Multi-split system – great choice for offices, shops, private homes and large apartments, in which there is a need for air conditioning of several rooms at once. Such climate control technology differs from conventional wall-mounted air conditioners in that here there is one external unit with inverter compressor several internal ones are connected at the same time, separated by different rooms. This allows you to avoid cluttering the façade of the building and maintain a comfortable microclimate throughout the entire facility.

Peculiarities

The advantages of multi-split air conditioning systems include the following:

  • Preserving the aesthetics of the building facade
  • Ease of use and ease of maintenance
  • Possibility of using different indoor units
  • Wide variety of installation options
  • Low noise level due to the presence of only one source
  • Savings on electrical installation work
  • High energy efficiency
  • Versatility of use

Modern inverter multi-split systems can operate for cooling and heating, are reliable and functional.

The internal unit of a split system performs the main task of an air conditioner - it cools the air in the room. Structurally includes:

· housing with blinds;

· radiator (evaporator);

· fan with electric motor;

· electronic control unit;

· water drainage system.

Additionally, inside the case there are air filters and a container for collecting moisture.

Depending on the design, indoor units are wall-mounted or floor-mounted. As an option - universal, that is, they can be attached to the wall or installed on the floor.

A feature of modern indoor units is the antibacterial coating of the evaporator surface.

Benefits and Features

One of the significant advantages of split systems is their compactness. The indoor unit of the air conditioner takes up little space and fits nicely into the interior of any room.

The air conditioner can operate in cooling, dehumidifying and heating modes. This versatility is especially useful in the cold season when central heating does not work.

The split system is configured and controlled using the remote control. If necessary, the air conditioner operates automatically.

A special coating protects everything from corrosion metal surfaces indoor unit.

Additional functions of the indoor unit

Each modern indoor air conditioner unit has additional functions:

· accelerated microclimate creation mode;

· protection against icing of the evaporator;

· energy saving;

night mode of operation of the device;

· settings memory;

· permanent (washable) filters.

You can buy the indoor air conditioner unit separately in our online store. When choosing a product, the manager will tell you in detail about all functionality and will help you choose exactly the device that will completely ensure a comfortable microclimate in your room.

Greetings to all readers of the site “All about air conditioners”. Today I will tell you what parts the internal unit of a split system consists of, and what each of them is needed for. We will also analyze the joint principle of operation of all these components.

Many of you know that there are several types of devices for various purposes in industry and everyday life. Each of them has its own design and its own characteristics. To understand them, I have a separate article dedicated to them. But today we will look at the most common type of air conditioner in houses and apartments - wall split system.

Details of the internal block of a wall-mounted split system

Evaporator (radiator)

As we know, the most important function of an air conditioner is to cool the room. Therefore, the main part of the indoor unit is the radiator (aka evaporator, also known as heat exchanger). It is called an evaporator because in the cooling mode, freon evaporates (boils) inside its tubes. Based on this process.

The (cooling power) of the “split” largely depends on the size and shape of the evaporator. The more powerful the air conditioner, the larger its radiator should be. This element consists of tubes crossed by thin plates (similar to lamellas). Freon moves through the tubes at a certain temperature. And the plates increase the heat transfer surface area, which significantly affects its efficiency.

Manufacturers are doing their best to improve (complicate) the shape of the radiator and its plates. For simple ones wall models this may be a straight small radiator; in other models this radiator may have complex shape occupies most housings. The radiators of modern air conditioners have an antibacterial coating, which in some way prevents the proliferation of viruses. But since such little things are not visible from the outside, almost no buyer pays attention to these things. But in vain!

Shaft (fan)

In order for a radiator to quickly and effectively cool a room, it is necessary to “force” air to pass through it. This is helped by a shaft (also known as a fan, also known as an impeller), which creates air movement through the radiator and blows it into the room. This part of wall-mounted air conditioners is a drum with blades. The blades and the shaft itself are designed in such a way as to reduce the noise of its operation. For all wall-mounted air conditioners, it is located under the evaporator. For most models, the radiator seems to outline a shape around the shaft. This design combines the most efficient heat exchange and ergonomics (allows you to make the indoor unit compact).

