"I he did everything with his own hands and with his team, and does not owe anything to the authorities", the politician said in an interview with Glavred magazine in 2005. Confident, purposeful, powerful - this is all about the man whose name is Arsen Avakov. Biography, nationality, work history, and career of a politician are of interest to many writers and journalists.

Childhood and youth of politics

Arsen Borisovich Avakov was born in 1964, on January 2, into an Armenian family. The birthplace of the future politician is the village named after Kirov, not far from Baku. However, the politician’s family did not live in the capital of Azerbaijan for long, and in 1966 they moved to Ukraine. The family had one child - Arsen Avakov. The politician's parents were not rich. Gabaraeva Tatyana was born and raised in the village of Tilian. According to local residents, Tanya (as she was called in her native village) was strict about raising her son, and it was she who chose his name - Arsen Avakov. The nationality of the politician's mother is Ossetian. Almost nothing is known about Arsen’s father, other than the fact that he was a military man.

Education

He graduated from the Avakov school in Czechoslovakia, in the small town of Mimon. It is noteworthy that Avakov studied at the same school as Vitali Klitschko. In 1988, Arsen graduated from the Kharkov Polytechnic University and was awarded the qualification of a systems engineer. From that time until now, Avakov has been actively engaged in scientific activities. Over the entire period, 12 articles by him and also one monograph were published.

Avakov's work history

Throughout his life, Avakov lived in many cities. So, in 1985 he started his labor activity in Tyumen, where he was at that time. Here he got a job as a construction foreman at Novourengoygazstroy. However, a year later, in 1986, Arsen became the commander of a student construction team.

Later, after graduating from university, Avakov was hired as an engineer at the Kharkov Research Center. Here he was actively involved in science, especially interested in mathematical models.

Avakov worked as an engineer until 1990. At this time, he was able to organize one of the first joint-stock companies in Ukraine. The company was called “Investor”, and Avakov was its president. 2 years later, in 1992 after the collapse Soviet Union Arsen Avakov managed to found the AKB Basis enterprise on the territory of independent Ukraine, which operated successfully until 2012.

Beginning of a career as a politician

Arsen Borisovich began his career in politics in 2002, when he was elected to the Kharkov state council. A couple of years later, thanks to the efforts former president Ukraine, Viktor Yushchenko, appointed a new head of the regional state administration of the city of Kharkov - Arsen Avakov. The politician’s biography suggests that at that moment he renounced the powers of the president of his business units: Investor JSC and Basis OJSC.

However, Avakov did not cope very well with his duties as chairman of the city administration. Less than a year has passed since the politician was severely criticized by the majority in the city’s State Council. There was a lot of talk on this subject, but the fact remains: under Avakov there were many “cons”. Deputies expressed dissatisfaction with rising fuel prices in Kharkov, job cuts at the local tractor plant, and the virtual bankruptcy of an aircraft plant. Thus, in July 2007, the regional council of Kharkov expressed no confidence in Avakov as governor. Arsen tried to challenge this decision in court, but he lost the case.

Despite all the dissatisfaction of the deputies, Avakov was able to retain his post thanks to the personal intervention of Yushchenko.

In 2010, another unpleasant situation happened to Avakov. He was accused of using administrative resources during the presidential elections, which Yanukovych ultimately won. The deputies again expressed their distrust, and Avakov was forced to resign.

Problems with the law

Since 1993, the name of Arsen Avakov has appeared more than once within the walls of Kharkov law enforcement agencies. He was suspected of involvement in several serious crimes, such as:

  • theft in large sizes gas condensate from the Bakakleyskoye field;
  • repeated corruption, misappropriation of funds that did not belong to him.

In addition, in 2005, the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Yuriy Lutsenko, said that Avakov asked in a very rude manner not to touch his guys. This means that the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine should not interfere in the affairs of the governor’s team. According to Lutsenko, the so-called team included many bribe takers.

The most serious charge against Arsen Borisovich was presented in 2012 for malicious abuse of power. At that time, Avakov was put on the wanted list. The Kharkov prosecutor's office nominated Avakov as a defendant for illegally changing the target direction and transferring state land to private ownership. The politician's apartments were repeatedly searched.

Soon Arsen Avakov was put on the international wanted list by Interpol. But at the same time, the leaders of the BYuT-Batkivshchyna and Our Ukraine parties, Andrei Kozhemyakin and Nikolai Martynenko, respectively, turned to this organization. They asked that Ukraine refuse to search for and detain Avakov.

