DIY work lamp. DIY table lamp: electrical, lighting, construction, design. Use wooden tramples

DIY table lamps are the simplest lighting devices. They are compact in size and light weight, so they can be installed not only on a desktop, but also on a small coffee table or bedside table in the bedroom. Despite the fact that table-type lamps do not play a big role in the interior design of the room, they still give the room a more comfortable and cozy homely atmosphere with their decorativeness and functionality.

Such lighting equipment can easily be made independently at home from a wide variety of available materials and old unnecessary items. For example, many people don’t even realize that there are craftsmen who make unique designer floor lamps, chandeliers, table lamps, other decorative lighting devices from the following items:

  • ordinary glass bottles from wine;
  • glass, metal cans;
  • flower pots;
  • tin cans for beer, cola, and other soft drinks;
  • plastic disposable tableware;
  • nylon threads and wire;
  • thick paper or cardboard;
  • other, at first glance, unnecessary things.

  • wing bolt and nut;
  • long wooden block - 1 pc., short - 2 pcs.;
  • electrical kit: socket, plug, cable and light bulb.

Manufacturing instructions

  1. Initially, you need to make three pieces of timber of any length, but the main condition: one bar must be longer than the other two, and the latter must have the same length.
  2. Holes are drilled at the ends of two short bars at the same distance from the edge. Similar holes need to be made in the long block: one in the center - for the bolt, the second in the upper part - for electrical cable. The distance from the edge of the first hole depends on the intended angle of the lamp.
  3. After preparing the hole for bolted connection short bars parallel to each other need to be pressed against a long bar, the resulting structure is connected with a bolt and a wing nut.
  4. Now you need to thread the electrical cable through the top hole in the long bar and secure the socket. A plug is connected to the second end of the cable to connect the lamp to the mains voltage.
  5. The original table lamp is ready for use.

If desired, you can pre-tint the cartridge and cable with spray paint, let them dry thoroughly, and only then install them in their place. This will make the product more attractive appearance.

DIY table lamp shade

If there is an old table lamp lying somewhere in the household that no one needs, it can be given a second life. To do this, you just need to make an unusual designer lampshade with your own hands, which does not present any difficulties or material costs.

Using a homemade lampshade for a lamp, you can achieve the most optimal fit for the room or working area illumination, for example:

  • the light source will produce a soft diffuse light through thick fabric - this great option for the bedroom, the lamp can be used as a night light;
  • If the lampshade is made from threads, then such a lighting device is suitable for illuminating a work surface.

Required materials and tools:

  • old lamp with lampshade;
  • dense soft fabric, such as satin or chintz;
  • matte paint (color to suit interior solution rooms);
  • glue gun;
  • cardboard stencil of a circle (D=100 mm).

Manufacturing instructions

  1. Initially, you need to cut fabric strips 10 cm wide, cut them into equal squares (approximately 200 such pieces are needed).
  2. Circles are cut out from prepared fabric squares using a stencil.
  3. The old lampshade needs to be painted color scheme interior of the room. The lamp will look more original if the paint is applied in uneven strokes, that is, to give the surface relief.
  4. While the paint is drying, you can start making parts for the lampshade from prepared fabric circles. Each resulting element should look like a badminton shuttlecock or a folded paper bag for sunflower seeds. To give the blanks a similar shape, the center of the circle is coated with glue, then the sides of the circle are compressed in the center.
  5. After the painted lampshade has completely dried, you can begin decorating it with fabric blanks. The parts are smeared with glue and pressed against the surface of the lampshade.

If desired, the edges of the fabric flounces can be lightly sprayed with gold or silver paint from a spray can. This will further embellish the finished product.

Important! Depending on the intensity of luminous flux required from the lamp, decorative elements glued either tightly enough to each other, or more loosely.

Homemade thread light

To create an original table lamp or floor lamp, you can use ordinary thick threads.

