not catch on clothing. An alternative is to use self-tapping screws with semi-countersunk heads.

  1. Plywood with inside It must be sanded before varnishing and after applying the first layer. Any moisture will increase top layer veneer pile, which will make the surface rough.
    The amount of work will be quite large, so it is better to use a grinder - even the simplest, vibrating one. If there is no electricity where you are building, there is always a way out: renting a diesel generator for a summer house costs from 1,000 rubles per day.
  2. The outer side and ends of plywood also need protective impregnation. And in this case, the cheapest and most practical option is two layers of hot drying oil.
    The insulation is fixed in the grooves formed by the frame and internal lining, after which it is sheathed on the outside with plywood coated on both sides.

The door is assembled similarly to the walls and hung on galvanized hinges; a regular door lock or a pair of bolts is used as a lock - inside and outside.

Final stage - exterior decoration galvanized. It is fixed with self-tapping screws 25 mm long in 10 cm increments along all frame bars; then the corners are closed with a corner. Don't forget about the sealant: it will protect the corners and joints from water leakage.

The photo shows the trim ready for painting.

Window

If you want your miniature home to have light windows- No problem.

  1. The opening is provided at the stage of frame construction. It is surrounded by a bar with a cross-section of the same 50x50 mm.
  2. An alloy corner is used as an external glazing bead, screwed flush with the outer cladding with self-tapping screws. Seat under the corner is pre-coated with sealant.
  3. A piece of plexiglass cut to the size of the opening is placed on the sealant and fixed from the inside with a bead made from the same duralumin corner.

Internal layout

Our choice is a transformable bed-seat and folding table. The transformation mechanism will be made clear by pictures.

Useful little things

  • An alternative to galvanized plywood - external cladding from corrugated sheet. According to a similar scheme, they are often built country houses from block containers.
  • Do-it-yourself repair of a summer house trailer usually comes down to periodic painting of galvanized steel. Old paint removed with washes. In those few cases when the wheels, fenders or suspension of the trailer are damaged, spare parts for the trailer camper are purchased at the nearest auto store.

  • The simplest way to organize ventilation is to provide a pair of closed doors in mosquito net hatches (bottom and top).

Conclusion

Experienced travelers know that it is not always possible to spend the night cheaply and comfortably. Therefore, when traveling long distances and having your own car, it would be a sin not to buy a towbar and hook up a caravan trailer. Essentially, this is a house on wheels - a kind of small room with a kitchen, a toilet... Well, in general, with all the objects of civilization. In such a “mini-hotel” you can not only spend the night comfortably, but even cook food for several people and have lunch there, and most importantly - completely free! And today we will look at how to make a trailer-dacha with your own hands.

Chassis and frame

The main component of any trailer is the frame. It is on this that the entire load from the metal body (the frame of the “house”) falls, and below is the bridge, beam and wheels. By the way, you won’t have any particular difficulties regarding this, because the design of the trailer is not fundamentally different from the car system, with the exception of the engine units. Therefore, when it is made as a chassis system, you can completely “rip out” part of the wheels, springs and other suspension parts from any old car. Any car model can be suitable for such a vehicle, be it a Volga, Moskvich or Zhiguli.

How to make a trailer-dacha with your own hands? Room design

And if the algorithm for designing a caravan trailer is practically no different from a conventional cargo version at the stages of building the chassis system and frame, then difficulties may arise with the body. The fact is that a home-made trailer-dacha should really be comfortable and practical, so even on the drawing you need to develop a plan for the design and location of all the parts. Indicate where the bedroom, kitchen will be located, and if it is a frame with a length of 5 meters or more, you can additionally install a bathroom. However, remember that every new room entails additional expenses, which means the price of the finished trailer will be significant. Moreover, in order to legally drive in such a hitch, you also need to register this vehicle with the traffic police. And this is at least several thousand dollars on top. Therefore, do not overload your trailer with unnecessary devices.

Refurbishment option

The most practical option is a design that has a built-in frame for an awning on the side (remember the legendary Soviet “Skif”). When unfolded, it forms a sort of large tent. This significantly reduces the cost of work and the effort spent on it. This self-made cottage trailer is very functional and at the same time easy to use.

Towbar and illumination

At the final stage, it is worth taking care of how finished design will be attached to the vehicle's tow bar. Also, a homemade trailer-dacha must have a pair of brake lights and turn signals. Consider a location for the license plate in the center or on the side and install a backlight to it, preferably LED. There will definitely be such a trailer-dacha on wheels the best hotel for the traveler.
