Motorhomes: what the stars' trailers look like. What modern mobile homes are like: photo inside a trailer from Nelson Tiny Houses Photos of a mobile home

Comfortable motorhomes: photo inside a trailer with wooden trim

Our attention was once again drawn to mobile homes. Photos inside one of them make you believe that such dwellings can be comfortable and very beautiful. The very concept of tiny houses is increasingly exciting the minds of designers, forcing them to look for more and more new ways to implement it.

So, we are invited to evaluate the next project of this variety. We are talking about a nice dwelling with an area of 35 m2, which stands on the base of a five-wheel trailer, as if on a foundation. Its creator is Canadian company Nelson Tiny Houses is headquartered in British Columbia.

The house deserves special praise for its layout: it has a cozy living room and two whole sleeping places, one on the mezzanine, the other on a slight elevation in the far part of the room, behind a separate door. Seth Reidy, an architect on the project's design team, gives a tour of this comfortable retreat. By the way, it is located somewhere in the mountains today and is already serving its owners faithfully.

The dimensions of the house are approximately 11.5 x 2.7 m. There is a wide terrace attached to it, which can be seen from the windows of the living room. The most functional part of the interior is the living room. All its components are capable of transformation: corner sofa easily turns into dining area with a folding bamboo table or even an extra bed. Directly above the living room there are mezzanines on which sleeping area.

The house is heated using a Hobbit wood stove from Salamander Stoves. There is also a heat pump installed in the kitchen, which is spacious with comfortable work surfaces, a full-size sink, stove, refrigerator and pantry. There is an adjoining bathroom hidden behind a sliding door.

And the bathroom in this house is truly luxurious! Just a huge window that offers views of the surroundings (and they can turn out to be very picturesque) is located above a large and deep bathtub. The splendor of this corner is emphasized by the iridescent mosaic tiles. The toilet is connected to a septic sewer. Another one sliding door leads to a secluded loft bedroom.

The steps that lead to this cozy place are equipped drawers. The bedroom, located above the fifth wheel of the trailer, is well lit thanks to the presence of two windows, and it also has a quite voluminous closet. Seth Reidy, who is over 192 cm tall, can stand up straight here.

An unusual feature of this house is the roof, which was installed separately. It allowed us to create additional storage space.

In terms of comfort and even in size, this van is superior to many city studio apartments, which are very expensive due to their location. Meanwhile, it guarantees freedom from noisy and nosy neighbors, as well as from minor troubles that often accompany living in an apartment building.

The show “Celebrity Homes on Wheels” (0+) is filmed about their trailers: host Carter Ousterhouse visits celebrities and shows what their trailers look like from the inside. You can join Carter on Wednesdays at 8 pm on the Fine Living channel (available on cable and satellite networks). And we tell you what the mobile homes of Will Smith, Vin Diesel and Kelly Pickler are like.

Will Smith

Hollywood star Will Smith did not skimp on his motor home. Although you can hardly call a huge two-story trailer worth 2.5 million dollars a home. Rather, it is a real mansion. Smith lives in it during filming and does not want to deny himself anything. Only expensive ones in the interior natural materials: leather, wood, granite.

Popular

The arrangement of the bathroom alone cost the actor 25 thousand dollars. The design is made in noble brown-bronze tones. The trailer included space for a large dressing room and an impressive wardrobe. By the way, about the dressing room. There is a huge mirror in it, and in the mirror... a small TV screen. Everything so that the actor does not get bored during make-up.

But you can watch a movie in another room - on the second floor there is a home theater for 30 spectators. I wonder how often the actor watches films with his own participation?

Vin Diesel

The hero of the Fast and the Furious saga and dream man Vin Diesel does not want to sacrifice comfort on the set of the next movie hit. In his huge two-story van with an area of 100 sq. m. m the actor feels at home. Diesel spent no less than $1.1 million on furnishing the “cottage on wheels.” For a pleasant life, the trailer has everything you need, including state-of-the-art technology: the latest stereo systems and 3D TVs.

On top floor there is an office with panoramic windows, and next to it - game room for children. The actor does not like to be away from his family for a long time: his daughters and son often come to their dad for filming. Despite the reputation of a “loose guy”, Diesel chose for the interior calm colors: dark brown and beige. The actor did not forget about security: panoramic cameras were installed around the perimeter of the trailer, recording everything that happened around him.

