Herbal decoctions for plant nutrition. Herbal infusion for plant nutrition: how to make fertilizer. Factors affecting cooking time

Astrakhan tomatoes ripen remarkably lying on the ground, but you should not repeat this experience in the Moscow region. Our tomatoes need support, support, a garter. My neighbors use all sorts of pegs, garters, loops, ready-made plant supports, and mesh fences. Each method of fixing the plant in an upright position has its own advantages and "side effects". I'll tell you how I place tomato bushes on trellises, and what comes of it.

Flies are a sign of unsanitary conditions and carriers of infectious diseases that are dangerous for both humans and animals. People are constantly looking for ways to get rid of nasty insects. In this article, we will talk about the Zlobny TED brand, which specializes in fly protection products and knows a lot about them. The manufacturer has developed a specialized line of drugs to get rid of flying insects anywhere quickly, safely and without extra costs.

The summer months are the time for hydrangeas to bloom. This beautiful deciduous shrub is luxuriously fragrant with flowers from June to September. Florists willingly use large inflorescences for wedding decors and bouquets. To admire the beauty of a flowering hydrangea bush in your garden, you should take care of the proper conditions for it. Unfortunately, some hydrangeas do not bloom year after year, despite the care and efforts of gardeners. Why this happens, we will tell in the article.

Every summer resident knows that plants need nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium for full development. These are the three main macronutrients, the deficiency of which significantly affects the appearance and yield of plants, and in advanced cases can lead to their death. But at the same time, not everyone understands the importance of other macro- and microelements for plant health. And they are important not only in themselves, but also for the effective absorption of the same nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium.

Garden strawberries, or strawberries, as we used to call them, are one of the early fragrant berries that summer generously endows us with. How we rejoice in this harvest! In order for the "berry boom" to repeat every year, we need to take care of the care of the berry bushes in the summer (after the end of fruiting). The laying of flower buds, from which ovaries will form in spring, and berries in summer, begins approximately 30 days after the end of fruiting.

Spicy pickled watermelon is a savory snack for fatty meat. Watermelons and watermelon rinds have been pickled since time immemorial, but the process is laborious and time consuming. According to my recipe, it’s easy to cook pickled watermelon in 10 minutes, and a spicy snack will be ready by the evening. The watermelon marinated with spices and chili is stored in the refrigerator for several days. Be sure to keep the jar in the refrigerator, not only for the sake of preservation - chilled, this snack is just licking your fingers!

Among the variety of species and hybrids of philodendrons, there are many plants, both gigantic and compact. But not a single species competes in unpretentiousness with the main modest - blushing philodendron. True, his modesty does not concern the appearance of the plant. Reddening stems and cuttings, huge leaves, long shoots, forming, although very large, but also strikingly elegant silhouette, look very elegant. Philodendron blushing requires only one thing - at least minimal care.

Thick Chickpea Soup with Vegetables and Egg is an easy recipe for a hearty first course inspired by Oriental cuisine. Similar thick soups are prepared in India, Morocco, and the countries of Southeast Asia. The tone is set by spices and seasonings - garlic, chili, ginger and a bouquet of spicy spices, which can be assembled to your liking. It is better to fry vegetables and spices in melted butter (ghee) or mix olive oil and butter in a saucepan, this, of course, is not the same, but it tastes similar.

Plum - well, who does not know her ?! She is loved by many gardeners. And all because it has an impressive list of varieties, surprises with excellent harvests, pleases with its variety in terms of ripening and a huge choice of color, shape and taste of fruits. Yes, somewhere she feels better, somewhere worse, but almost no summer resident refuses to grow her on her plot. Today it can be found not only in the south, in the middle lane, but also in the Urals, in Siberia.

Many ornamental and fruit crops, except for drought-resistant ones, suffer from the scorching sun, and conifers in the winter-spring period - from the sun's rays, enhanced by the reflection from the snow. In this article we will talk about a unique preparation for protecting plants from sunburn and drought - Sunshet Agrosuccess. The problem is relevant for most regions of Russia. In February and early March, the sun's rays become more active, and the plants are not yet ready for new conditions.

