Back in 1914, a small brochure with a circulation of 100 copies was published in St. Petersburg under the intriguing title “The Power of Names (Strange...) About the influence of a name on a person’s destiny.” Its author, S.R. Mintslov writes: “Among the vague mysteries that the human mind stumbles upon is the influence of his name on the moral character and fate of a person. Why does it exist - to this question...

ALEXANDRA. Help, reliable (Greek). Lively. Restless and tireless. Always there. Usually the character is similar to that of a man. Life path: “tomboy” - “business woman”. She is so active in society and family that, alas, she does not always have enough strength for tenderness. ALLA. Another (Gothic). Bright, “invincible”. Not like everyone else. Energetic. Aiming upward, inspiring and rallying. Catchy, beautiful, does not spare men. Marriage, however...

Caring parents put their whole soul into choosing a name for their child, but children grow up and do not always share the taste of their father and mother. There are many more adults who are dissatisfied with their names than it seems, and even if a person does not openly talk about it, he experiences a certain discomfort, and this is not in the best possible way affects his self-esteem. Psychologists rightly claim that a name influences a person’s character, and numerologists make worthy arguments proving the connection between name and destiny. We invite you to learn about the most key points, which you need to pay attention to when choosing a name for your child.

Full and short name

How more options can be converted from the full name, the greater the chance that among them there will be at least one who will suit the child in the future. For example, female name Daria in the abbreviated version sounds only like Dasha, while Lyudmila can be called Lyuda, Lyusya or Mila. There are names that are not abbreviated at all, for example, Karina, Kira or Zoya, and in this case parents can only hope for luck. However, there are situations when a girl who is dissatisfied with her name chooses a variant of a consonant name, for example, when Lena prefers to be called Alena, Oksana - Ksyusha, Veronica - Vera, and Diana - Dina or Dana. In such situations, changing the version of the shortened name will affect the character only with positive side, because a person will feel more comfortable and appreciate the fact that his opinion is taken into account, and passport data will only matter when processing documents.

Repetition of names in the family

A couple of centuries ago, people seriously believed that if there are two people in a family with the same names, they have one guardian angel for both of them, and therefore cannot properly protect both. Let's leave prejudices and folk signs to those who believe in them, and let's talk about real facts.

By naming a boy after his father or grandfather, the mother definitely wants him to inherit the best traits of his character. As the child grows up, he will involuntarily begin to compare himself with this person, and if he really is an authority for him, he will look up to him. A worthy example to follow is a good thing, but even here unforeseen difficulties may arise. For example, the one after whom the child was named has a strong-willed character or extraordinary talent, but you cannot argue with the natural type of temperament and creative abilities. For this reason, many children do not perceive themselves as an independent person and try to jump over their heads in an area that they are not only not interested in, but also do not need. An indecisive boy may begin to have a complex compared to his confident and successful grandfather, and a girl with an ordinary appearance cannot help but compare herself with a bright and attractive relative just because they have the same name. The child understands that if he was named after another person, then that person deserves admiration, and therefore tries to be like him. For the most part, the subconscious is at work here, because we hear our name countless times a day. In this situation, a name can really affect a person’s character and lifestyle, and therefore his destiny.

Foreign names

When choosing a foreign name for a child, you need to clarify its sound in full, and it is advisable to find out about its meaning in translation in order to save the child from unnecessary complexes. If previously children were named mainly according to the calendar, now there are no restrictions in choosing a name for a child. Nowadays, no one will be surprised by a girl whose parents named Lolita or Juliet, despite the fact that in full the names sound like Dolores and Julia. However, in a number of countries no one has been paying attention to this for a long time, but it is one thing when the child’s parents consciously made such a decision, and quite another when the name was spelled incorrectly out of ignorance. Psychologically, this will be perceived differently and will not increase self-confidence.

First and last name

When choosing a name for a boy, people often think about its combination with a surname. Wanting to name a child with a French name, and at the same time having a Ukrainian surname, most people choose more suitable option. According to statistics, girls are called 2 times more often unusual names, and at the same time, parents are not stopped by the fact that the name, although beautiful, does not sound good in combination with the surname. Of course, after marriage, most girls take their husband’s surname, but this will happen later, and during school years, because of the ridiculous combination of first and last names, many have to endure ridicule from classmates.

There are also options for unsuccessful sound combinations, when the end of the name mirrors the beginning of the surname, for example, Egor Romanov. This variant of the first and last name will make even a person with perfect diction periodically stumble.

First and patronymic

The unpronounceable combination of first and middle names is common, but it is not surprising if both names are popular in the same area. The name itself may sound very beautiful, but if it is completely incompatible with the surname and patronymic, the child is unlikely to feel comfortable.