Kelly Pickler

Country singer Kelly Pickler named her RV "Fairy." It turns out that Kelly spent her entire childhood in a trailer, so she liked this kind of home. She hates hotels and when on tour she lives only in her beloved van. It has everything a singer needs: a living room, a bedroom, a kitchen, two bathrooms, a mini-sauna, a dressing room and a huge wardrobe. Inside the latter lies a real treasure - a closet with 42 pairs of shoes! This will take any girl's breath away! But that is not all. Kelly also took care of her beloved dog: there is a special house for her in the trailer, and also a miniature staircase to the bedroom on the second floor.

IN last years RV culture is becoming increasingly popular among fans of outdoor recreation. How nice it is to get away from civilization for a day or two! And when a trend appears, “elite” things immediately appear, inaccessible to most people. And if just recently motorhomes were associated with grandpa’s old and rusty trailer, today everything has changed - truly luxurious models are appearing on the market.

  • not all countries can boast of a sufficient number of campsites, especially in Russia and neighboring countries.

Classification of mobile homes with photos of models

There are mobile motorhomes four types, which are built on the basis of a trailer or bus.

What is an integrated and semi-integrated motorhome

Type of motorhome Description

Integrated

This is one of the most comfortable types of class A transport. The cabin is integrated into common space, if necessary, in parking lots the driver and passenger seats can be turned towards the passenger compartment.

Vans are classified as class B. They are produced on serial chassis, on which a living cabin is installed.

View of a mobile home Description

Alcove

The main difference is the alcove or sleeping area for two people above the driver's cab. 6-8 people can travel comfortably in such vehicles.

House

Castevagen or minibus, which belongs to class D. It can comfortably accommodate 2 people, but to relax you need to make a stop to unfold the modules.

Caravan on wheels: photos inside and outside

Houses based on a trailer are also called cottages on wheels. They can also be equipped with a sleeping area and... This is an excellent option not only for caravanning; such a trailer can be used where construction is not permitted, or where there is simply no time to build a new house.

How a stationary trailer house works

Stationary caravans can accommodate up to six sleeping places. The length and width of the motorhome starts from 2.5 × 2.2 m. Manufacturers can additionally insulate the structure at the request of the customer, which allows you to travel comfortably in the caravan. winter conditions. In a large car you can place a bathroom, a kitchen with a stove, etc.

You should know this! You must not be in the trailer while driving.

When choosing a stationary trailer home, it is important to check the weight of the loaded model and assess whether your vehicle can move such a structure.

Tent trailers: photos inside and outside

Such trailers are designed for recreation in warm time years, since they do not provide insulation. They can be of different sizes; when folded, they are usually no more than a meter. The tent is laid out on a hard surface, the sleeping places are most often arranged in the trailer, and auxiliary places are located under the awning. Additionally, you can install a small one and equip it. There are three modifications of tent trailers:

  • the side wall and roof structures are rigid;
  • Only the walls are rigid, the roof is covered with an awning;
  • The walls are made of fabric, the roof is made of plastic.

What parameters should you use to choose a motorhome - recommendations from our editors

Each motorhome has certain advantages and disadvantages. Before choosing, you need to study specifications and financial capabilities, because their costs can differ significantly from each other.

Criterias of choice Recommendations
By living areaFor traveling in large groups, you should choose alcove structures that can accommodate up to 8 people.
By cross-country abilityMotorhomes have good maneuverability, with the exception of tent trailers.
PriceIntegrated cars are expensive and considered luxury items. For small trips in a company of 2-4 people, the most best option– minivan and tent trailer.
MaintenanceTent trailers are unpretentious in maintenance; they have practically no components that may need urgent repairs on the road, except for the wheels. A mobile home is a full-fledged vehicle with additional equipment; they have an order of magnitude more components that may require repairs.