However, despite all efforts, the politician was still detained in the city of Frosinone, Italy. As soon as information about this leaked to the media, Ukraine began to demand extradition, but this was denied. An Italian court detained Avakov for 40 days and then, in April 2012, released him.

The situation around Basis Bank

At a time when Avakov was put on the international wanted list and was hiding in Italy, strange things began to happen to the AKB Basis enterprise. In August 2012, law enforcement agencies opened a criminal case against bank employees for theft of funds. In November of the same year, one of the best employees JSC "Investor" Alexander Motylevsky. He committed suicide, and in his suicide note he expressed bewilderment as to why Avakov “did this way.” The meaning of this expression has never been revealed.

In September 2012, Basis Bank unexpectedly became bankrupt, and the process of liquidating the organization began. Arsen Avakov, who held the post of governor at that time, played an important role in this matter. It was he, his friends and relatives who managed the enterprise in last year existence of the bank. This situation was commented on by many politicians, journalists and Basis employees. However, no one can still fully understand it.

Arrival home and resumption of political career

In the same year, Avakov returned to his homeland, simultaneously receiving a deputy mandate, and with it parliamentary immunity. Avakov was elected to the Parliament of Ukraine from the same “Fatherland”. In 2013/2014, Arsen Avakov was an active participant in the Maidan. After gaining control of the Verkhovna Rada, he was chosen as the new Minister of Internal Affairs. Arsen Avakov distinguished himself by the fact that on the 3rd day of his tenure he decided to disband the special unit “Berkut”.

A month later, another scandal occurred, the main participant of which was Arsen Avakov. A photo of the politician is presented to your attention in the article.

After “Sasha Bely” hit a prosecutor’s office employee, Arsen Avakov threatened to deal with him and called such behavior bestial and insulting. Later, a criminal case was opened against “Bely”, and he himself claimed that they wanted to kill him on the orders of the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs. In March 2014, Muzychko was shot dead during his arrest.

In September of the same year, Avakov became part of the political force of President Poroshenko. In 2016, Yatsenyuk’s cabinet of ministers was dissolved, and Arsen Avakov along with him. The Minister of Internal Affairs was eventually reinstated, but in Groysman’s cabinet.

Scandals involving a politician

In addition to the main scandal with Muzychko, Avakov had other conflicts. Ukrainian journalists were able to prove that the head of the traffic police, Ershov, takes bribes. They conducted their own investigation, during which they found out that Ershov, earning 12,000 UAH. per month, allowed his daughters to spend millions on buying expensive cars, houses, etc. Avakov defended Ershov to the last, even after his personal confession. This could not but arouse suspicion among the media.

The most recent and most discussed scandal occurred in December 2014 between Avakov and Saakashvili. During a meeting of the Reform Council, a conflict between two politicians began, as a result of which the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs threw a glass of water at the governor of Odessa and cursed. Saakashvili, in turn, said that Avakov is a bribe-taker and a thief, and, as is known from catchphrase, the thief should be in prison.

Capital politics

Arsen Avakov was often featured in Focus magazine as one of the richest and most influential people in Ukraine. So, in 2009, his fortune was estimated at 57.5 million dollars, that year he lost more than 300 million. Two years later, in 2012, he took 65th place among the richest people in Ukraine with a capital of 282 million dollars.

Avakov is a football fan, and at the same time, a co-owner of two clubs from Kharkov: “Metalist” and “Kharkov”. In addition, in the Kharkov region, Avakov owns four gas condensate fields, which bring considerable profit.

Charitable activities

Arsen Borisovich is actively involved in charitable activities. Thus, he is a co-founder of some structures involved in donations. The most famous organization is “Star Bridge”, which every year holds various festivals and holidays of fantasy, and in addition, is engaged in publishing literature.

The Renaissance Foundation is also known, thanks to which many charity events and concerts are held annually aimed at the revival of historical and cultural monuments.

Family and personal life of a politician

Arsen Avakov’s family is small, there are only three people in it along with him. Arsen Borisovich's wife Inna Avakova married him in her youth and gave birth to her only son, Alexander. In 1992, the Basis enterprise was created, the founder of which was Arsen Avakov. Deputy Chairman of the Bank's Board from 1994 to 2012 - Inna Avakova. After 18 years of work in this position, she began to have problems with returning funds from deposits of bank clients, as a result of which the management of ABK Basis decided to dismiss Inna Avakova, allowing her to write a statement of her own free will.

