If you decide to purchase new beautiful doors Please note whether the kit includes door leaf, frame, handle and lock, door hinges. If the design is sold without hinges, you will have to select and install them on the door yourself. This process must be approached responsibly, since unsuitable fittings can ruin the appearance of the door, and incorrect installation– lead to distortion of the canvas and problems during operation.

  • simplicity and ease of installation;
  • opportunity self-installation without special skills and tools.
  • the design of the canopies does not allow, if necessary, to remove the doors without unscrewing the screws;
  • doors that are heavy cannot be hung on them.

IN Lately Particularly popular are overhead “butterfly” hinges – these are hinges without a mortise, the graceful shape of which resembles a butterfly’s wing. When folded, one part of the structure is nested within the other, ensuring minimal thickness.

Mortise

In appearance they resemble overhead hinges, but differ from them in the installation method: to install mortise hinges, cutouts are made in the end of the door leaf and frame. The recesses must correspond to the thickness and dimensions of the wings of the structure.

  • relative ease of installation;
  • low price.

The downside is the need to cut recesses in parts of the door structure.

Overhead and mortise door hinges are detachable and universal. Universal designs are considered more reliable, as they have a rigid assembly that prevents the doors from sagging and loosening.

Corner

Not flat wing-plates, but corners are attached to the axial rod of such canopies. They are installed on interior doors in the same way as mortise doors.

Hidden

They differ from all other designs, as they are installed in pre-prepared recesses, cut into a box and door leaf.

  • invisible fastenings do not interfere with the aesthetic appearance of the door structure;
  • make it possible to adjust the position of the door;
  • such loops cannot be cut.

The only drawback is the complexity of installation; without certain skills you are unlikely to be able to install such hinges correctly.

Screw-in

These door hinges, instead of wings, have pins on the axis that are screwed into the door leaf and frame. The device has a number of models with different amounts threaded pins designed for different weight doors

  • versatility (no need to select right and left loops);
  • invisibility.
  • Only doors with a European door can be hung on such hinges;
  • when used on structures made of low-grade brittle material, they can lead to cracking and chipping.

Selection of canopies based on material of manufacture

Depending on the material, loops are divided into three types:

  1. Steel - considered the most reliable and durable. In their pure form they are not very attractive; chrome-plated models look more aesthetically pleasing.
  2. Brass - beautiful to look at, but less durable due to the plasticity of the material. Can be polished or chrome plated.
  3. Brass plated - made of zinc or steel alloys, with a layer of brass on top, often additionally coated with enamel or compounds that imitate noble metals.

A few words about “butterflies”

If you decide to go with the easiest-to-install hinge option, it is advisable to purchase them in specialized stores. When purchasing, make sure that the sides of the structure fold correctly, otherwise unevenness will form during installation and the door will not fit well or begin to spring.

Due to the overhead installation method and structural properties, butterfly awnings are intended primarily for lightweight interior doors. Thanks to its aesthetic form, a clean installation that takes place without disturbance decorative finishing door leaf, ideal for hanging modern doors with original design.

Let's consider the sequence of installing popular butterfly hinges on the door, which are mounted without inserting into the door leaf and frame.

An important advantage of butterfly hinges is their exceptional ease of installation: you do not need to know how to handle carpentry tools.

  • First, the initial marking of the location of the loop is made. To do this, you need to measure the distance from the top and bottom edges of the door leaf - it should be at least 200 mm. Attach inner part loops to the place of its future fastening on the canvas and outline the part with a pencil.

Note! The hinges are placed with hinges to the front of the door.

  • Holding the loop, mark the points for drilling holes for the screws using an awl or a thin drill, the diameter of which should not exceed the diameter of the screw axis.
  • Screw the inside of each hinge to the door leaf with self-tapping screws.
  • Install the canvas into the box, maintaining the required gap, make sure that the upper and lower ends are positioned correctly (strictly horizontal), and secure it with wedges.
  • Mark the location of the outer part of the hinge, remove the wedges and screw the top hinge to the box.