If you are planning to join the ranks of car travelers, you need to familiarize yourself with the operating features of motorhomes:

  1. If you become the owner of a motorhome for the first time, it is recommended to make trips over short distances. Get a feel for the car, learn to drive, maneuver, drive in reverse, remember the “dead zone” that is located behind the car. Additionally, you can install a rear view camera.
  2. The braking distance of a loaded car is much higher than that of a normal one; while driving, it is important to maintain the speed limit and distance.
  3. Everything should be closed, the equipment should be well secured so that nothing falls during sudden braking and acceleration.
  4. Follow the instrument readings and pass on time Maintenance, then the car will delight you for many years.

What features await mobile home owners?

An independent road trip can be fraught with certain difficulties that should be taken care of in advance:

  • lack of campsites, especially in our country and neighboring countries. Accordingly, about reserves drinking water care should be taken in advance;
  • not all vehicle models can drive off-road;
  • You should check in advance for campsites along the road that can accommodate motorhomes. Often the map indicates rest areas for passenger cars;
  • campsites are located away from the highways, and this extra costs for fuel. In addition, a parking space is quite expensive, and stopping near rivers and lakes can result in a fine.

And, nevertheless, these difficulties are incomparable with the comfort that travelers receive in motorhomes or in cars with trailer houses. Independence from weather conditions and services imposed by guides in hotels, full service is always at hand - these are the main advantages of independent travel.

Compact tent trailer

The tent trailer can accommodate 2-4 people. The main disadvantage is that they can only be laid out in parking lots, and this will take some time. The advantages include:

  • they have a low height, which means that nothing restricts the passage, including underground parking;
  • a folding structure can have several zones: dining, sleeping and food preparation areas.

Features of mobile homes in the form of trailers

A trailer trailer, or caravan trailer, is a structure with rigid walls. Depending on the dimensions, it can accommodate two or more people. Manufacturers produce trailers in different configurations:

  • with insulated walls;
  • with kitchen;
  • Additionally, the trailer can be equipped with equipment: and washing;
  • with bathroom and shower;
  • with additional heating.

It should be noted that such comfort will cost a lot of money. For rare trips over short distances, you can buy more budget model without additional service.

Family motorhome based on a minivan

Most optimal solution for traveling without an emphasis on comfort - houses based on minivans. They can be used both for short distances and for planning longer holidays. The main purpose of such cars is a comfortable overnight stay on the road. If desired, owners can equip it with a small water tank. However, you need to remember that all equipment has a certain weight, and this increases fuel consumption.

Luxury item - a motor home based on a bus

The most expensive motorhome is made on the basis of a bus, the main advantage of which is that everything you need for a comfortable trip can be placed inside:

  • battery;
  • circuit;
  • install water containers;
  • secure gas cylinders.

All this equipment allows you to install a shower system, a bathroom, a refrigerator, a heater and organize several sleeping places in the camper.

Decent holiday at the highest level in a minibus

A motorhome based on a minibus is a real find for travelers. Inside the cabin, depending on the model, you can place:

  • bathroom and shower;
  • bedroom and kitchen;
  • all equipment.

IN small house on wheels, for example, on a Fiat base, 2-4 people can comfortably travel over any distance.

The nuances of making a mobile home with your own hands

If you wish, you can independently equip your car comfortably enough for long trips. However, it is better to clarify everything first technical details to avoid mistakes during rework.

It is important! You should first read regulations, as many motorhomes must meet certain requirements and must be registered.

How quickly and easily you can make a mobile home from a trailer with your own hands

It’s not at all difficult to make a house on wheels from a trailer with your own hands; here you will need skills to work with welding equipment. We offer you to clearly see how you can easily and quickly convert a trailer into a comfortable folding tourist house.

Illustration Description of action

Weld additional storage spaces on the sides of the trailer - metal glove compartments.

At the front of the trailer, you can make a structure with access from both sides to the trailer niche in disassembled form.

Next you need to replace the trailer wheels.

Install under the generator on the outside of the trailer.

On the back side you need to weld stops, which will be an additional support for the tent when disassembled.

Weld a frame on one side on which a canister for 10 liters of water will be installed.

Install 220 V sockets on the side, powered by a generator.

Install on both sides of the tent frame.

Install a removable tent on a welded frame.

Inside you can additionally make niches for small things.

Making your own motorhome on wheels from Gazelle

For the manufacture of a motor home on wheels based on a car perfect option– Gazelle minibus, it has an optimally sized body, which will make a fairly spacious residential complex:

  1. You should first carry out preparatory work: dismantle the seats and remove unnecessary objects; prime the body from the inside; finish the interior.
  2. Install generator and electrical.
  3. Secure the water container and make connections to the sink, toilet and shower.