The son in the Avakov family was born in 1988, on September 11. Alexander attracted attention to himself during an anti-terrorist operation in the west of the country. This event occurred in 2014, Alexander was 25 years old at that time, and he was not mobilized. This fact caused a storm of indignation among activists, since Avakov himself is an opponent of anti-terrorist organizations. However, soon information appeared that Alexander volunteered for one of the special forces fighting in the Donbass. Later, this information was confirmed, as Avakov’s son posted photographs of him with weapons among the soldiers of one of the battalions.

Minister's hobbies

Avakov is a very versatile person and has many interests and hobbies. Arsen Borisovich is interested in reading fiction, especially in the fantasy genre. Under the leadership of the politician, the Star Bridge fantasy festival was created, which is held every year in hometown Arsen Borisovich - Kharkov. He is on friendly terms with local science fiction writers Dmitry Gromov and Oleg Ladyzhensky. It is noteworthy that these authors publish their creations under one pseudonym - Henry Lyon Oldie.

He considered it no coincidence that the president’s decision to release the governors of the two largest regions, Dnepropetrovsk and Kharkov, on the eve of the second round of presidential elections.

According to Avakov, these decrees were aimed at destabilizing the situation in the regions, in order to provide Tymoshenko’s rival Viktor Yanukovych, in particular in the Kharkov region, with voting results similar to those in 2005. “Slavyansk - Artemovsk is still unsafe. Here and there unexploded mines, mangled equipment, torn high voltage wires, funnels. In the next two days, this will all be a thing of the past - we will put everything in order,” he said.

On the night of July 5, the militants fled from Slavyansk. Some of them went to Gorlovka, some to Donetsk. By Saturday morning, Ukrainian soldiers occupied Slavyansk. The Ukrainian flag was raised over the city hall.

In addition, the Ukrainian flag was raised over the Kramatorsk City Hall. Infrastructure is being restored in Slavyansk and Kramatorsk, food supplies have been established, drinking water and other humanitarian aid to local residents.

One of the main tasks of the new phase of the anti-terrorist operation is the complete closure of the Ukrainian border with Russia.

This was stated by Minister of Internal Affairs Arsen Avakov, Interfax-Ukraine reports. “One of the key tasks of this phase of the ATO is the complete, total closure of the border. Not a fire contact cutoff, but a complete one,” Avakov told reporters on Tuesday in Izyum. He noted that tanks from Russia were able to enter Ukrainian territory precisely because the border was not blocked.

“According to our estimates, there are more than 10 cars in Slavyansk, including cars removed from the pedestal, repaired at one of the factories, as well as cars that crossed the border with Russian Federation, through Izvarino, through Krasnopartizansk. That is why one of the key tasks is to completely close the borders,” Avakov said. Previously, Censor.NET reported that security forces had restored control at the Dolzhansky border checkpoint.

All the promises

August 26, 2014
Well... as the famous character of the Soviet cartoon said - “I have no strength to hold on anymore.” With these words I came to the prime minister yesterday. The struggle between common sense and bureaucrats has been going on for 72 hours and for a very specific reason. Issue of equipment and weapons (including heavy ones) for units of the National Guard and special battalions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, formed from volunteers. “Donbass”, “Dnepr-1”, “Azov”, “Shakhtersk”, “Kyiv-1”, “Kyiv-2” .. - these are all our battalions. There are more than thirty of them - brave guys. Already battle-hardened - worthy of full-fledged weapons!

- I give you 72 hours to complete all formalities and procedures - to release weapons from warehouses to the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the National Guard. What do you not understand, what other command should you give? The Prime Minister gives you a direct command - complete the registration! — Arseniy Yatsenyuk addressed this irritated remark to officials from the Ministry of Economy and the Ministry of Defense three days ago.
- But there are procedures, approvals... at least a couple of weeks, if no questions arise. And they will most likely arise.. - the clerks rustled papers..
And yet we tried - a letter - the Prime Minister's team, the non-resistance of the Minister of Defense, the activity of the Minister of Internal Affairs and the commander of the National Guard... 72 hours have passed. It didn't work. The bureaucratic machine continued to creak, show regulatory documents that everything is being done according to the law and we will continue to formalize it... and the weapons, the weapons were in the same place as they had been for the last 20 years - in warehouses! In warehouses, and not in the hands of Azov fighters who stopped Russian tanks near Novoazovsk yesterday..
I was patient, I was delicate, I tried to be “good”, but it didn’t work. It doesn't work like that!
Came to the prime minister:
- I don’t have the strength to hold on anymore...
— Couldn’t get it?
-No
— And even grenade launchers?
- No. We don’t need Putin, we will defeat ourselves this way.. Bureaucracy and old procedures are stronger than the prime minister and minister..
- No, not stronger. ************ End of the ceremonies. War. I convene the government.