Important! To avoid breaking or distortion of the hinge, you need to support the door before installing the lower canopy.

  • Place the door leaf in a strictly vertical position.
  • Mark the position of the bottom hinge on the box and prepare holes for the screws.
  • Tighten the screws and secure the position of the bottom hinge correctly.

For fastening and further exploitation doors in furniture production use Various types loops If you bought a cabinet and decided to assemble it yourself, then you cannot avoid the process of installing doors on furniture hinges.

Figure 1. Furniture hinge design

On modern market furniture presented different kinds door hinges, which include both four-hinged hinges and simply hinged ones, which were very popular back in Soviet times. Today, four-hinged hinges are very popular, they are simple and reliable design, and easy installation. They have high level strength, which provides an unlimited number of opening-closing cycles. Another significant advantage of such a mechanism is the ability to adjust it in 3 planes, which will allow you to align the cabinet doors without any problems.

The four-hinged hinge consists of the following elements (Fig. 1):

  • cup;
  • shoulder;
  • mounting (reciprocal) plate.

The loop is fixed to the furniture frame mounting plate, and the cup towards the door. Self-tapping screws are used as fastening elements. The arm acts as a lever and connects the cup to the strike plate using a four-joint device. There is an adjusting screw in the cover of the bar, with which you can adjust the position of the door relative to the base.

According to the method of applying the sash to the body, the hinges are divided into:

  1. Invoices. They are used when the door covers the sides of the niche in which it is located. This method of fastening doors is the most popular, so it can be found on almost any furniture set.
  2. Semi-overhead. They are used when 2 doors fit onto the same side of a piece of furniture. Hinges of this type differ from others by a slight bend in the base, which provides a small distance between the two facades.
  3. Internal. Applicable in case internal fastening facade, that is, the door does not cover the side of the niche in which it is located, but is located inside it. The base of such hinges has a pronounced bend.
  4. Angular. Using such mechanisms, you can secure the doors at a certain angle.

Preparatory work

to install furniture hinge on the cabinet with your own hands, you need to prepare tools such as:

Figure 2. Loop marking

  • screwdriver;
  • end mill with a diameter of 35 mm;
  • ruler;
  • building level;
  • awl;
  • pencil;
  • self-tapping screws – 3.5x16 or 4x16 mm, 2 pcs. for 1 loop.

After preparing the tool, marking is made, which consists of marking the center of each hole for the hinges. Depending on the height of the door, as well as the placement of the height of the shelves, about 7-12 cm recede from the edge of the facade. If the door has large dimensions, then it is necessary to use not 2 hinges, but 3 or more. In this case, the step between the canopies must be at least 50 cm. The dependence of the number of hinges on the height and weight of the facade is presented in the table.

After marking the height, mark the centers of the holes from the edges along the width. For a standard door hinge, the distance from the edge should be approximately 21-22 mm (Fig. 2). When marking, you must ensure that after installing the hinges they do not come into contact with the cabinet shelves, because this will interfere normal functioning doors.

The installation of the door frame is accompanied by the work of installing the door on the hinges. It is quite possible to perform this process on your own, but only if you become familiar with the technology for its implementation. There are several methods for installing a door on hinges. We'll look at how to embed hinges into a door and how to remove a door from its hinges below.

How to hang a door on hinges: features of the professional method

This method of installing a door on hinges is easy to implement. It is most often used by professional workers due to the speed of work. Therefore, during the work process you will need to have special tool. First of all, to insert the loops you will need to use a manual milling machine. With its help, it is possible to perform work on arranging a clean cut. Also, you should prepare a tool with which you can cut the hinges.

This device has the shape of a lining that prevents mechanical damage to the door leaf. Moreover, with the help of some professional tools, it is possible to completely set the dimensions of the hole for the hinges on the door leaf. In this case, it is possible to significantly simplify the process of installing the door on the hinges.