“Each vegetable has its own time”, and each plant has its own optimal time for planting. Anyone who has experienced planting is well aware that the hot season for planting is spring and autumn. This is due to several factors: in spring, the plants have not yet started to grow rapidly, there is no sweltering heat, and precipitation often falls. However, no matter how hard we try, circumstances often develop in such a way that landings have to be carried out at the very height of summer.

Chili con carne in Spanish means chili with meat. This is a Texan and Mexican dish whose main ingredients are chili peppers and minced beef. In addition to the main products, there are onions, carrots, tomatoes, and beans. This red lentil chili recipe is delicious! The dish is fiery, burning, very satisfying and amazingly tasty! You can cook a large pot, arrange in containers and freeze - a whole week will be a delicious dinner.

Cucumber is one of the most beloved garden crops of our summer residents. However, not all and not always gardeners manage to get a really good harvest. And although growing cucumbers requires regular attention and care, there is a little secret that will significantly increase their yield. It's about pinching cucumbers. Why, how and when to pinch cucumbers, we will tell in the article. An important point in the cultivation of cucumbers is their formation, or type of growth.

Now every gardener has the opportunity to grow absolutely organic, healthy fruits and vegetables in his own garden. The microbiological fertilizer Atlant will help in this. It contains helper bacteria that settle in the zone of the root system and begin to work for the benefit of the plant, allowing it to actively grow, stay healthy and give high yields. Usually, many microorganisms coexist around the root system of plants.

Summer is associated with beautiful flowers. Both in the garden and in the rooms you want to admire the luxurious inflorescences and touching flowers. And for this it is not at all necessary to use cut bouquets. In the assortment of the best indoor plants there are many beautifully flowering species. In the summer, when they receive the brightest lighting and the optimal duration of daylight hours, they are able to outshine any bouquet. Short-lived or just annual crops look like living bouquets.

Hello dear readers. Recently, an increasing number of gardeners are switching to organic natural farming methods. This method combines shallow surface tillage without layer turnover, abundant soil mulching and organic plant nutrition. Therefore, more and more questions arise about what constitutes a herbal infusion for plant nutrition. That is what our discussion today will be about.

The medical term in the title of this section describes in the best possible way the need to use grass as a fertilizer in top dressing. The fact is that plants take nutrients from the soil, air and accumulate them in themselves: in stems, leaves, flowers.

When we infuse, ferment, cut grass, we release vitamins and other beneficial substances. After watering the soil in vegetable beds, we return nutrition to it for microorganisms, the waste products of which are then digested by our cucumbers, tomatoes and other cabbage.

In the case of fertilization with various mineral water, plants absorb nutrition directly without the participation of microorganisms, which as a result do not receive enough nutrition and die. The soil in this case becomes literally dead.

Herbal infusion recipes

Before proceeding to the description of recipes, let's look at what they use. The main components of nutritional "teas" are such components as grass, bacteria and nutrition.

Herb for infusions

As a herbal base, you can use both waste from cultivated plants and numerous weeds from the site. Particularly good infusions are obtained from nettles (about the benefits of nettles), which, as you know, will not grow on poor soil. You can also use:

  • burdock;
  • woodlice;
  • deaf nettle (clasnotka);
  • dandelion;
  • mowed lawn grass;
  • and other weeds.

Attention! Do not use inseminating faded plants, many seeds tolerate fermentation and then germinate well.

In addition to the grass itself, manure, chicken manure and sugar in any form can serve as food for developing bacteria. Fermented jam is best suited for these purposes.

Bacteria in herbal infusion

As for how to prepare the bacteria, there are several ways to go or combine them together. Let's talk about a few examples of how to get bacterial preparations with your own hands.

  1. Very popular herbal infusion for feeding plants with yeast. To make it, you need to dilute a bag of dry yeast and a tablespoon of sugar in a liter of water. After two days of exposure in a warm place, ready-made yeast bacteria are added to the infusion.
  2. It is even easier to enrich "herbal tea" with lactic acid bacteria. It is enough to let natural milk or sour cream sour - and the sourdough is ready.
  3. Very useful bacterium hay bacillus. It can be obtained by adding a piece of old stale hay to the infusion. How to make an effective infusion of hay sticks? To do this, boil the old hay for more than half an hour and cool at room temperature.
  4. By adding garden soil to the solution, we bring in the natural bacteria of our site.
  5. Purchased bacteria of natural farming centers, such as Siyanie or Baikal, are purchased in specialized stores or on websites.
  6. By flooding the grass with water from a village pond, you enrich the solution with aquatic bacteria. Water from a well in this sense loses a lot.
  7. Nitrogen-fixing and phosphorus-potassium mobilizing bacteria are also commercially available. They will also help enrich your composition.

