Alcohol burner from a coffee can. Homemade alcohol burner made from beer cans. Can burner

Simple easy You can make a spirit lamp with your own hands from ordinary beer cans. If you don't like beer, then Coca-Cola cans or any other cans are quite suitable. The main thing is that they are aluminum!

To make such a burner you will need a couple of cans, a stationery needle, glass wool (ordinary wool is fine, but with glass wool it will last forever), scissors and a book. You can make a stand for a saucepan from wire or an old metal hanger, but on a hike it’s easier to use improvised objects - a couple of stones or just make a small trench for an alcohol lamp.

However, let's return to how to make a homemade alcohol burner.

After all the tools have been collected, you can begin the process of making a spirit lamp.

To begin with, mark a straight line around the circumference of the jar. The easiest way to do this is to place the marker on the book and press it with one hand, while rotating the jar with the other.

This is how we mark both banks.

Now carefully cut around the circumference. You can use ordinary stationery scissors; the sheet metal is soft and can be easily cut with any scissors.

The result is two bottoms.

The lower part can be processed using a multitool, this will allow you to easily insert the upper cover on top of the lower one.

We put glass wool in the lower part, place it with a small “slide”, so that it tightly fills the entire cavity homemade alcohol lamp. Glass wool is preferable because it is not subject to combustion and does not deteriorate from heat. Glass is very refractory, and glass wool is just a lump of thin glass threads.

We close our homemade alcohol lamp and use a needle to make holes.

The more holes and the wider the holes, the higher the combustion temperature will be. You can make 5 holes in the center for filling flammable liquid without disassembling the burner.

The entire process of making a homemade alcohol lamp can be seen in the video below.

In terms of “power,” a homemade alcohol burner is comparable to purchased multi-fuel burners.

Half a liter of water in the pot boils in 8 minutes. 40 ml of alcohol is enough for 25 minutes of burning. Half a liter of flammable liquid is enough for a week-long hike for 2 people, provided they have 3 meals a day.

Before starting, you don’t have to preheat the burner - just splash a little on the karaya and set it on fire, the alcohol burner will immediately warm up and the alcohol vapor will begin to actively evaporate and burn. Such a burner operates on the fact of expansion and evaporation of a flammable liquid at an elevated temperature.

As you can see, the burner turned out to be small and very efficient. It differs from purchased mixed fuel burners primarily in its small dimensions and, accordingly, light weight. In addition, it is easy to build from improvised means using only a multitool.

Tiger comments:

It turned out to be an interesting burner, small and light. It’s true that carrying denatured alcohol or white spirit with you in a bottle is inconvenient; it’s easier to just collect dry fuel.

Ivan comments:

Simple, cheap, practical... This burner will come in handy when fishing. Lightweight, doesn't take up a lot of space.

GOLDEN EAGLE

Today, many men are interested in blacksmithing. Indeed, the beauty of red-hot metal, which becomes beautiful before our eyes forged product simply mesmerizing. A homemade forge can be either a large stationary or a compact desktop one. Craftsmen with extensive experience work with traditional designs. And among amateurs the most popular are compact homemade horns, which are very easy to do yourself.

Compact and simple forge for forging metal products can be made from the most ordinary tin can and plaster. Such homemade device– this is simply an irreplaceable thing in the workshop. After all, every amateur craftsman has to heat and forge various parts and tools. A mini-forge at home will help out at any time, plus it’s not difficult to make a forge with your own hands. Assembly will require materials that are always on hand.

Equipment required for operation:

  • tin can (it should have a large volume of about a liter);
  • block of wood;
  • steel tube (diameter from 11 to 12 mm, and length 50 mm);
  • a pair of steel corners;
  • several wood screws (6 or 7 cm);
  • several screws and nuts small size, they are needed to fasten the can to the corners;
  • sand and building plaster;
  • gas burner;
  • glasses to protect the eyes;
  • fire extinguisher (it is prepared for safety reasons).