Please note that there is equipment that can be used to create a groove both on the surface of the door leaf and on the door frame. With it there are two parts door frame are connected together, so the process of combining groove joints disappears on its own. It is with the help of this equipment that it is possible to speed up the installation of hinges on the door.

If you don’t have such tools, you shouldn’t give up, because with just one milling machine, you can also do the work of mounting the door on the hinges. This tool, if you have the skills to work with it, allows you to build a groove connection for hinges, both on the door and on the door frame. However, the disadvantage of its use is the low quality of the result obtained and more time to complete the insertion.

Also, if you are careless with the mechanism, there is a risk of scratches on the door and spoiling the attractiveness of their appearance. Therefore, the foot of the router should be covered with a protective material such as felt.

How to put a door on hinges using a homemade method

This method is characterized by a lower quality of the result obtained than the previous option. To carry it out, a chisel and a hammer are enough. Popularity this method is explained primarily by the availability of materials for its implementation.

If the door has laminated coating, then as a result, the edges of the groove for the hinges will be sloppy and aesthetically unattractive. Instructions on how to install hinges on a door with your own hands are given below:

1. At the beginning of work, markings should be made for installing the groove. To do this, install the canopy on the end part of the canvas, outline it with a pencil. Please note that at this stage you should be especially careful, since the hinges must be installed in proportion to the door leaf. Incorrectly installed hinges will not be able to rationally distribute the load and will lead to premature failure of the door.

2. Next comes the process of edging the groove joint. A hammer and chisel are used for these purposes. The chisel should be installed a few millimeters inside the door leaf. This edging should be done in relation to the previously completed markings.

3. Next comes the process of selecting the groove joint itself using a chisel. In this case, the chisel is installed with a slight slope. The groove connection is knocked out with a hammer. Particular care must be taken at this stage to avoid damage to the face surface.

This method of installing hinges is suitable for wooden door, which is subject to further coloring. Since after its implementation, sloppy chips and selections are formed. Coloring will help eliminate and improve their appearance.

How to install hinges on a door: features and technology of the process

If you do not have experience installing doors on hinges, then it is best to use this option. Using a certain type of canopy allows you to avoid cutting them into special grooves. There are two ways to do the work:

1. Use of hinges without inserts. To install this kind of hinged mechanisms, you will not need to cut grooves either on the door or on the frame. Their design is quite simple and allows them to be installed directly on the door. After the door is closed, they are installed into each other, since the thickness of one part of the hinge is no more than 0.25 cm, a technological gap is formed between them. To install this hinge, simply screw it onto the door and the door frame. Among the disadvantages of using this method is, first of all, the unaesthetic appearance of the door after installation.

2. The use of screw-in hinges is also important for beginners. In this case, the grooves on which conventional hinges are attached are replaced with holes. To install such a hinge, you will need two holes in the door frame and one in the door itself. To install the canopy, simply screw it into the previously prepared holes. Please note that the holes must be located in the correct order in relation to each other. Appearance such loops are more attractive than the previous version.

In addition, another alternative option door installation, is the use of pin hinges. They are inserted directly into the canvas. However, the specific design of such a loop hides the place from the insert, so the aesthetic side of the issue remains at the proper level.

This loop consists of two plates, the rotation of which is carried out around an axis. This device is installed at the bottom and top of the door. In some cases, the top hinge is still visible, but only if the door is left open.

How to weld hinges on a door made of metal

To perform these works, an electric arc welding. At the same time, it is necessary to have skills in working with these tools. Properly installed and welded hinges on the door will ensure high-quality and silent opening.

In addition, during the work process you will need to have:

  • steel door hinges;
  • records;
  • welding;
  • electrodes;
  • mechanic's type hammer;
  • Bulgarians;
  • special clothing, masks and protective gloves.

