Preparatory work

In this case, it is possible to significantly simplify the process of installing the door on the hinges.

Please note that there is equipment that can be used to create a groove both on the surface of the door leaf and on the door frame. 2. The use of screw-in hinges is also important for beginners. In this case, the grooves on which conventional hinges are attached are replaced with holes. To install such a hinge, you will need two holes in the door frame and one in the door itself. To install the canopy, simply screw it into the previously prepared holes. Please note that the holes must be located in the correct order in relation to each other. Appearance such loops are more attractive than the previous version.

Most often, the loops are cylindrical or have hexagons. The first version of the hinge is simpler to make and easier to weld to the door. To weld the hinges, special plates are used.

How to hang hinges on a door: features of choosing hinges

The hinges are installed in relation to the top and bottom of the door by 20-30 cm. If there is a third hinge, its installation is carried out directly in the center of the door leaf. If you plan to install four hinges, then the total length of the door should be divided into five parts and the installation location of each canopy should be marked.

One part of the hinge is installed on the door leaf, without rods. The second part of the hinge is installed directly on the door frame.

1. Place the hinge on the surface of the door and trace it with a pencil.

2. Using a chisel, remove the hinge installation outline. The depth of the layer being removed should be equal to the thickness of the loop itself.

3. Using an electric drill or screwdriver, secure the hinge using the previously purchased self-tapping screws.

4. When choosing the diameter of the drill, choose an element that is half a centimeter smaller than the screw itself. Thus, it will be possible to increase the reliability of fastening.

6. In these areas you should also remove the top layer using a chisel. Fix the second part of the canopy in these recesses. Make sure the rods are horizontal. Otherwise, it will not be possible to achieve smooth opening of the door.

It is possible to change the order of actions. In some cases, the hinges are first fixed to the frame and then to the door.

If, when checking the door for operability, a squeak is observed, then use machine oil, technical petroleum jelly or grease to lubricate them. If the loops are too deep, special pads based on rubber or thick cardboard are installed under them.

If there is a problem with the door leaf being too low, then to raise it, you should install washers between the canopies. If, while installing the hinges, you get stuck with a screw that cannot be pulled out, use a drill to remove it. The place where the screw was installed should be sealed with a wooden dowel, which was previously soaked in glue.

• For plastic doors, the hinges are equipped with devices for adjusting the distance between the door leaf and the frame. They are installed by craftsmen on metal-plastic doors used for balconies and loggias.

How to install correctly?

To insert hinges into a wooden door, you will need the following tools:

• electric cutter (chisel) and hammer;

First you need to mark. Measure 20-25 cm from the top and bottom of the door leaf and mark with a pencil. Check the wood in this area for defects and damage; if any are found, move the markings slightly.

Attach the edges of the buttonholes to the marks and outline their outline. Use a chisel to cut out a recess in the door along the outlined contour to the depth of the thickness of the tool. Remove excess wood using a chisel and hammer. If you make a mistake at this stage, use cardboard or rubber inserts.

Attach the hinges to the door leaf with screws (self-tapping screws). To prevent cracks, drill thin holes for screws.

The same procedures are carried out with door frame. To cut out the outline of the door hinges in the frame, fix the door leaf using wooden wedges, leaving a gap of 2-3 mm between it and the frame. To make work easier, if the lock is already in place, lock the door with a key.

Check the position of the door in space using a plumb line - deviations in any direction are unacceptable. To ensure accurate markings, unscrew the hinges from the door leaf.

Avoid excessively deepening the cutout on the door frame - it will lead to warping of the leaf when opening and closing.

• Mark the location of the bottom loop. Drill holes for screws.

• welding machine;
• electrodes with a 3-4 mm cross-section;
• grinding machine with a sharpening wheel;
• felt-tip pen;
• 3mm metal plates.

• use spot welding to attach the hinges so that they reliably support the door mass (before this, remove the bearing and adjustment screw);

• check their correct location by carefully closing/opening the door, also pay attention to the freedom of movement of the door, the absence of warping and the completeness of opening;
• if everything is done correctly, thoroughly weld all the parts;
• remove the slag using a grinder until the joint is smooth;
• insert the ball bearing and adjustment screw;
• paint the door and hinges, pour grease inside.

Preparing the necessary tools

1. Place the canvas in the box and secure it with wooden wedges in the way it should be in the installed state. To level the door leaf, use a building level.
2. After aligning the canvas, mark on the frame where the door hinges come into contact with the door.
3. As with the door leaf, use a hammer and chisel to make the required number of recesses for installing door hinges.

The alignment of the door leaf in the frame should be carried out not only vertically, but also horizontally. Unfaithful vertical installation will cause the door to open spontaneously, and the horizontal one will make it difficult to close it.

Installation of mortise hinges

1. Sink the hinges into the recesses made in the previous stages of work on the door.
2. Using a screwdriver, make holes in the wood for the hinges.
3. Take screws of suitable diameter and use a screwdriver to secure the hinges on the door leaf.
4. Install the door in doorway and secure it with wooden wedges.
5. Sink the loops into the indentations made, then repeat steps 2-3.