Another popular model for motorhomes on wheels is Mercedes. It comes in different sizes, so in each case you should individually plan the comfortable placement of zones inside the cabin. Kamaz is also used for a house on wheels, the spacious body of which allows you to organize several rooms inside. The only caveat is that a truck is not intended for transporting people, so it needs lining of both wall and ceiling structures.

How much does a basic motorhome cost?

The most budget-friendly motorhomes on wheels are tent trailers and residential minivans. However, resting in them can hardly be called comfortable; they are more suitable for small outings and short trips. If you plan to devote a lot of time to travel, you should take care of the financial component. Tell us in the comments if you have thought about such a purchase, and what countries you plan to visit after purchasing it. And in conclusion, we suggest watching a video of how the 10 most expensive motorhomes in the world are equipped.

An RV, Recreational Vehicle or motor home is as old as a car. The history of the first mobile homes is more than 100 years old. According to the DOT, there are 8.2 million motorhomes of all types on US roads today, and every year, on average, a motorhome travels 7,500 km in 28 days of travel. Today I will talk about mobile homes, their history, and show you their internal structure. All houses are divided into four large groups- self-propelled, fifth-wheel, bumper-trailer, and stationary (these are installed on top of pickup trucks). In turn, each of the classes includes a lot of subclasses, based on weight, finishing materials, number of axles, length, etc.
This is what a fifth wheel trailer looks like. Almost all of them travel using various pickup trucks. The F150 is the leader among pickup trucks, which is why it is most often featured on camera. Large trailers are no longer feasible for the 1500 series pickups, so they are transported by the “heavy artillery” in the form of the 2500 and 3500 series.
By the way, there are two types of fifth-wheel hitch, articulated (using a trailer like this, it clings to a hinge installed in the back of a pickup truck), and fifth-wheel hitch (a mini version of a regular trailer fifth-wheel hitch, requiring the installation of an additional fifth-wheel hitch in the back of a pickup truck).
Self-propelled houses are more expensive in price, but are better suited for long trips of several months.
Actually, let's go back to history. The first motorhome was made in 1910 by Touring Landau.
This trailer was a small booth on one axle that could be attached to a car. In the booth, like in a carriage, there were two benches, the back bench had a folding back and with a slight movement of the hand turned into a bed, under the front bench there was a toilet and washbasin. No frills, but a house on wheels.
A few years later, several companies at once, noticing the demand for these products, began to manufacture and offer their motorhomes to customers. Note the gas fireplace.
Gradually, cars became more and more reliable and sophisticated, but home designs did not lag behind the design of cars. RV manufacturers tried to take into account all the latest fashion trends and customer desires; today their design does not stand still and keeps up with the times. By the way, the very first club for those who like to travel in motorhomes appeared in 1919 and by 1930 it already numbered more than 150,000 people.
So, let's take a look at a typical self-propelled mobile home made on the basis of the Ford E-250.
Today's mobile homes have absolutely everything: kitchen, shower, toilet, bathroom, washing machine, clothes dryer, sofa, chairs, dinner table, bedroom, TV, microwave, internet and... and this list goes on for a long time. WITH outside there is an awning.
View of the back of the house-bus: toilet, washbasin on the right, shower stall on the left behind the door.
The number of thoughtful little details never ceases to amaze and delight. For example, the sink (by the way, there are two of them, as in all kitchens in the USA) is closed from above, which turns the counter into big table, convenient for cooking. The stove is also closed with a lid. All stoves are gas, with 3-4 burners, with or without an oven; in fact, they are no different from home stoves. Such a house costs $67,950. This is not expensive, for example, a BMW M3 in luxury trim costs the same.
Now we'll go into more luxury house, which is a full-sized bus. This RV will cost you $167,495 and was manufactured in 2011 so is selling at a discount. original price was $182,995.
This bus is assembled on a Ford basis, its length is 12 meters, weight is 16 tons. Installed on it diesel engine Ford Triton V10, with a power of 362 hp, which has a generator to power all communications inside; an additional small gasoline generator is installed, designed for parking without external connection electricity. Such a generator saves the main diesel engine from unnecessary wear, and it is also quieter inside.