Required materials and tools:

  • children's balloon;
  • an old lighting fixture without a lampshade;
  • thick cotton threads (the color is selected to match the interior of the room in which the decorative light is planned to be used);
  • PVA glue and an unnecessary container for it (you can take a plastic disposable plate, cut a container from a plastic bottle, etc.).

Manufacturing instructions

  1. Inflate the balloon and tie the hole tightly to prevent air from escaping.
  2. Pour a large amount of glue into the prepared container.
  3. You can use a whole thread, gradually unwinding it from a spool, or cut it into separate pieces in advance. The goal is to tightly wrap the threads around the entire surface of the ball (it is necessary to leave a small space at the bottom so that the deflated ball can then be removed).
  4. Before wrapping the frame with threads, they must be thoroughly soaked in glue. Each subsequent turn should fit tightly to the previous one. You can completely cover the ball with threads or leave equal gaps after several turns (the intensity of the light flux will depend on this). To make such a lampshade more durable, it is recommended to coat the threads already placed on the ball frame with glue again.
  5. The product must be allowed to dry completely (this may take up to 10 hours).
  6. After the glue has completely dried, the ball can be deflated and removed from the resulting structure.
  7. The exclusive lampshade is ready, it can be placed on the lamp.

If desired, a hand-made table lamp can be additionally decorated with other decorative components, for example, braid, beads, homemade paper butterflies, etc.

Table lamp made of pebbles and wood

Natural materials, for example, pebbles, pieces of wood, are ideal for making a decorative lamp.

Required materials and tools:

  • 5 pieces of wood (knots, fragments of driftwood, etc.);
  • three round or oval stones (marble, sea pebbles, etc.);
  • reed branch;
  • electrical cable with socket;
  • hairpin for table lamps(D=10 mm);
  • 2 nuts (D=10 mm);
  • metal knife;
  • electric drill;
  • set of drills for wood, concrete.

Manufacturing instructions

  1. Preparation consumables. It must be thoroughly washed and dried.
  2. Next from wood materials the most massive, stable piece is selected, which will be used as a stand for a table lamp. A hole is made in it with a drill for a pin, which is pre-cut to required parameters metal knife. The height of the stud should be approximately 5 cm higher than the level of stones and wooden blanks stacked on top of each other.
  3. The pin is inserted into a hole made in a wooden base.
  4. Using different drills in each prepared stone and wooden blank holes are made to fit the diameter of the stud. All made parts are threaded onto a pin already fixed at the base.
  5. At the very end, a reed branch is put on the hairpin (it will cover the thread).
  6. Next, a cartridge is attached to the end of the pin (in this case electrical wire remains outside), the light bulb is screwed in, and a decorated lampshade is installed.

For your information! To secure the cable along the base of the lighting fixture, you can attach a small spring or a piece of thin wire.

This DIY design invention fits perfectly into a rustic, ethnic style, most best option installations - country house.

How to get started

They draw up a step-by-step plan, a sketch of the future device, purchase materials for installing electrical equipment and decor, prepare tools and workplace. All aspects related to safety precautions during work and use of the lamp in everyday life are carefully considered.

Unnecessary and already used things in the household can become a necessary help for the plan. electrical appliance and with their help you can not only save money, but also give them a second life in designer lamps.

Instructions on how to make a lamp with your own hands

Loft style lamps (the most simple designs) are gaining more and more popularity and are well suited to many types of interior. Lighting devices In this style, factory-produced ones cost a lot. But a person who has assembly skills can easily assemble from scratch a 220-volt table lamp with their own hands that is not inferior to them, combining metal and wood.

For the stand, select a board that is suitable in size and at least 5 cm thick. They are processed, trying to preserve the natural texture of the wood - sanded, covered with stain.

To attach the legs, make a hole in the board with a drill (19 mm in diameter) half the thickness and screw the adapter into it. A hole is drilled perpendicularly and an electrical wire is pulled through. On the other side, connect the switch and plug.

To assemble the lamps, purchase copper pipe(12 mm), fittings, socket, lamp, can of copper paint, super glue. Tools used include pipe cutters, pliers, and screwdrivers.