At 14.30 the Cabinet of Ministers was urgently convened. The resolution “Issues of the seizure and transfer of weapons, military equipment and other military property” was adopted. Direct procedure for obtaining weapons at the request of the Minister of Internal Affairs, among other things. The party of bureaucrats in the Cabinet of Ministers was completely defeated - Arseniy did not allow objections, references to the RNBO, etc.. Thanks to the supporting ministers!

At 19.30 we were already processing the shipment of tanks for the National Guard to the combat zone for the morning..

By the age of 20, Anton Gerashchenko completed the formalities for the transfer of ZU-23 guns in Mariupol for the National Guard and Azov..

It seems to have worked.
Overcome yourself, your archaism. Ask why they waited and only now? As I already said - no delicacy - nothing personal - we have guys there with two RPGs for 3 tanks... Because we have more eccentrics with the letter M and reinsurers in the long corridors of power than you can imagine... But is it only in structures of power.
And it’s okay, we’ll fight and break through! The main thing is to do what you have to do. What would everyone do!
Tomorrow - all attention to anti-tank weapons. We process it, pick it up from warehouses, and ship it. Up to 48 hours.
So that not a single piece of trash doubts that crossing the border of Ukraine on a tank or armored personnel carrier will get a big bang!..

Ilovaisk. Fight for liberation. Semyon Semenchenko, commander of the Donbass National Guard battalion, who has been on the front line for the second day, received shrapnel wounds. In the advanced attack group clearing terrorists from Ilovaisk, they ran into mortar fire. They held out, but the attack was not curtailed. Among ours, one soldier died and four were wounded. Including Semyon who was wounded. Multiple fragmentation. They took everyone from the battlefield to the hospital. Preliminarily, the lives of the wounded are not in danger.

We are sending the guys a reserve to help. Let's keep our fingers crossed! Glory to the brave warriors!

Another information flow has begun, from the half-forgotten right sector - this time they came up with an “ultimatum to the President.” There is a smell of elections... Yes, and attention needs to be switched... Or maybe Yarosh should still answer for those 32 people who, due to the stupidity of his command, carelessly drove into a post near Donetsk and were killed and captured? Maybe stop building a mythical legend on blood and grief?

Maybe he will finally tell where these mythical “our units from the front” are and what logic and plan they serve in the war? Can he at least tell me where these parts are that no one has really seen except in photos and videos? So that at least sometimes they were seen not by military staff officers, but by real combat commanders of real battalions? Maybe stop playing Robin Hood - stupidly exposing those who believe you, Yarosh, to real patriots for the sake of your patriotic snobbery?!

PR is larger than life, the pose is even larger... Yarosh, Yarosh - your problem is that with your buffoonery of a brutal patriot you are deceiving many people who followed you into essentially illegal armed groups - without rules and foundations, without laws and order. Essentially, turning the people who believed you into meaningless cannon fodder of disorganization... And no war will justify this... And this is not your personal business. It’s not for you to decide the destinies of people in such a way... And no war justifies this. On the contrary, the war burdens your position...

And a few words about the “arbitrariness of the cops” - a few days ago, at the entrance to Lviv, a group of people without documents was detained, introducing themselves as “right sector from the front.” In the trunk of two cars there were three grenade launchers, five machine guns, pistols, rifles , grenades f1..total 24 types of weapons and ammunition. All without documents and not legal... Let them import?!! Let them then shoot from a grenade launcher at the mayor of Lvov, Sadovoy, as was the case a couple of weeks ago? Is this what the public and the country want? Is this the order Yarosh wants in the country? Then he really needs to attack the Minister of Internal Affairs. Because I don't accept this. ….In the most difficult moments, over the last 5 months of the country’s life, how a problem is deliberately thrown in… so convenient for the Russian media, so frightening and the heads of people from the east of the country so filled with Russian TV propaganda.. From oblivion, “cache”, “patriotic” underground" the PS pops up - throws in another statement or action - playing along with Moscow propaganda, scaring people in the east with its stupid actions.. Volens-nevolens is forced to ask: Who are you working for Yarosh? Or are you just not on friendly terms with your head? ...And you don’t need to tell me about Grushevsky and Institutskaya - I was there, I was there all the time - and I know the truth about the real heroes..

p/s – as for the “demand” of the PS to fire First Deputy Minister Evdokimov. PR again? Did you find out that the document for Evdokimov’s resignation was sent two weeks ago to the Cabinet of Ministers for a decision and vote and started doing PR? Showmanship, not a position - but a pose...