Most often, the loops are cylindrical or have hexagons. The first version of the hinge is simpler to make and easier to weld to the door. To weld the hinges, special plates are used.

All work is carried out outdoors; the surface for laying the door must be strictly horizontal. scarves must be welded to the loops using continuous seam. Otherwise, the quality and reliability of the connection will be compromised.

In addition, the plate must be selected in relation to the size of the loop. Also, you should take into account the load from the door, its weight and dimensions. With the help of these elements it is possible to equip the so-called work site, which will be held welding work. In addition, they will serve as a support between the door and the hinge.

Before installing the hinges on the door and before starting welding, the doors are installed in a vertical position. Next, their position in relation to the loops is checked. After checking and marking the welding points, the welding process on the door frame follows. It is with the help of plates that the welding process can be facilitated for people who have no experience in performing this work.

To check that the door is installed correctly, use laser level. It is he who will help determine the installation location of the second of the loops, after welding the first. This is followed by attaching the hinge, pressing the door to the leaf and continuing to work. After welding the loops is completed, the seams are processed using a grinder.

How to hang hinges on a door: features of choosing hinges

When the need arises to hang hinges on a door, people who have never done this turn to specialists and spend quite a lot of money to complete this process. However, before attaching hinges to the door, we recommend that you familiarize yourself with the recommendations that will help you perform this process even for beginners.

First of all, installing hinges begins with their selection. You should also determine the number and direction of hinges on the door, if they did not come with it. If the door is double-leaf, then for its installation you will need two hinges for each of the leaves.

There are several options for door hinges:

  • card;
  • mortise;
  • hidden;
  • Screw-in type hinges.

Each of these loop options has individual advantages and disadvantages. Card loops can be either removable or non-removable. The second version of the hinges provides two-way opening of the door. However, if you need to remove the door, it is best to use removable hinges.

The mortise version of the hinge is used if total weight door leaf is more than twenty kilograms.

To install hinges on single door, the type of opening should be determined. The number of hinges is determined based on the weight of the door, the material from which it is made and the operational load that is placed on it. To fix a door consisting of one leaf, two hinges are enough; if it is an entrance door, then it is better to use three hinges.

Tip: When purchasing hinges in a store, ask the salesperson to open them for you. Since quite often you come across mechanisms with deformed rods inside.

In addition, make sure that the color of the hinges is in harmony with the overall tone of the door, fittings such as handles and locks. The screws must also match the color of the hinges. To carry out the work of hanging a door on its hinges, you will need:

  • plumb line;
  • level;
  • drill or screwdriver;
  • chisels;
  • hammer;
  • measuring tape;
  • carpenter's pencil.

The hinges are installed in relation to the top and bottom of the door by 20-30 cm. If there is a third hinge, its installation is carried out directly in the center of the door leaf. If you plan to install four hinges, then the total length of the door should be divided into five parts and the installation location of each canopy should be marked.

One part of the hinge is installed on the door leaf, without rods. The second part of the hinge is installed directly on the door frame.

In order to fix the hinge on the door leaf, follow the instructions on how to install hinges on the door:

1. Place the hinge on the surface of the door and trace it with a pencil.

2. Using a chisel, remove the hinge installation outline. The depth of the layer being removed should be equal to the thickness of the loop itself.

3. Using an electric drill or screwdriver, secure the hinge using the previously purchased self-tapping screws.

4. When choosing the diameter of the drill, choose an element that is half a centimeter smaller than the screw itself. Thus, it will be possible to increase the reliability of fastening.

6. In these areas you should also remove the top layer using a chisel. Fix the second part of the canopy in these recesses. Make sure the rods are horizontal. Otherwise, it will not be possible to achieve smooth opening of the door.

It is possible to change the order of actions. In some cases, the hinges are first fixed to the frame and then to the door.

If, when checking the door for operability, a squeak is observed, then use machine oil, technical petroleum jelly or grease to lubricate them. If the loops are too deep, special pads based on rubber or thick cardboard are installed under them.