Manufacturing sequence:

  • A hole is made in the side wall of the tin can for the prepared steel trim. This is done at a distance of approximately 4.5 mm. WITH reverse side the cans need to be drilled two holes (they are needed for the mounting screws).
  • A wooden board will serve as the base for the forge; the corners are attached to it with self-tapping screws. They are screwed in accordance with the holes made on the can. Next, taking screws and nuts, screw on the tin can.
  • The next step is applying a layer of gypsum thermal insulation. This solution hardens instantly. Therefore everything necessary tools should be prepared in advance (this is a tube, spoon, water and the rest).
  • A tube (approximately 4 cm in diameter) is rolled up from thick cardboard and placed in the center of the jar. They insert it closely steel tube through the prepared hole. To make it easier to pull out in the future, it is recommended to wrap it in wax paper.
  • Now you can start mixing the solution. Sand and gypsum are mixed in a one to one ratio. Sand must be taken clean and without impurities. By adding water, the mixture is brought to the consistency of thick sour cream.

If possible, you can add fireclay or asbestos. These fire-resistant materials are allowed to replace 1/2 of the sand used. But, if they are not there, then they can do without it.

  • A gypsum-sand solution is tightly placed in the free space between the walls and the cardboard insert (you can use a plastic spoon for this). When doing this, you need to remember that this mixture sets in a matter of minutes. After the container is filled, you need to remove the solution from the hole on the side tube.
  • After 30 minutes, you can remove the tube.

Calcination of the forge

To completely remove moisture from a newly manufactured device, experts recommend calcining the forge. A simple gas burner is used as a fire source; it can be easily found in any hardware store. The nozzle of the switched-on burner is inserted into a tube placed on the side and heated until the device turns red from incandescence. This drying takes no more than 10-15 minutes. It is better to ignite a gas wick in the socket blowtorch, it's not that dangerous.

The productivity of such equipment is not very high, and without a brick plug homemade mechanism used wastefully. And with such a plug, the heating speed of the mini-forge increases significantly.

Don't forget that homemade horn is a highly dangerous item. It should not be left unattended while it is burning.

This completes the process of creating a household mini-forge. Now it can be tested in action. Using a homemade forge for smelting metal parts and subsequent casting, for forging in home workshops, and for smelting small glass products. By carefully following the above recommendations, anyone can build such a structure. And having learned to work with such a device, you can begin to create more complex mechanisms.

From just two aluminum cans you can make a simple and reliable burner that will help out both tourists and hunters. Unlike store-bought burners, it is small in size and light in weight. In addition, it can be made from available materials.

In order to make a burner from a beer can we will need:

  • Two half-liter aluminum beer cans;
  • Stationery knife or scissors;
  • Awl;
  • Sandpaper;

First you need to clean the bottom of the cans of paint using sandpaper. If the paint is not cleaned off, it will continue to smoke and melt.

It should look something like this:

Now you need to cut off the bottom of the cans, about 3 centimeters high. You can do this using a utility knife (after securing it in a vice so that the cutting level is at the same height) or scissors. We clean the edges with sandpaper to get rid of burrs.

We ended up with two identical aluminum cups. Now we will need to insert these cups into each other.

This may be a little difficult. The fact is that they are the same diameter, and although aluminum is soft material and may be deformed, but you need to try. The easiest way to do this is to put one cut bottom on a whole beer can, causing it to expand a little, and then insert the second part.

In the center of our burner from beer cans we will need to make several holes through which we will pour alcohol (you can get by with one large one - about 3 mm). It will also act as an overpressure valve and prevent damage to the burner. We make about 20 holes along the perimeter at an equal distance, through which ignited alcohol vapor will escape.

The beer can burner is ready:

Starting the burner
Pour about 30 ml of alcohol inside and close the central holes with a coin. If excess pressure forms inside, it will flip the coin and the burner will not explode.

After briefly holding the burner over a lit match (this is necessary so that the alcohol begins to evaporate), we light it and enjoy the result.

