Three people became victims of the killer at the GAZ plant in Nizhny Novgorod: a woman and two men. The investigation considers jealousy to be the most likely motive, the Izvestia newspaper reports.

39-year-old molder Sergei stabbed to death a laboratory assistant with whom he was in love and with whom, as it later became known, he even lived for some time. He also killed his leader. This happened when the man found his colleagues alone in the office. When they tried to stop the fleeing jealous man, several more workers fell under the blows of his knife, two of whom did not survive.
“He cut the foreman, the laboratory assistant he was working with, and, as I understand it, two or three others while he was running,” said an eyewitness. According to him, the work process at the enterprise was stopped. It was possible to enter the territory of the plant, but for some time no one was allowed back, REN TV reports.
Police officers and investigators Nizhny Novgorod region are investigating the circumstances of a triple murder committed on the territory of the Gorky Automobile Plant. Five people were stabbed there. Most of them died.
According to preliminary data, the crime was committed out of jealousy. Interfax reports this with reference to official representative RF Investigative Committee Svetlana Petrenko. It is also known from unofficial sources that the attacker was drunk.
The suspect was detained without delay. Moreover, the man resisted law enforcement officers, attacking them with “an object similar to a knife.” Employees of the Ministry of Internal Affairs fired a warning shot from their service weapons, and then opened fire to kill, the official website of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation reports. The alleged killer was then taken to hospital after being wounded.
“Following the murder of three people and the wounding of two more, the Investigative Committee opened a criminal case under two articles - murder and infliction of grievous bodily harm,” Petrenko added.
Police received a report of the massacre around 7:00. The tragedy occurred in the third foundry during a work shift, a source at the company said. The dead were the workshop manager, a molder and a 41-year-old female laboratory assistant. The killed men were 51 and 56 years old.
The deceased woman is the suspect's former common-law wife. It was she who became the first victim, and the men died when they rushed to her aid and tried to stop the attacker, who was jealous of the woman with his colleague.
Two victims were taken to hospital N13 with wounds to the back and neck. They are in satisfactory condition, TASS reports citing head physician Alexander Razumovsky. “The patients were admitted at 7:20, were taken to the operating room and operated on. The condition is satisfactory. They were 42 and 26 years old,” said the head physician.
“A drunk came to work, went to the boss and stabbed him, his wife and whoever came to hand... it’s tough, of course! It’s scary to live!” - the suspect’s colleagues write on social networks.
Sergei has just returned from vacation. Wednesday was his first day at work. A man is raising a 13-year-old daughter.
However, the plant management denied this version. "The crime occurred on personal reasons not related to official relationships. The rest of the employees were injured while trying to stop the attack on the girl,” explained the GAZ Group press service.
The plant's management also expressed gratitude to the internal affairs employees "for their clear and professional actions." Factory security guards also took part in detaining the suspect.

The man who carried out the massacre at the GAZ plant in Nizhny Novgorod this morning was wounded during his arrest, and not killed, as some local media reported earlier, the regional investigative department of the Investigative Committee stated on the website.

He injured five colleagues, three of them died on the spot, two more were hospitalized with injuries. Meanwhile, earlier the media reported that the man carried out the massacre after learning that he had been fired, and his immediate superiors who insisted on such a personnel decision became his victims.
In connection with the tragedy, a criminal case was opened under paragraph “a” of Part 2 of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Murder of two or more persons”).
Investigators are currently working on the scene to establish all the circumstances of the emergency.