If there is a problem with the door leaf being too low, then to raise it, you should install washers between the canopies. If, while installing the hinges, you get stuck with a screw that cannot be pulled out, use a drill to remove it. The place where the screw was installed should be sealed with a wooden dowel, which was previously soaked in glue.

Installing hinges on a door video:

Installing door hinges during DIY repairs is a responsible job, because the accuracy of the door’s orientation relative to the jamb depends on their correct insertion. The slightest misalignment can lead to loose closure or, in the most severe cases, complete impossibility of closing with a lock. Therefore, there are two options - learn how to hang the door on the buttonholes yourself or entrust this important procedure to a qualified specialist.

How to choose?

There are several types of door hinges.

Steel

The most durable and reliable. They don't have a very attractive appearance. More cute chrome products, but their cost is higher than that of ordinary ones. The lifespan of these elements is practically unlimited.

Brass

The most beautiful in appearance, but short-lived loops. Brass is a soft alloy, so it tends to wear off quite quickly.

Brass plated

The materials used for their manufacture are brass-like alloys. Relatively cheap parts, but their service life is short, since they wear out too quickly.

The design of door hinges depends on the material of the door leaf.

  • Elements for glass doors (for example, bath or sauna doors) - grip and fix the glass on both sides. Inserts made of rubber or silicone help with fixation. To install such door hinges, special equipment is required.

  • For metal doors, hinges are divided into external and hidden. The design of the external ones includes support ball bearings or liner balls and an adjustment screw. This is done to compensate for the abrasion of metal parts. Internal hinges (hidden) protect against unwanted persons entering the room - they cannot be damaged or removed, since they have no protruding parts.

  • For plastic doors, the hinges are equipped with devices for adjusting the distance between the door leaf and the frame. They are installed by craftsmen on metal-plastic doors used for balconies and loggias.
  • Models for wooden doors are divided into overhead or card (simple and corner), mortise, screw-in and Italian. Overlays can be removable or non-removable. Possible self installation them on the doors between rooms using carpentry tools.

The following parameters influence the choice of door hinges.

  • Weight. For massive and oversized doors, additional hinges are required, whereas usually only two are needed. In this case, the third loop is not installed in the middle, but is shifted slightly upward. It should also be noted that not all fastening elements are suitable for heavy doors.
  • The presence or absence of ball bearings. They are necessary so that heavy doors open easily and do not creak.

  • Opening vector. Based on this feature, loops are divided into right, left and universal. Last view products can be attached from any side, but their installation and dismantling becomes more complicated.
  • Intensity of use.

When choosing products in a store, be sure to check them - sometimes they sell defective products. It is advisable to choose a color for the model so that it does not stand out from the color range door, handle and lock. The same applies to fastening devices.

How to install correctly?

To insert hinges into a wooden door, you will need the following tools:

  • electric cutter (chisel) and hammer;

  • screwdriver;
  • screws;
  • carpentry pencil;
  • construction plumb (level);
  • wood wedges.

First you need to mark. Measure 20-25 cm from the top and bottom of the door leaf and mark with a pencil. Check the wood in this area for defects and damage; if any are found, move the markings slightly.

Attach the edges of the buttonholes to the marks and outline their outline. Use a chisel to cut out a recess in the door along the outlined contour to the depth of the thickness of the tool. Remove excess wood using a chisel and hammer. If you make a mistake at this stage, use cardboard or rubber inserts.

Attach the hinges to the door leaf with screws (self-tapping screws). To prevent cracks, drill thin holes for screws.

The same procedures are carried out with door frame. To cut out the outline of the door hinges in the frame, fix the door leaf using wooden wedges, leaving a gap of 2-3 mm between it and the frame. To make work easier, if the lock is already in place, lock the door with a key.