Here's a short video:

Important:

  1. Alcohol is a flammable liquid, be careful and follow safety precautions.
  2. The burner body heats up.
  3. Do not put any flammable substances other than alcohol into the burner.
  4. Do not fill the burner completely with alcohol - it may explode.

With this burner you can easily boil half a liter of water in 7-10 minutes. 30 ml of alcohol burns for about 20 minutes. Ideal for a tourist or hunter to make tea or pour boiling water over noodles.

In just a few minutes, you can make an excellent alcohol burner from several aluminum cans, which will help you out both on a camping trip and if your gas suddenly turns off.

There are quite a lot of options. In our case, we will need 3 aluminum cans with our favorite drink, and one should not be open.

Step 1. We open two cans and mercilessly drink the contents.

Step 2. We cut off the bottom part of the cans: the first can is 20 mm high, the second can is 30 mm high. To ensure an even cut, you can use the design shown in the figure.

Step 3. To connect both bottom parts, one of them will have to be slightly expanded. To do this you will need a third unopened jar. It is necessary to insert the jar into the smaller bottom part and, pressing, put it on the bottom of the jar.

Step 4. A hole >3mm in diameter must be drilled in the center of the 30mm section of the burner. Fuel will be poured into it, and it will also serve to release excess pressure, which can damage the burner. This hole can be replaced with several smaller ones by piercing the jar in this place with an awl.

Step 5. Now you can combine both halves of the burner by placing the previously expanded lower part on the upper half.

Step 6. In practice finished burner It is necessary to make holes along the circumference with an awl to allow flammable gases to escape. Now the burner is ready.

Starting the burner

Pour about 30 ml of alcohol into the burner through the hole in the center and cover the hole with a coin. If it forms inside high blood pressure, it will simply flip a coin and your burner will not explode.

In order for the burner to work, it must be preheated. The best way- place the burner on a tray (for example, a lid from a tin can), drop a few drops of alcohol onto the tray and set it on fire. After heating, the alcohol inside the burner will begin to evaporate intensively and, leaving the nozzles, will create an even flame.

An alcohol burner can be useful on a camping trip, at the dacha, or at home if the gas and electricity suddenly go out.

For production we will need:
1. Aluminum can for beer or other drinks.
2. Coin or round metal plate, diameter - 25-35 mm, thickness - 1-3 mm.
3. Saucer (plate, lid, tin can with a low side) made of ceramics, glass or metal.
4. Alcohol - 80%.

Tools:
1. Knife with a sharp point on the blade (I used a Swiss knife, the handle added 1.2cm height, can be replaced with a utility knife blade, increasing the thickness of the lining)
2. Shilo
3. Wood lining, thickness - 2 cm
4. Rubber lining, thickness - 0.8 cm

Manufacturing:
1. The lower part of the burner is made from the bottom of the jar.
Place the jar and linings on one flat plane and make a cut with the edge of a knife on the bottom of the jar, height - 4 cm. After piercing the wall of the jar at the place of the cut, press it with your fingers most of banks. Knead the upper part of the edge of the resulting workpiece, 0.8 - 1 cm high, inward with uniform folds around the circumference.

2. Upper part The burner is made from a part with a lid.
Turn the jar upside down and make a 3.2 cm high cut and press the rest of the jar down with your fingers.

3. Connect the upper and lower parts so that their planes are parallel. Along the outer circumference of the lid, at a distance of 5-6 mm from the edge, evenly pierce small holes with a diameter of 2-3 mm with an awl. The distance between the holes is 7-8 mm.

Burner usage:
Place the burner in a saucer, pour 50 ml of alcohol into the burner and a little into the saucer. Cover the hole with a coin. Pour some alcohol onto the lid and set it on fire, also set fire to the alcohol in the saucer to heat up the alcohol vapor. When the burner starts working (this will be visible from the flames emerging from the pierced holes), place a container of water.
