Petunias are thermophilic and light-loving, do not tolerate frost and bloom poorly in the shade. Drought-resistant, but in very dry years, watering is necessary. In order to achieve abundant flowering, fading flowers are regularly removed.

Due to its sensitivity to frost, petunia is grown seedling method. Seeds are sown in February-March in bowls or flower boxes with a loose substrate on the surface, without covering it with soil. The substrate is pre-moistened well. The crops are placed in a bright place and covered with glass or transparent film. To germinate, petunias need light and a temperature of about 25 degrees. If these conditions are met, seedlings appear on the 10th day. They are placed in boxes or pots and kept in a room with a temperature of at least 18 degrees. These petunias are very effective in flowerbeds, large hanging baskets and containers.

The summer season has long ended, it’s time to prepare for a new one, so I want to show you the petunia, the seeds of which I have already bought to plant next year because I really liked her.

Our house is located near Tver, the climate there is certainly not so hot, very humid and rainy. And I don’t plant petunias in the beds, because herds of slugs attack them and everything is instantly gobbled up.

So this summer my decoration small flower garden there was a cascading petunia Typhoon silver from "Biotechnika"

There are 5 seeds in a bag. All five came up. And all five survived too. And this is good, because this spring I bought terrible peat tablets, which was covered with terrible mold

But this did not stop the Typhoon sprouts; they lived and thrived on many other seeds.

This is how they looked when they were planted in my flower beds. In the photo they are light on the left.

I planted them in flowerpots made from border tape, in large pots, in the largest buckets.

I planted 4 plants in one pot, 1 in a pot, and 2 in a bucket. They started to grow very well. There are a lot of flowers. The scourge gradually covered the entire flowerpot and crawled along the ground. When the branches of the bush began to become bare in mid-August, I simply trimmed it in half with scissors and after a week and a half the plant was unrecognizable, it shone again and produced a huge number of new buds.

I had feedings once a week. Fertilizers are different from what was in the garden. This is what this petunia looked like this summer

I also want to say that at the beginning of summer, two shoots from one of the bushes were broken off by a strong thunderstorm. I felt sorry for throwing them away and stuck them in a basin of earth. So, they took root perfectly and by the end of the season my basin looked like this: A light ball behind the purple petunias

I really liked this petunia, it is unpretentious, strong, beautiful. Its only drawback is the price. A bag of seeds costs more than 100 rubles. But despite this, I still definitely recommend her!

Modern Typhoon petunias are a family of annual or perennial plants, with thin stems and bright, memorable flowers. The presented culture has a specific bush shape, while its branches can reach 15-20 cm in height, and its leaves can reach 6-13 cm in diameter.

What type of petunia is Typhoon?

  • multi-flowered petunia (Multiflora);
  • grandiflora petunia (Grandiflora).

The large-flowered analogue of petunia boasts the presence of one (maximum two) large flowers, the diameter of which is estimated at 8-10 cm. They are very demanding on the soil and also do not tolerate cold well, so it is highly recommended to grow them in hanging baskets. In addition, the fragile leaves of this crop are susceptible to damage from heavy rainfall, as a result of which they must be planted under roofs or canopies.

Multi-flowered plants, which include Typhoon petunia, have a developed root system, many stems and small leaves. Their numerous flowers usually reach no more than 5-6 cm in diameter and are characterized by a variety of attractive colors, ranging from pure white to rich scarlet or brown shades. Multi-flowered petunia is rightfully considered an amazing plant that can decorate an alley or greenhouse.

Main characteristics of Petunia Typhoon

One of the main varieties of multi-flowered petunia is "Typhoon", which has long stems and many flowers of various shades. They are valued primarily for their abundant long flowering and a pleasant smell that spreads several meters from the plant. The culture in question prefers sunny areas along with light loamy or sandy soils, which do not interfere with the development of its root system.

At the same time, Typhoon petunia does not like excessive moisture, and with an abundance of nitrogen-phosphate fertilizers, the foliage system can suppress flowering.

Watering the crop should be done only at the beginning of growth, but when the plant reaches standard sizes, they should be stopped, since this variety of petunia tolerates heat and lack of moisture better than its excess.

Petunia Typhoon Silver and Tornado

Perhaps one of the most popular varieties of the described plant is the Typhoon Silver petunia - an unusually powerful crop that blooms throughout summer season, forming a network of dense stems over 1.5 m long. It quickly recovers after heavy rains, strong winds and other damage, and its flowering when proper care continues until the first frost.

The giant petunia Typhoon Cherry is also in great demand among domestic gardeners. It has a unique speed, forming a dense bush with hundreds of flowers within a few weeks after planting the seedlings. This plant is very unpretentious during the growth process, and its developed root system helps to obtain moisture from the deep layers of the soil.

Another wonderful plant that can often be seen on country beds, is the Typhoon Tornado petunia. It also forms a shrub with stems up to 1.5 m long, and its small flowers can be various colors(pale pink, white, red, purple, etc.). This crop is planted in early June at a distance of at least 30-40 cm from neighboring plants.

Thus, the unique Typhoon petunias will be an excellent decoration, both for country house, and for a city balcony, allowing you to admire beautiful flowers for a long time.