When choosing a name for a boy, it is important to take into account the possibility of forming a patronymic from him in the future, and here, by and large, we are again talking about foreign names.

Name compatibility

Compatible names

There is a theory according to which a friendly relationship is established between two people if their names are combined according to the following principle:

  • Same ending. What is important is the ending not of the full name, but of the abbreviated version that is used to call a person, for example, Sasha and Masha, Yulia and Kolya, Tanya and Vanya;
  • Stressed letter match. Again, we are talking about a combination of abbreviated names, for example, Artyom and Alena, Ira and Vitya, Olya and Anton;
  • Complete match of vowels in the name. Example: Pasha and Dasha, Kolya and Olya, Vasya and Tanya;
  • Match three or more letters in the name, as in the names Lilya and Ilya, Kostya and Nastya, Maxim and Ksyusha.

It is believed that similar combinations of names are found among people with similar temperament and attitude to life.

Incompatible names

The following signs indicate poor name compatibility:

  • Not a single matching letter. Example: Rita and Lenya, Timur and Masha, Oleg and Anya, Egor and Alina;
  • The letter "R" in both names. People with this letter in their name have a pronounced temperament, so relationships can be bright, but they are unlikely to be cloudless. Bad combinations include even consonant names when other letters coincide, for example, Arina and Ruslan, Tamara and Roman, Vera and Arthur;
  • Same names. When it comes to friendships or business relationships, people with the same names have similar personalities and get along well, which is not the case with family life. Example: Alexandra and Alexander, Victoria and Victor, Evgenia and Evgeniy, Anton and Antonina, Yaroslav and Yaroslava.

Name and numerology

Numerologists say that the name affects not only the character, but also the destiny of a person, and to find out exact value name, you need to calculate its number. Each letter in the name corresponds to a specific number from 1 to 9, as in this table. Add together all the numbers corresponding to the letters - you should get a two-digit number. If both digits of this number again add up to a number greater than 9, continue adding the digits together until you get a single digit number.

Table: Numerology of names

For example, the number of the name Mikhail is calculated as follows:

  • M - 5;
  • I - 1;
  • X - 5;
  • A - 1;
  • I - 1;
  • L - 4.

M+I+X+A+I+L = 5+1+5+1+1+4=17 = 1+7 = 8

NATA KARLIN

Every person has ever thought about their name. We receive it with birth, and this short and succinct word colors the faceless pronoun “I” with shades of our character, the nuances of life and the consciousness that the name and essence of a person are inseparably linked. You probably noticed that the name you heard evokes certain associations in you. Without knowing the person, but knowing his name, you subconsciously draw an image of someone you have never seen. Subsequently, when you meet, you note those character traits and appearance that coincided with your assumptions, and those that did not coincide. As a rule, there are more coincidences. This suggests that people with the same names are similar to each other in many ways. What is this? Coincidence or is there really a consistent relationship?

Those who are a little interested in esotericism know very well that the name carries hidden meaning, information and secret forces that influence fate, actions, etc. That's why parents choose their baby's name so carefully.

The fate of a person is dependent on the name

There are three interconnected things that determine human existence:

  1. fate;
  2. character.

Our ancestors claimed this, and we do not refuse. The word “fate” itself comes from the phrase “given name.” It comes from Ancient language Sumerian. Sorcerers and magicians Ancient Rome They believed that by writing a person's name upside down and backwards, you could write it completely.

Such close attention to the name gave rise to superstitions and customs when people hid their true name from others. They were afraid of spells and conspiracies, which could only be carried out if the person’s true name was known. At the same time, it was believed that such rituals have a strong negative effect and ruin a person’s life. IN Ancient Egypt each person was given a true name, which few people knew, and a “second” name. He used the second one to communicate with people; everyone knew him. In Russia, the real name was given when a child was baptized. His parents kept it a secret for a long time to protect the baby from spirits. They tried to deceive the same entities, and in the same way, in Azerbaijan.

In the eighties of the last century, American psychiatrists conducted a study, which found that people with names strange for a given area are susceptible to more mental disorders, unlike those who go by traditional names. Such complexes develop in childhood. The child has to take a defensive position in order to protect himself from the ridicule and ridicule of his peers about his name. In parallel, an analysis was carried out of the performance of children with different names. It turned out that teachers traditionally give high grades to students with certain names, and low grades to a different group of names. Girls with beautiful and sonorous names do not have a business streak and do not strive for routine and tedious work; they find themselves in art and show business.