Attention! There are never too many bacteria, so all their types can be used together, in a complex in one solution!

How to prepare herbal infusion

Now we proceed directly to the manufacture of the drug. Let's describe this process step by step:

  1. Pour into the prepared container one third or half of the cooked chopped grass.
  2. Fill it with water to cover with the top.
  3. Add the selected preparations with bacteria and "sweet".
  4. Add water to the top and mix everything.
  5. Close the lid with little air.

Comment! With the lid open, nitrogen escapes, so in spring and early summer during a stormy growing season, when this nutrient is especially needed, it is undesirable to lose it.

The compositions of late summer dressings do not need much nitrogen, it is better to enrich them with potassium. Therefore, the composition is prepared with the addition of wood ash and a half-covered lid.

Depending on the outside air temperature, the solution will be ready in 5-10 days. This can be seen at the end of the fermentation process.

Video - herbal infusion for feeding

Application of infusion

To the question of how often to water plants with herbal infusion, we will answer this way: normally mulched plants, both in open ground and in a greenhouse, are fed once a week. The alternation of root and foliar dressings will be optimal.

Now about how to dilute the infusion. For watering under the root, one liter of tea is diluted with a bucket of clean water. Ten liters of the finished solution is enough for 4-5 plants of tomatoes or peppers, eggplants or cucumbers. Cabbage plants at the initial stage of development can be watered up to 8-10 bushes, as they grow, the dose can be increased according to the power of the cabbage.

Foliar spraying on the leaf is carried out by diluting in a ratio of 1:20. It is best to spray in the evening in dry weather. At this time, the best effect of such top dressing is observed. The amount of the drug on the leaves should ensure their complete wetting both from the bottom of the leaf plate and from above it.

Storage and shelf life of natural fertilizer

The best effect is given by a fresh, just fermented infusion. It is at this time that the most rapid growth of the bacterial mass is observed. Over time, the bacteria will begin to die from lack of nutrition.

If the drug has not been completely used within a week from the time of preparation, then it is advisable to add a little more grass and sugars to the container and add fresh water. How long does this infusion keep? With regular nutritional supplements, bacteria can work all summer long.

The main thing is that by using herbal infusion, you provide nutrition to the soil microorganism, which ultimately form the fertility of your garden.

Experience in the preparation and application of fertilizer from grass.

Many gardeners are looking for an alternative to the expensive one. Yes, and you need to shovel manure a lot, which also takes time, effort and health. Compost heaps, as an alternative, certainly give their results. But their preparation also requires strength, time, and a lot of organic matter.

But we can always prepare "in haste" a simple and effective fertilizer from weeds and grass, which are always found in every area. With this fertilizer, you can feed any garden crops.

Herbal infusion is an excellent fertilizer.

I work in the country almost alone. And having shoveled a lot of literature on the topic of fertilizers, I adopted this type of top dressing, adjusting it a little to fit my conditions and soil.

My soil is sandy, so the organic matter laid in the soil since autumn, by the next autumn, almost all goes into the lower horizons of the soil. And watering with infusion from a barrel during the season saves the situation. Plants constantly receive the elements necessary for vegetation, both macro and micro. Their immunity increases, plants get sick less. Give a healthy and stable crop.

How to cook?..

I make infusions like a compost heap.

I put weeds in a barrel of two hundred liters without compacting. Burdock, and nettle, and dandelion, and chamomile go there. Everything that grows in the garden, I pull out before it gives seeds, or I mow it. I fill it with water. I add half a bucket of ash to the solution, it will be about 2-3 kg. Or the same amount of dolomite flour. With a neutral solution reaction, microorganisms work more actively!