Motor (motor) shaft

The shaft of the indoor unit is driven into rotation by a motor. It is located to the right of the fan and is controlled by a board (I’ll write more about it below). The motor is fixed with a special casing to the block body.

Drainage tray (bath)

During operation of the air conditioner, condensation (water droplets) forms on the evaporator. In order to “collect” all this water, a so-called drainage tray (aka bath, aka tray) is used. In some air conditioners it is connected together with the housing, but in most

designs it is removable. Along with moisture, all dust and dirt collects in it. Therefore, it is much more convenient to wash and maintain this tray when it is detached from the body. The front lower part of the radiator seems to lie in this tray and condensation from the radiator flows directly into the tray. Most often, water is discharged to the street through.

Horizontal and vertical blinds (curtains)

Any wall-mounted indoor unit has two types of curtains, with the help of which the direction of air flow is partially regulated. Horizontal blinds regulates the flow up and down. Behind them are vertical blinds, representing several “petals”. They regulate the flow left and right. All these curtains are attached under the drainage tray. When servicing, they are removed along with the tray. They are driven by small motors.

Control unit (board) with sensors

To synchronize (coordinate) the operation of all parts, a so-called control unit (the “brains” of the air conditioner) is located inside the housing. They manage all nodes. This element is a board to which “power” is supplied. All wires, motor starting elements and sensors are connected to it. This board is located on the right side of the indoor unit housing.

The operating algorithm of this block is based on indicators temperature sensors, and issues commands to the main components of the air conditioner (compressor, fans and expansion valves), turning them on and off in a timely manner. Thus, the unit controls each element of the split system, maintaining the required temperature in the room.

Air and radiator temperature sensors are the most important parts of the board. Their readings form the basis of the process of maintaining an accurate temperature in the room.

Filters

Required element of a modern air conditioner are its filters. They are located on top of the evaporator under the inspection cover of the housing. Mesh filters “collect” most of the dust. They can be removed and washed very quickly, which allows you to keep the evaporator itself clean for longer. In addition to strainers, many air conditioners are equipped with other filter elements. Some of them are able to effectively destroy bacteria and viruses - some eliminate odors, and some enrich oxygen with healthy particles.

Indoor unit housing

All of the above parts are combined and hidden in a single housing. He represents no less important detail, because to create modern interior You can’t do without a compact and effective design.

The quality of the final product—in our case, the air conditioner—is made up of the little things considered. The more modern each detail is, the more efficient, reliable and, accordingly, more expensive it is. IN modern world very high competition between manufacturers. Therefore, each of them offers its own technical solutions for a certain price category. This is where I end the article. Leave your comments!

Structurally, the external unit of a split system consists of a compressor that compresses the refrigerant, a condenser that performs the task of cooling freon, and a 4-way valve (used in functional systems, which can heat and cool rooms). In addition, it includes a fan that moves air and blows across the condenser, a control board and a system of fittings. The design also includes a grille that protects the devices from insects and foreign objects getting inside. Since the compressor is located in the outdoor unit, this significantly reduces the noise level in the refrigerated room - it is about 24–26 dB.

How to choose an external unit of a multi split system?

The following parameters must be taken into account:

  • device dimensions. As a rule, the dimensions of the blocks are 80 x 50 x 30 centimeters;
  • power. Selected in accordance with the serviced area of the premises;
  • noise level. It often happens that the air conditioner in a room operates silently, but outdoor unit It's buzzing a lot. Acceptable level noise – 33 dB.

The company's consultants will help you buy an external split system unit that is most suitable in price and technical specifications and corresponding to technological needs.

In the article we'll talk not about all monoblock air conditioners, which, by definition, do not have external units, that is, they are air conditioners without an external unit. This is a wide segment climate control equipment(windows, rooftops, mobile and stationary monoblocks) like all air conditioners, serving to maintain the microclimate in the room.