The Englishman T. Weston came up with the definition that the letters of the last third of the alphabet (with which people's names begin) negatively affect their health in the future.

So are names really so closely connected with destinies? What explains the mysterious connection between a person's name and his future?

The meaning of the name and the character of a person: theories

Social.

Social theory suggests that a person’s name is an energy clot that provides information about the bearer. Natalya, Alexander, Magomed, Fatima, Bill, Carolina... The origin and affiliation of nationality and religion can be determined by these names. In most cases, the general opinion is correct. But the bearers of these names are different, and their fates are sometimes very different. However, people with the same names have common ones.

Psychological images of the name are collected and systematized by psychologists and isotericists. The group of people who fit the research parameters includes a group of men and women from 18 to 35 years old. Subjects answered questions about names. That is, they were asked to make a psychological portrait of a person with a specific name, but not an acquaintance.

Despite the fact that the people who participated in the test were far from having a psychological education, it was not difficult for them to construct psychological images of people with different names. This once again suggests that the image of a person is associated among others with a certain psychotype, endowed only to him characteristic features, and features.

Emotional.

At the emotional level, a person’s name is perceived from the point of view of what emotions it evokes when heard. Some names sound lyrical and soft, they envelop you with their rumbling and evoke feelings of bliss and peace. Other names are filled with harsh sounds that make you shrink and freeze inside. This phenomenon is also called “name music.” The initial impression of its bearer and the attitude of others towards him depends on how the name sounds. At the same time, a person’s character undergoes changes. Seeing in their address caused by the sounds of the name, people change, becoming tough and unsociable.

Sound.

Each word is a complex of corresponding sounds, different in pitch and timbre. The first thing a child hears when adults address him is his name. These sounds are clearly recorded by a person’s subconscious, programming his future destiny. Vibrations caused by the sounds of the name excite the corresponding areas of the cerebral cortex. The formation of a person’s character depends on what program is laid by these impulses. In boys with the simple Russian names “Vasya” and “Kolya,” completely opposite structures of brain regions are excited. The different sound load on the brain formations is the determining factor in the formation of a person’s character.

The Kharkov self-taught inventor found confirmation of the sound theory of the influence of a name on changes occurring in environment. He created a device that includes a microphone and a membrane with a thin layer of magnetic powder sprinkled on it. He experimentally established that sound vibrations from a name spoken into a microphone cause the powder to create a specific pattern on the surface of the membrane. Moreover, for each individual name it is the same, but for different names it is different.

Scientists were able to establish such a dependence through mass surveys of people on the street. Only one question was asked - what color do you associate your Name with? The analysis of the responses showed that the relationship is as follows:

  • Tatyana – shades of red or close to rich pink;
  • Elena – colors close to blue or blue-blue.

These are just two examples of how a person's name can be associated with a color. So, psychologists consider red a symbol of danger, tension and anxiety, and blue – calm and relaxation. From this we can conclude that Tatiana is a powerful, unrestrained and rude person who tries to subjugate those around him and achieve obedience from everyone. Elenas, for the most part, are gentle, romantic and quiet women. Suppose that the sounds of the name “Tatyana” contain those notes that cause wariness and denial among others, forcing girls from the moment of birth to “take a defensive position.” This develops similar character traits in them. The name “Elena”, which evokes positive emotions and peace, on the contrary, evokes a tender and reverent attitude towards the girl, as a result of which a gentle and sweet creature grows up.

The direct connection between a person’s fate, his character and name has been proven long ago. At the same time, it is impossible to say that this name can radically affect changes in a person’s character. It can be assumed that names emphasize (strengthen or weaken) personality traits, making them expressive and clear. Some people have experience changing their name. They claim that after this they experienced dramatic changes in their lives. Their character revealed qualities that had previously been in a “dormant”, “sleepy” state. The name does not predetermine fate and life path people, it only brings some qualities to the fore, leaving others behind the scenes. There is no need to blame the name given to you at birth for your mistakes and mistakes. The temptation to find the “extreme” is great, but you shouldn’t do it.

But this does not mean that the baby named Victor will necessarily grow into a winner. Great value has a person’s date of birth, the environment in which he was born, grew up and lives, upbringing and level of education. However, choosing a name for a future person is an important task that faces all parents.

Psychologist and writer Boris Khigir, who has been studying the influence of a name on character and destiny for more than 30 years, knows for sure which names should not be given to babies.

When a child is born to happy parents, the first question from friends is “Boy or girl?”, and the second is always “What was the name?” Apparently, not only out of curiosity. We intuitively understand how much a name means in a person’s life. But psychologist and writer Boris Khigir, who has been studying the influence of a name on character and destiny for more than 30 years, knows for sure which names should not be given to babies.