In the spring, less ash can be poured, but in the fall it will not hurt, as the plants need more phosphorus and potassium.

All plants in the initial stage of the growing season need nitrogen, so I add a little cow manure or chicken manure there. If this is cow dung, then also from half a bucket. And chicken manure is enough for 1-2 kg.

Such an infusion, in addition to fertilizer, can also serve as a disease prevention.

When planting, plants usually receive mechanical damage, and the risk of infection with fungal diseases increases. For prevention, I add a tuft of rotten hay to the barrel. You can pour boiling water over such hay, and after cooling, pour it into a barrel. Hay bacillus, after cooling, multiply even faster and we get the almost notorious phytosporin, which inhibits pathogenic fungi and bacteria. For the same purpose, yeast or dry bread is added. I put one pack of dry yeast on such a barrel - 11 grams. If it is raw yeast, then 50 grams is enough. Crackers - with half a kilo.

In the autumn I make wine, after straining, I don’t throw out the leftovers of the berries, I freeze it, and in the spring I also dump it into a barrel.

In order for the infusion to be rich in calcium, you can put a couple of kilograms of bone meal there. I collect eggshells in winter, dry them well and grind them. I also put half a bucket on the barrel.

Almost any concentration of the solution in a barrel diluted 1:10 for root dressings and 1:20 for foliar dressings will not be harmful to plants. But for those who want to make a solution for the first time, certain proportions are still needed. If you are just making an infusion of herbs, then take 1 kg of grass for 10 liters of water. This is the optimal proportion.

I cover the barrel with a piece of glass, but so that there are cracks along the edges for air access. Under glass, the infusion heats up faster and ferments more actively. I don't wait more than ten days.

The first barrel goes to water trees and berry bushes. I add one liter of tincture to a bucket of water. I water without limiting the amount. Until the soil is completely wet, as with normal watering. Then I mulch bushes and trees with hay or straw. Any mulching material.

Recently, I liked black spunbond for mulching. Grass does not grow under it, the soil breathes. And if you lift it up and dig a little soil, you can see a huge number of earthworms.

Application.

Then I add water to the barrel, and after four days I water my planted plants. Tomatoes, peppers, eggplants. A bucket for 4-5 bushes.

Under root crops I use not earlier than 10 days after germination. I carry it out as a normal watering. Until the soil is completely wet.

Thus, I water the plants all June, with each watering I add an infusion from the barrel. And after each watering, I add grass to the barrel, and all the other components that are available. I exclude manure. I fill it with water and the process repeats. Well-developed, healthy plants, after the cessation of fertilizing, begin to bear fruit abundantly.

I use such infusions for all plants, I did not notice a negative reaction in them. For pumpkin, in such an infusion I add manure infusion. In equal proportions. And then also a liter, per bucket of water. But only once at the beginning of the growing season, after the first hilling, to form new roots and strong bushes.

The only thing I don’t use such infusions for in my garden is blueberries. Would not add under any plants that like acidic soil.

I use little mineral fertilizers. I try to do without them. But those who use them in their garden also enrich the herbal infusions with mineral water. Nitrogen from spring, phosphorus-potassium - later. Add 20 grams per bucket of liquid.

And fans of EM drugs, in turn, use these drugs to add to infusions. To do this, add 0.5 liters of "Baikal". Such a preparation improves the smell of fertilizer, and, probably, saturates it with additional beneficial microflora.

In order for the microorganisms in the barrel not to die, being poisoned by their own fermentation products, the infusion is renewed by adding at least water. Without the addition of water and other components, it is better not to store this fertilizer for more than two weeks. It is better to pour it on the compost heap and start a new solution.

Content

Organic fertilizer is great for plant health because it contains a lot of nitrogen. The latter is vital for young, developing crops such as tomatoes, cabbage, cucumbers, peppers, etc. Due to the high nitrogen content in herbal infusions, plants develop rapidly and begin flowering and fruiting.

The basis for top dressing can be waste of cultivated plants or numerous weeds collected from the site. Especially "tasty" for the beds, infusions are obtained from nettles. You can also use the following herbs:

  • dandelion;
  • burdock;
  • deaf nettle;
  • woodlice;
  • mowed lawn grass, etc.