View from the driver's seat. On the left there is a full-fledged kitchen, which includes: a microwave with a plate diameter of 80 cm (1000 W), a full-fledged gas stove 3 burners without oven though, double sink with mixer under one of the sinks. On the right is a table for lunch, on the left is a piece of the sofa that is not included in the frame. And, of course, TV, where would we be without it?
Close-up of the kitchen. Here I removed the covers from the stove and sink. There are a bunch of cabinets for dishes and food, all of which are closed using tight springs, so that the cabinet doors will not open spontaneously while moving.
We move on slowly. Behind the kitchen and the so-called dining room there is a passage to the bedroom, in which a double-door refrigerator is hidden to the left from gluttons. He can make ice and has his own filter for water purification.
Behind the refrigerator is the toilet, and behind it is washing machine and a clothes dryer.
Opposite all this there is a shower stall and a washbasin. Well, behind me is the bedroom.
Actually, here it is. Behind the mirror on the left - Walk-in closet. And all around is a kingdom of all sorts of sock cabinets and more.
RV pilot seat. In addition to the main bells and whistles, there is a satellite dish, Internet, cable TV (which can be connected in the parking lot), and many other gadgets that even Maybach would envy.
Most windows and doors have mosquito nets.
Let's take a look inside another "bus". This RV costs $134,495. It is also built on a Ford base, but in principle, everything inside is similar to the previous model.
Kitchen. On the right you can see the air conditioning controller; we can’t do without an air conditioner.
View from the bedroom to the shower stall and sink.
It is worth noting that this width of the interior is achieved due to the “exit” of some parts of the house outside the dimensions when parked. Some units are completely mounted on skids, for example, the entire kitchen, which simply slides to the side. The runners inside the cabin are visible in the previous photographs; the entire side kitchen moves to the side, increasing the space in the hall.
Of course, a scrupulous reader will object that you have to be a millionaire to buy a house for 150 or 200 thousand. I agree, but what do they drive then? ordinary Americans? Let's look at a few budget trailers.
Here, for example, is a bumper-type trailer, two-axle, 10 meters long. Despite the year of manufacture 2006, the house is completely new.
View from the door to the rear. Basically, everything is the same, a little simpler materials finishing, there is no longer luxurious leather on the chairs and tiles on the floor. But there is still a table for dining, beds and a TV. The children's beds in the rear part of the cabin are folded down, and in their place a garage is created, and the rear wall is not a wall at all, but a ramp for the entry of equipment. This mobile garage is designed for 2 ATVs.
And this is a view towards the trailer hitch. Traditional gas stove, sink, it's still double. The two black handles just behind the stove are the refrigerator. Next behind it is a large door - behind it is a washing machine and dryer, and a toilet with a shower stall is through the wall behind the kitchen sink. Well, at the end there is a double bed, immediately to the left in front of it is a washbasin. All the beauty will cost you just $14,495.
Let's look at another option. Also a two-axle trailer, 2008, 8.5 meters, it costs $17,995.
Everything is similar inside, only there is a garage for 4 ATVs. It is also worth noting that any house has an autonomous supply of water, fuel and gas, designed on average for a period of 7 to 40 days. Life support supplies depend on the size of the house.
You can buy a trailer with leather, it doesn’t really affect the cost of the RV - $16,495.
Outside view. 2008, 8.2 meters.
And this bus costs $370,000. It is so cool that it even has a rear view camera, and they are only allowed inside by appointment. Well, no joke, it looks the same as other buses, only larger size And more expensive materials finishing. The cost of some of these houses reaches $1 million.
Do not forget that the comfort of traveling in the USA is provided by thousands of special parking lots (RV parks) for motor homes, where you can connect to an external source of electricity, sewerage, and here you will be refueled with gas, water and fuel.
In addition to ordinary road houses, there are more advanced ones, with the formula 4x4, and even 6x6, but they are very rare and make up less than 1% of all houses. This is due to the fact that most people who like to wallow in the mud prefer to tow a Jeep or several quads in the back, and leave the house in a well-prepared parking lot, because after a day in the mud you still want to return to a cozy home.