The pipe is cut into pieces - 50,60, 150, 350 mm. A wire is pulled through the longest section and connected to the adapter on the stand. Passing a cord through each section, connect the remaining parts with fittings in the form of the letter “L”. For a more stable structure, the parts are glued.

The cartridge, pre-painted, is disassembled and the insulation is stripped. Connect ground and phase. Screw in a regular 220 V light bulb. In stores there is large selection retro lamps: Edison and LED, suitable in style, but with modern characteristics.

You can assemble a table lamp from LEDs with your own hands. Their use significantly saves energy, and the appearance and nature of the lighting look modern and stylish on the table.

What is a dimmer for?

Loft style welcomes freely hanging light bulbs - both on tables, on walls and even in chandeliers. Depending on the situation, it is appropriate to change their brightness using a dimmer, a device that changes electrical power.

The dimmer changes the interior lighting over a wide range and acts as a switch. There are many types of them on sale. But if desired, every craftsman can try his hand at fine, painstaking work and make a dimmer for a table lamp and other lighting devices with his own hands.

Parts (triac, dynistor, diode, non-polar capacitor, fixed and variable resistors, LED for indicator) can be purchased at any specialized store. Installation diagrams and algorithms are available on the websites.

How to make a bottle base

An interesting option for mounting a lamp is a glass bottle. Holes are drilled at the bottom and in the lid using a drill. Connect to a metal support placed horizontally using nuts and washers. The electrical cord is threaded through the holes and brought to the neck of the bottle, connecting to the cartridge.

The completed lampshade and cartridge are securely fixed at the top of the bottle neck. Glass can be painted or decorated using jute filigree technique.

There is another option. If the neck of the bottle is wide and the cartridge fits into it, then the wire is taken out through it and without the labor-intensive operations of drilling glass.

Frames and their decor

Frames are made from various materials– metal, wood, plastic. For making it yourself metal frame For the lamp, use rigid wire.

Using pliers, bending the wire and strengthening it, create the intended shape. Wrap with cloth, paper, jute. If there is finished frame made of metal, use it. A simple twist changes shape.

A metal mesh reinforced around the frame will give additional impulses for the development of creative thought. The mesh is attached to the frame with plastic clothespins and decorated with three-dimensional elements, for example, plastic fasteners.

Jute or decorative rope is passed through longitudinal and transverse stripes to form a braid, or they are wrapped around the lampshade. If necessary, paint with acrylic paints.

An original and effective way to decorate a lampshade is to use keys from beer cans. You need to accumulate quite a lot of them. A cut is made in each of the keys, then folded in half to hang on the top wire ring. This creates the first row. The two keys of the top row are hooked to the key of the bottom row, etc.

A simple frame is covered with a beautiful fabric that matches the interior, glued with silicone glue. Corrugated decorative paper looks good. Are used plastic bottles and spoons, beads. Horizons open up for lovers of patchwork and decoupage practical application these techniques. The photo shows lamps made by yourself.

In addition to standard lighting using a socket and a bulb, with inside any lampshade attach a light, sticky LED strip with a constant voltage source of 12 V.

What to make a chandelier from and how to hang it

You can use waste and specially purchased materials for the chandelier. It’s easy to make lampshades out of them with your own hands, and if you follow proper connection techniques, all successive steps– safe.

The production of frame lampshades and their decor are discussed above. Let us add that chandeliers made of wood, plastic and cut glass bottles, CDs, and tin cans look very impressive.

The chandelier must be suspended on a separate rod. Tough and flexible hangers, special cables carry out reliable fastening to the ceiling of even the lightest chandelier.

The cartridge is disassembled, the cable is pulled through, a loop is made under the cover and a lock washer is put on to prevent accidental pulling out of the cartridge. They pick it up and screw it in with their own hands into a ready-made LED or Edison lamp socket. Globe lamps with a matte bulb and shank are excellent, creating bright, but not glaring, lighting.

Combining various techniques decor and assembly techniques, understanding electrical engineering, you can create amazing and functional lamps that highlight the style of the interior.