It is not recommended to take faded herbs for the preparation of herbal infusion, since many seeds normally tolerate the fermentation process, after which they quickly germinate in the ground. Additional ingredients in the composition of dressings can be manure, sugar, chicken manure, chalk, etc. General recommendations for preparing the infusion:

  • any herbs can be used and combined (even weeds left after weeding);
  • optimal proportions - for 10 liters of water 1 kg of the plant component;
  • for convenience, fermentation of the infusion is carried out in a barrel or bucket, while the container should be covered with glass or a dark film, leaving gaps for air (the composition will warm up faster and ferment more actively under the influence of direct rays falling on the covering material);
  • so that the herbal infusion does not exude stench, microbiological agents sold in specialized gardening stores are added to it);
  • the finished liquid cannot be used in a concentrated form, it must be diluted with water.

Herbal infusion with chalk and jam for plant nutrition

This recipe is recommended if the bushes refuse to gain vegetative mass or look weak. Jam is used to speed up the fermentation of the infusion. The mixture is prepared for about 3-4 days, subject to periodic vigorous stirring of the contents of the barrel. To prepare top dressing you need:

  • fill the volumetric container by ½ with vegetable raw materials, which must first be crushed;
  • brew a bunch of rotten hay with boiling water (preferably, let the liquid brew for 2 days);
  • pour plants in a barrel heated in the sun with water so that it covers the grass;
  • add a glass of jam (possibly expired), a handful of manure, 500 g of ash and 80-90 g of chalk to the container;
  • leave the barrel in the sun, where in a few days the mixture will turn into fertilizer;
  • dilute the nutrient liquid with water before use (1 liter of fertilizer per 10-liter bucket of water).

with ash

Ash is an affordable, effective fertilizer that saturates the earth with potassium. Ash is especially useful for potatoes and tomatoes. It is allowed to apply such fertilizer no more than 3-5 times a month, alternating it with other mineral mixtures. To prepare the infusion you need:

  • fill the prepared container with crushed plants (weeds);
  • add 2-3 cups of ash;
  • fill the container to the top with water;
  • 2-3 days after the appearance of lush foam on the infusion, use the liquid as top dressing (for this, 3 liters of infusion are added to 10 liters of water).

With manure and urea

These components significantly accelerate the fermentation of the liquid and increase the nutritional value of top dressing, supplementing its composition with microelements useful for trees and shrubs. Fertilizer is prepared from grass and weeds as follows:

  • in a 200-liter barrel, 10 tbsp. sifted ash with 10 tbsp. l. urea;
  • manure is also added here (arbitrary amount);
  • up to half the barrel is filled with chopped weeds;
  • the resulting mixture is poured with boiling water so as to barely cover the components;
  • after 3-5 hours of the container being under the sun, the top dressing will be ready for use (before watering the plants, the fertilizer is diluted 1:10 with water).

With superphosphate

To prepare this remedy, it is better to take freshly cut plants, nettle would be ideal. The optimal ratio of dry ingredients and water is 1:1. Green fertilizer is prepared from grass as follows:

  • up to 50 g of superphosphate are taken per 10 liters of water;
  • the resulting liquid is mixed with a bucket of chopped weeds;
  • the components are placed in a barrel and pour 10 liters of water;
  • periodically stir the mass (it is better to leave the container in partial shade);
  • after a week, the dressing will be ready for use (the foam should disappear by this time);
  • for watering crops, the fertilizer is diluted with water 1:7.

Mode of application

Well-mulched beds need to be fertilized once a week, while it is optimal to alternate foliar and root. For irrigation at the root, a liter of herbal liquid is diluted with a bucket of water: 10 liters is enough for an average of 5 shrubs (peppers, cucumbers or tomatoes). With the same amount of fertilizer, you can water 8-10 cabbage plants at the initial stage of their development.

Leaf spraying is carried out by diluting the herbal concentrate with water 1:20. Irrigation is best done in the evening and in dry weather, then the effect will be better. Herbal infusion should completely moisten the foliage from all sides. It is especially useful to carry out spraying during fruiting, but during the entire growing season, fruit crops respond well to such fertilizer (tops become juicier, stems become stronger, more ovaries are formed).