Advantages of a stationary monoblock air conditioner

And it has advantages:

  • Absence of an external block on the wall of the building.
  • To install them, you do not need to obtain permission to install an external unit. Sometimes this is not possible.
  • There are no freon lines and no need for rolling connections. If rolling is of poor quality, freon may leak. The dependence of installation quality on the qualifications of installers is eliminated.
  • Simple installation that is almost impossible to mess up.
  • Modern design. Big choice block colors.
  • There are models with an influx of outside air. The influent of the stationary monoblock is equipped with filtration, recovery and heating systems for outside air. But the volume of supplied air is small (up to 30 m 3 / h).

Pros and cons of installation

Installation of a wall-mounted air conditioner without an external unit is really simple and does not require highly qualified installers. You need to make holes in the wall according to the pattern for attaching the air conditioner plate and cut two holes with a diameter of 160 mm outwards. Insert two into them air channels. Install external grilles.

Channels, patterns and grilles are included in the package of a stationary monoblock - an air conditioner without an outdoor unit. A wonderful system for installing gratings that does not require high-altitude work. The gratings are simply made flexible. They are carefully pushed out and then unbent, closing the hole. A special cable is tied to the air conditioner body and secures the open grille

In renovated rooms, in order not to spoil the interior, external holes are cut using dry dry technology. diamond drilling(the drill is not cooled with water). Water is not allowed. It will definitely ruin the finish. The cost of two such holes (depending on the thickness and material of the wall) is slightly less than the cost of installing a split system. Yes, and it will not be possible to complete the work completely cleanly. Dust will still get into the room, no matter how powerful the vacuum cleaner that removes it is.

About the tightness of the wall-mounted monoblock

The freon circuit of an air conditioner without an external unit is evacuated and charged at the factory. The circuit is sealed and sealed, freon leakage is impossible. The system does not require maintenance. This is announced as one of the advantages.

In fact, freon leakage will still occur. Freon is very volatile. It penetrates into any microcracks. And, if there was no manufacturing defect, these cracks will form after several years of service.

Then the air conditioner needs to be recharged. But there are no valves for refueling. In this case copper tubes cut and add freon to the circuit. The quality of this work depends on the qualifications of the specialist.

Maintenance savings

The statement that stationary monoblocks do not require maintenance is incorrect. Maintenance is not just about controlling the amount of freon. It is necessary to clean and check the serviceability of heat exchangers and fans. Clean the drainage system. Check temperature regime, electrical connections.

Condensate removal system (drainage system)

The condensate must be drained outside through the air pipe of the air conditioner without an external unit. Some of the condensate evaporates. The one that does not evaporate pours out through the grate and can spoil the wall finish. This means that the drainage process cannot be considered resolved.

Here (as with a split), you need to think about the method of drainage and not disturb the finish of the wall outside. That is why the air conditioner kit without an external unit contains drainage pipes, and its design includes a hole for drainage.

Quiet operation?

The noise characteristics of wall-mounted monoblocks are from 32 dB to 42 dB. For a unit installed indoors, this is noisy. Modern outdoor units of split systems of similar power operate with such acoustic parameters. But with splits this part is taken outside. Therefore, air conditioners without an external unit the lineup limited to cooling power of 3.5 kW.

Noise from a model with more high power cooling would not allow their use in household premises. However, the manufacturer claims that the design of the air conditioner is changing and quiet models are appearing.

Price of stationary monoblocks

How much does an air conditioner cost without an external unit? The price of equipment is still high.

Here are examples of prices for inverter models:

Models ON/OFF:

For this money you can buy several very good split systems.

It turns out that a stationary monoblock, often inferior to split systems and other types of air conditioners in terms of technical characteristics, is a good compromise option in the case where there is no permission to install an outdoor unit, it is impossible to install it, or there is no possibility of laying a pipe line to install other equipment.