Photos of lamps with your own hands

Hello to all DIY lovers. I think every home has a light source, be it a lamp, chandelier or backlight, which to one degree or another helps in everyday life, but such devices can very rarely boast of originality, since the manufacturer usually does not make a unique product, except for those that are made to order, but such a pleasure will not be cheap. This is why it was decided to make an original table lamp from beech with your own hands, and for anyone who has worked with wood in the slightest degree, assembling such a homemade product will not seem impossible. First you need to decide on the material and tools that will be useful in making this homemade product.

Before reading the article, I suggest watching a video about this homemade product.

To make a table lamp with your own hands you will need:
* Beech boards
* Wood glue
* Reismus
* Manual router
* Grinding machine
* Sawing machine
* Clamps
* Furniture oil
* Drilling machine
* Dimmer
* Wires with plug
* Electric drill
* Threaded bushing for furniture with M12 thread with a pitch of 1.25
* Superglue
* M12 hairpin pitch 1.25
* Rubber tie
* Sandpaper

That's all you need to assemble this homemade table lamp.
Now comes the fun part, the assembly process.
Step one.
First you need to run all the beech boards on a surface planer, this is done so that their thickness is the same.

We do this on all four sides.

Then we saw the wide board into small planks, approximately 5cm wide, which will form the head of the lamp.

Step two.
After the boards are ready, they must also be run on a surface planer and then sawed into small pieces using sawing machine.

The components must be calculated in advance; the cutting angle will depend on their number and the desired size of the lamp itself. For simplicity, we take 8 parts, on each of which it is necessary to make a cut at 45 o on both sides; this is done most easily on a sawing machine.

Step three.
When all 8 blanks are adjusted to size, they can be glued together, wood glue will help us with this. Before gluing, it is necessary to sand the surfaces to be glued to improve the contact patch.

We spread the glue over the entire area of the joint of each part and fasten it with a rubber tie; by the way, it can be easily made from bicycle camera.

We remove excess glue with a rag and leave it to dry for a couple of hours, while the glue dries we make three more of these parts.

Step four.
After all four octagonal blanks have dried, you need to make an angled cut on three of them to create the shape of the lamp. How to do this can be seen more clearly in the photo. You also need to make an octagonal bottom.

Step five.
We glue the four octagons into one piece, and after drying, we grind them on a grinding machine until we obtain a shape similar to a vase.

When grinding, rotate the workpiece as smoothly as possible; the correct shape of the lamp will depend on this.

Step six.
It's time to make a leg for the lamp, with which you can adjust the direction of the light.
We saw off four small beech boards and round the edges on a grinding machine; for this it is best to draw a circle in advance with a compass.

We drill a hole in the center of this circle, do it on both sides and on each of the boards.

Then you need to make three small boards adjacent to both the head of the lamp and the base, which will also be rounded on one side, and to glue them together you will need two small blanks, as in the photo.

Coat the gluing areas with glue and press with a clamp.

Step seven.
To regulate the brightness of the light, you need to make a wheel, which will then be placed on the dimmer. Similar to this wheel, we make six more of these, but to fix the position of the lamp.

We drill a blind hole in the middle and glue a sleeve with an M12 thread in increments of 1.25 onto superglue and screw it in until it stops.

To fix the position, you will also need three M12 studs with a pitch of 1.25, which will pass through the entire lamp fastener.

Step eight.
Now you need to make a shield or the so-called base on which the lamp leg itself will be fixed. Its shape is also round, made using grinding machine.

We grind the surface grinder and glue a circle with a smaller diameter on top of a thin oak plank.

For strong gluing, we will use clamps, or preferably three at once.

While the glue is drying, you can apply the first layer of oil to the head of the lamp.

Step nine.
The glue has dried, the oak circle has stuck, which means we move on to installing the dimmer. We disassemble its body, we will need the interior itself, drill a hole in the oak mug and mark it with reverse side dimensions of the board, after which, using hand router remove excess material to fit the dimmer inside.