- Boris Yuzikovich, what names are the happiest, healthiest, sexiest?

B.H.: - There are no unlucky names. They just affect people differently. And this largely depends on the patronymic. Dmitrievich, Nikolaevich, Semenovich, Igorevich, Konstantinovich betray a complex character. Let's say Nikolai Igorevich is not a very good combination. This person is most likely quick-tempered and difficult to negotiate with. Ideal option- Vladimirovich. Almost any name is suitable for such a patronymic. It makes it easier to achieve what you want. In second place are Sergeevichs, Mikhailovichs, Petrovichs, Pavlovichs. According to my observations, Alexandra and Alexei are more likely to get sick in childhood, usually with respiratory diseases. The sexiest names are Natalya, Eduard, Vladimir, Victor, Sergey.

- They say that people with names with one or two “l” - Julia, Alla - are still happier than others.

B.H.: - This is wrong. Happiness depends on the compatibility of the first name and patronymic. However, I have found that names with one and especially two “r”s contribute to the formation of the most unpredictable character.

- How do you explain that a name influences character and destiny?

B.H.: - When a name is pronounced - and this is done dozens of times a day - the sound affects the brain and affects mental health. And one name helps and calms someone, but acts as an irritant on another. I observed a lot and collected statistical data. Look at ten Viktor Alexandrovichs, and you will notice that they are somewhat similar. Most Ediks are jokers and are loved by girls. History also provides a lot of evidence of the power of a name over a person’s fate. Many peoples, including Russia, had the custom of giving a child two names, and hiding the main one received at baptism in order to deceive the forces of evil. In Ancient Israel, the name given at birth was changed several times - when the child began to walk, before and after school, after marriage, so that it would help him at each new stage of life. English therapists discovered that people with strange names often suffer from complexes and mental disorders. Americans have noticed that guys named Rocky and Chuck more often become boxers and football players.

Chizhikovs have it easier

- What can you say about last names?

B.H.: - Surnames derived from the names of predatory animals introduce traits of cruelty into the character. People around them react more positively to birds and fish like Vorobyovs, Chizhikovs, Karasevs, so life is easier for them. There are criminal surnames; their bearers are often at odds with the law. These include the Novikovs. Not all, of course...

- Is the artist’s pseudonym also important?

B.H.: - Certainly! The director of the recent TV series “School”, Valeria Gai Germanika, in my opinion, chose the wrong pseudonym. That's why bad things happen to her. Recently they said that she was hospitalized.

- How to choose a name for a child?

B.H.: - It is necessary to proceed from the consonance of the name with the patronymic and from the month of birth. December and February children are stubborn and restless, especially Igorevichs, Olegovichs, Dmitrieviches - they need to be given names that soften their temperament: Alexey, Mikhail, Sergey, Andrey. March people are vulnerable, sensitive, squeamish. Dmitry, Igor, Konstantin are suitable for them. Those born in summer can be called Edwards, Stanislavs, Olegs. But don’t name your child after the father who died in a relative’s accident. People with the same first and middle names have a higher risk of suffering from an accident.

US President John Kennedy gave his son given name, and he died. The life of director and actor Sergei Bodrov Jr. ended tragically. The examples can be continued. It is not advisable to give it to girls male names. Otherwise they grow up rough. I am also against abbreviated names. Don’t call your son Vladimir Vovka, it’s better to call him Volodya.

Nana instead of Dasha

- If you change your name, will life get better?

B.H.: - In my practice there are many such stories. One day they brought in a 5-year-old girl, Daria Konstantinovna, named after her great-grandmother. The parents complained: their daughter was very nervous and fought with other children. When she was given a new name, Nana, she was transformed - she became calm and kind. Another client, Yuri Alekseevich, suffered from cataracts and could not get married. I chose the name Igor for him, and he decided to have an operation that restored his sight, and started a family. I suggested the name Esmeralda to the young woman Irina, who was unlucky with suitors and work. Now her life has improved. But you need to change your name for real, according to your passport.

- They say you also identified criminals by name?

B.H.: - One day, a large banker asked for help in investigating a missing large amount. They suspected their own people. Based on the list of employees, I identified people prone to scams. And my assumptions were later confirmed. According to psychologists of the Moscow Regional Department of Internal Affairs, my descriptions of the characters of potential criminals by name were correct with an accuracy of 70-90%.

- A person finds out that his name is unfortunate, so what should he change right away?

B.H.: - You can change it, or you can understand your shortcomings and learn to deal with them.