Check the position of the door in space using a plumb line - deviations in any direction are unacceptable. To ensure accurate markings, unscrew the hinges from the door leaf.

Avoid excessively deepening the cutout on the door frame - it will lead to warping of the leaf when opening and closing.

In case of insufficient experience with carpentry tools ideal option There will be installation of “no-cut” butterfly hinges. When the door is closed, both parts are nested into one another. To open and close the door easily, you need a small gap between the door leaf and the frame.

Installation instructions

  • Measure approximately 25 cm from the top of the door frame, attach the product and trace the outline. This is necessary to correct the position of the part if it is displaced.
  • Drill small holes at the screw mounting points.
  • Attach the hinges to the jamb.

  • Place the door in the opening maintaining the required clearances. Fix it strictly horizontally using wooden wedges.
  • Mark the location of the top buttonhole.
  • Screw the top hinge and remove the wedges. Temporarily support the canvas to prevent it from warping and deforming the loop.
  • Check that it is vertical.
  • Mark the location of the bottom loop. Drill holes for screws.
  • Screw in the screws and secure the bottom hinge.

To put hinges on metal entrance group, you need to perform slightly different steps.

Required tools:

  • welding machine;
  • electrodes with a 3-4 mm cross-section;
  • grinding machine with a sharpening wheel;
  • felt-tip pen;
  • 3mm metal plates.

Stages of installation of overhead hinges with a ball bearing and an adjustment screw

  • install metal door in the door frame;
  • place the prepared plates under and on the sides of the canvas to ensure the required distance between it and the box;
  • measure 24-25 cm from the bottom and top and mark this place with a felt-tip pen;
  • attach the hinges with orientation according to the markings and determine their location, which ensures freedom to open and close the door;
  • use spot welding to attach the hinges so that they reliably support the door mass (before this, remove the bearing and adjustment screw);

  • check their correct location by carefully closing/opening the door, also pay attention to the freedom of movement of the door, the absence of warping and the completeness of opening;
  • if everything is done correctly, thoroughly weld all the parts;
  • remove the slag using a grinder until the joint is smooth;
  • insert the ball bearing and adjustment screw;
  • paint the door and hinges, pour grease inside.

If you have doubts about your ability to properly weld fasteners to iron door, call a specialist.

For pretend fabrics, it is better to use corner buttonholes. Their difference from straight ones is that instead of plates they have two corners.

Installation of corner overhead models is carried out according to the same algorithm as straight ones - one part is attached to the end of the door leaf, and the second to the jamb.

Currently, improved types of products are used more during installation. Hidden models do not spoil the surface of the door leaf with their presence; they do not require special care behind you, and doors on such hinges are better able to resist burglary and unauthorized entry.

Inset of hidden elements

  • mark the location of the parts of the product;
  • use an electric router to cut a hole for the mechanism;
  • in the place intended for fasteners, make a recess using a chisel;
  • disassemble the buttonholes;

  • most insert into the jamb and secure with screws;
  • the smaller part is fixed in the door leaf;
  • connect the elements and tighten the adjustment screw;
  • if you want to disguise visible parts of the products, install decorative overlays.

Installing hinges on doors - important stage installation of the door leaf and frame. On the one hand, this process does not cause any problems, since it comes down to installing the hinges themselves and securing the door leaf, but on the other hand, it requires time, as well as patience and the availability of the tools necessary for installation. Before installing door hinges with your own hands, think about whether you can achieve High Quality work. It is on the correct installation of hinges and doors on them that their further operation largely depends.

Types of door hinges

Features of the installation of certain loops will depend on their type. Hinges are classified according to structural features and fastening into three main types:

  • Invoices. They consist of two identical parts fastened together. One part is fixed to the door frame, the other to the leaf. There are also ones that represent a single whole. Installation of overhead hinges does not require special skills and is the simplest and most accessible to everyone.