When feeding fruit and berry crops, holes are made in the soil next to the bushes (50-60 cm deep) using an iron rod. After that, herbal infusion is poured into the formed recesses to feed the plants. It takes about 15-30 liters of liquid for one tree aged 15 years, 5-7 liters for a bush.

Now it is difficult to find an amateur vegetable grower who feeds his plants exclusively with purchased fertilizers, and this is due not only to their environmental insecurity, but also to a very biting price.

Indeed, the cost of store-bought fertilizers is growing every year, which cannot be said about their quality characteristics. Of course, the lion's share of the nutritional needs of cultivated plants can be satisfied by such a truly unique fertilizer as (about which a lot has already been written on the pages of this blog).

However, many gardeners prefer not to acquire such a dubious decoration of the country landscape as a compost bin. In addition, it may take a whole year for plant residues to decompose to mature humus.

So how do you meet the seasonal nutritional needs of plants without incurring exorbitant costs and without risking your health? That's right, in this case, top dressing with herbal infusion comes to the fore, the preparation of which I want to talk about in this article.

Such an infusion, popularly called liquid compost, is extremely easy to prepare.

First of all, you will need a container - a 200-liter barrel, an unnecessary bucket, a spacious tank. It is desirable, but not necessary, that it be non-metallic. By the way, a leaky bucket will also work - just put a tight garbage bag in it and brew herbal "tea" right in it.

From my own experience, I can say that it is better to use 2-3 10-liter buckets and lay the green mass in them at intervals of several days. This recommendation is explained by the fact that it is better to use the herbal infusion for its intended purpose immediately as soon as it is ready, otherwise it will overstay and lose a significant portion of its usefulness.

The number of required buckets is determined experimentally and depends on the planting area. Although I manage with three buckets, in my case this is due rather to limited irrigation opportunities due to the general lack of water on the site.

So, further, the selected container is no more than two-thirds filled with chopped juicy grass, which should be slightly compacted in the course of work. It’s great if among the greenery there will be coltsfoot, wood lice, plantain, celandine, and so on.

By the way, the dandelion, unanimously hated by all summer residents, will serve as a wonderful additive to liquid compost, since this plant, with its long tap root, can extract all the most useful substances from the deepest layers of the soil. Of course, you should not use this weed for these purposes during the flowering period.

Next, you need to fill the container with water, without adding a little to the top (so that there is room for the foam formed during the fermentation process). Superphosphate can also be added to the mixture at the rate of 10 tablespoons per 200-liter barrel. Superphosphate is pre-dissolved in hot water.

To cut off the unpleasant odor that is inevitable during the fermentation process, be sure to cover the container - for this you can use a film or any handy lid.

Depending on weather conditions, herbal "tea" is usually ready in about 10-12 days.

Readiness indicators are a specific manure smell and abundant foam formation on the surface of the liquid. To increase the nutritional value of the fertilizer, you can add manure (a liter jar) or 12 tablespoons of urea (based on a 200 liter barrel) to it. In addition, the ash solution can also be poured there. To prepare it, 10 cups of sifted wood ash should be infused in 2 liters of boiling water for a couple of hours.

Top dressing with herbal infusion is never done in its pure form, since it is quite strong and there is a great risk of simply burning the roots of plants.

Usually, the infusion is diluted with water in a ratio of 1:10, and if chicken manure was added to it, then it is better to reduce its concentration even more - to 1:20. They usually spend 3-4 liters per square meter of plantings, while the recommended frequency of such top dressing is once every 7-10 days. Just remember to thoroughly mix the contents of the container before use.

All vegetable crops respond well to such a treat, this is especially noticeable during periods of fruiting.

Fruit and berry crops also respond well to top dressing with herbal infusion. However, in this case, it is more economical to fill the holes made in the soil with an iron rod to a depth of 50-60 centimeters with infusion. Consumption rate - for one fruit tree at the age of 15 years - 3-4 watering cans, and for a bush - 1-1.5 watering cans.

Top dressing with herbal infusion is a cheap, safe, and most importantly effective alternative to the usual store-bought fertilizers, which allows you to quickly meet the needs of garden crops for basic nutrients in the summer.