Mortise. They are more complex and long installation, which requires special equipment and skills to work with it. The complexity of installation is compensated by the wide distribution of mortise hinges, as well as their reliability and durability.

  • Screw-in. They are fastened using threaded pins - they are screwed into the door leaf, thereby securely fastening to its surface. Usually installed in the amount of three pieces per door, they differ in the number of fastening pins.

There are also hidden door hinges, which are highly complex to install, but guarantee excellent security and safety of your home.

Preparing the necessary tools

The installation process is unthinkable without a set of certain materials, tools and equipment necessary for the job. So, before starting installation you should prepare:

  • door hinges.
  • screwdriver and set of screws.
  • pencil (necessary for marking).
  • a set of wooden wedges for leveling the structure.
  • building level.
  • hammer and chisel.

After you have verified that the work area If you have the tools and materials listed above, you can begin installing door hinges.

Correct marking

Installing door hinges by eye is unacceptable - even a small error can lead to distortion and deformation of the door leaf and structure. Marking is done with a pencil as follows:

  1. Attach the hinges to the intended installation locations. Hinges should be placed with a minimum distance of 20 centimeters from the edges of the door (top and bottom).
  2. Trace the hinges attached to the door end with a pencil, then set them aside.
  3. Using a chisel and hammer, make the indentations in the marked areas necessary to install the mortise hinges.

Pay close attention to the thickness of the recess. If it exceeds the thickness of the hinge, the door will rest against the frame when closing. Ultimately, this will lead to deformation of the door leaf and problems with opening and closing the door.

Before installing hinges on the door, you need to mark the door frame. This operation will require skill and patience to correctly determine the location of the loop:

  1. Place the canvas in the box and secure it with wooden wedges in the way it should be in the installed state. To level the door leaf, use a building level.
  2. After aligning the canvas, mark on the frame where the door hinges come into contact with the door.
  3. As with the door leaf, use a hammer and chisel to make the required number of recesses for installing door hinges.

The alignment of the door leaf in the frame should be carried out not only vertically, but also horizontally. Unfaithful vertical installation will cause the door to open spontaneously, and the horizontal one will make it difficult to close it.

Correct installation of door hinges

Installation of mortise hinges

Inserting loops into interior door- the most complex procedure of all possible, so once you master it, you can easily install overhead and screw-in hinges. The installation procedure for mortise hinges is as follows:

  1. Sink the hinges into the recesses made in the previous stages of work on the door.
  2. Using a screwdriver, make holes in the wood for the hinges.
  3. Take screws of suitable diameter and use a screwdriver to secure the hinges on the door leaf.
  4. Install the door in doorway and secure it with wooden wedges.
  5. Sink the loops into the indentations made, then repeat steps 2-3.

During installation, carefully ensure that the door is level in the frame and does not move during installation. Before hanging the door on its hinges, carefully align it in the doorway using building level(as when marking).

Installation of overhead hinges

This is the easiest method to use and does not require insertion and preliminary preparation door and door frame (without creating recesses). Simplicity lies in the design of such hinges and in the installation features - you don’t have to think about how to weld the hinges and secure them as firmly as possible in the socket.

Installation is similar to installing mortise hinges, however, the parts are not installed in special recesses, but are simply screwed to the end of the door and frame using screws. As in the previous case, it is important to maintain correct position door leaf in space throughout the installation of hinges.

Installation of screw-in hinges

Installation of screw-in door hinges will not cause problems even for a novice craftsman. Typically, installation involves three simple steps:

  1. Before installing the hinges on the door, you need to drill holes in the door leaf using a special template, which usually comes with the hinges. Sockets for hinges are drilled both on the door and on the frame, at the same level.
  1. The next step is to install the hinges in place. One half is placed on the door, the second on the frame.
  2. The final stage is “stringing” door hinges onto frame hinges. This completes the simple installation of hinges.

After installation is complete, it is recommended to prevent squeaking when opening and closing doors, as well as to extend the life of door hinges.
